      In reality, they're all basically the same brand - Luxottica (the owners of OPSM and Sunglasses Hut) .

      They now own Ray-Ban and Oakley, and have a license to make glasses with the logos of various fashion brands (Armani, Prada, Coach, Tiffany, Versace, etc.).

      They just license the fashion brands, and make the various sunglasses and prescription frames with different logos on them.

      Due to brand association and their virtual monopoly on designer glasses, this means they can command astonishing mark-ups at full-price. However, it's worth knowing that they're all from the same manufacturer underneath. Saying you're "wearing Prada" because you own some licensed-brand sunglasses is like saying you "own a Ferrari" because you wear a Ferrari t-shirt. For glasses, just ignore the brand and get a style that suits you, because the brands mean nothing at all.

        Yep, that's why I buy Cancer Council sunglasses or Decathlon which are good quality and durable. You can usually find the CC at David Jones for under $30 on special.

        Well said. This should be a sticky on every "designer" sunglasses post. They're all the same shit with different brands stuck to it. Luxottica is Italian and you also have Kering who are French. My understanding is that Kering are of better quality. I will never touch Luxottica brands again.

      Probably is a pricing error, but especially for designer sunnies like Prada & Ray Bans, they're made through Luxottica (they own OPSM & Sunglasses Hut) and have a huge share on the optical market.

      For the price they make them for, plus the "designer tax", $30 is probably the landing cost (minus the cost to the label) of what they are.

      I added the 51 YS to my cart but changed my mind and went for the Hexagonal Titanium Silver Polarized Sunglasses instead. After purchasing, I realized they were for women! Went back to check the 51 YS… It's all gone. LOL.
