I am reviewing our Streaming Subscription and it's doing my head in.
I checked the forum here on OzB and rather surprised that this question hasn't been asked yet. So here I am.
PS - I don't trust ChatGPT, or DeepSeek for this topic :-))
Cheers!

atv+ and prime.
I've been using Netflix and Disney+ for years. I like the range of shows and the ability to share.
Spotify $4
Kayo $20
Prime $6.50
Audible $6.45
YouTube Premium $17
Apple TV (inc Apple Music) $7
Apple 2TB Family $15
Indexer $1.50
Newsgroups $5
Total: $82.50/month.
I find value in it. A lot of people fixate on cutting streaming services because it's an easy target and I understand you need momentum, but there's probably far more waste in your budget elsewhere.
Mine is:
Newsgroups US$1.66
VPN US$2.49
Indexer US$10 once off not annual.
Did have Prime (only for shopping) but not renewing as they are not delivering a lot of products now.
Stremio + Real Debrid. I had it before the whole thingy happened. And now I'm still using it with no problems at all.
Currently going through all those movies that I missed out growing up like Taken, The Transporter, The Pacific, Band of Brothers, 50 First Dates, etc.
No issues at all.
Apple TV+
Apple Music
Prime (mostly for shipping)
Plex+*arr+Plexamp
Stremio+RD
ABC iView
SBS OnDemand
Cancelled Netflix, Stan, Youtube Premium, Disney+, Paramount+ at various times due to constant price hikes, locking 4K and Atmos behind premium tiers, declining quality of content on Netflix especially, sharing and international plan crackdowns.
Using an adblocker for desktop Youtube, plus Smarttube and YTLitePlus sideloaded on Android TV + iOS.
My main one is Mubi which I originally got for $50 a year but this year has cost me double that. Its the only service that has cool films I havent seen before or dont own a physical copy of.
Then I share my gf's family account for YouTube Premium so I get ad free video podcasts.
It'd be nice is the Criterion Chanel was more easily available in Australia.
Prime Video ("free" with Amazon Prime)
Paramount+ (~50% discount)
There is plenty of content available and the cost is worth it.
Personally use
- Stremio + RD - Best for movies & series as the streaming rarely buffers
- Amazon (bought more for shopping than streaming so rarely use)
- IPTV - Best for live TV, Sports, News, PPV. ($100pa) Also good for latest movies/series (best if you have fast connection as you do get buffer issues sometimes) Cheap for what it offers, considering just watching movies & series gets boring
- Spotify (Bought through g2g $30pa)
This might be a stupid question, i was also looking into using stremio and RD, is this something you need a VPN for?
No VPN is required
Prime - came with Amazon shopping
Youtube Premium - To stop ads… in TV.. My toddler is too clever with remote
Other than that I do not think I have any others. I have Tinnitus. I prefer not to watch any movies any more. I just watch news and sometimes just read newspapers. And, just watch the life unfold infront of me. I prefer outdoor walking and exploring. Hate all these social medias and TVs..
While I do have prime (just as much for the free shipping as Prime Video), I mainly use TPB/Deluge/Plex.
I've had all the streaming services over the years but the constant price rises with no extra usability wore me down.
