best before dates on beer are meaningless unless it's years past IMO

    • +7

Yeah this has just had an extended lagering :)

    • +1

Big deal for craft beers. Generally meaningless for lagers.

  • +8

Had this from the tap at the brewery and it was fine. Although, i find lagers are pretty safe and each brewery will have their own quirk or flavour profile but these weren't trying to be anything more than a lager.
3 for 50? Pretty good even just for backup beers or to swap out for someone else's better craft beers at a bbq.

    • +5

So your one of those bastards that dumps sht beer in the esky at a bbq and drinks everyone else's decent stuff heh?

      • +5

Yeah, where the heck did all this James Boags come from?!

        • +1

          Launceston! ;-)

At least it’s better than that rubbish they drink down South….

          • +1

@Chazzozz: Cassie blues all the way! Way better than the rubbish they drink up North…

            • @rcgy: great northern is top tier watery piss for humid summer heat. dont call it rubbish

        • Boags red, St George, premium are actually fantastic bbq beers.

      • Haha

    • +1

To me that means these might actually taste good. I hate when crafters make an innocent sounding basic lager then you buy one and surprise it tastes like fruits or something.

  • $31.28 postage to regional NSW, rough.

    • +1

      it's $35.07 to the Goldie!

    • +5

We'd love to make it cheaper postage @awesomise, but heavy prducts are a bugger to ship and we've gone as hard as we can on price! Still, 3 cases for $81.25, nit a bad deal ;)

      • Jumpadoo spitting facts here

  • $95 delivery to Toowoomba 😅

    • Sorry mate, we'd love to make shipping cheaper!!

      • Just wondering when i can expect tracking?

  • +5

plus code CARTEL10 for $5 off

    • +1

got the 3x24 delivered to Syd for $56.95 - thanks OP.

      • +1

        Enjoy and tell your mates!

    • +1

thanks! $56.95 for me as well

      • +1

        Enjoy and tell your mates!

        • How much longer after "best before" do you think it will be ok?

          • @WatchNerd: You can never say for sure. We we can say is that it's still drinking well. We have a video next to the product description on the website. Check it out. Hope it piques your interest.

            Cheers

            • +1

@Jumpadoo: Yeah I will give it a go. Beer is good for you, thanks. How much stock do you have?

          • +1

@WatchNerd: I drink beer long past it's best before very rare it's even noticable. I have a few remaining bottles of my favourite red back which sadly is no longer available (new style is a ballache to get too) was brewed in 2022 still tastes great

    • Damn, ordered so fast didn’t use code.

  • Shipping is a killer. 35 for me

    • 50+ to Vic as well

    • +2

We'd love to make it cheaper to ship mate, but we still think $85 for 3 cases is a steal ;)

  • $56 shipping to Victoria

  • $35 Shipping to Perth

  • Thanks mate. It's coming out of of warehouse on the east coast. We'd love to make it cheaper if we could! We still think 3 cases for $85 is a steal ;)

    • pickup?

  • +1

Sorry, no can do @battler - coming straight out of a 3PL warehouse

  • +2

if they had Paypal as a payment method I would get this. I was just about to purchase and did a search of their company…..seems a lot of unhappy customers due to VERY slow shipping…..mainly seems to take months from most of the gripes, plus bad communication. Just don't want to take the chance there are going to be issues with delivery.

    • Thanks for the feedback @souths123 - Like most companies, from time to time we have issues with freight, but we think a 4.5 star Google rating after 500 reviews isn't too bad!

For your reference, dispatch dates are on all our happy hour products. This will be dispatched next week.

Hope we can win you over.

      Cheers

    • Yeah. Shipping takes ages - several weeks. Generally when a company doesn't allow comments on their FB posts you know they're dodging negative reviews.

  • +2

$24.23 to ship to Brisbane. Still a good deal tbh.

    • Glad we could help you out!

  • $80 for 3 cartons to Perth, bargain.

    • We agree! Thanks for your support.

  • +1

So it’s 1 year past expiry?

    • Hi @Gotchas - it's a best before (not expiry date). Check out the video on the product page. Plenty of fizz, great colour and from the number we've already consumed, great taste!

      Cheers

  • $65.60 inc shopping to Adelaide for 3 slabs seems pretty good

    • Glad we could help you out!

  • I think we've reached the age of peak craft beers

  • Hahaha. But jokes aside, it's a great fridge filler!

  • Short dated?

    Cheers to kidney failure!

  • Is membership free?

    • We have both free and paid memberships.

      Cheers

      • I tried to sign up to get the member price and the further discount didn’t apply

  • I bought the deal with the free 12 pack of wines and of the three that I’ve tried they were not good at all, way past their prime and lots of sediment in the reds. But beer is usually fine for years after the BB, especially in can, so will give this a go.

    • If you've had an issue with a product, email [email protected] and we'll get straight onto it.

      Cheers

    • +2

Agreed - The sparkling white was brown and sour, the Cab Sav also soured, Shiraz Drinkable but not great, Chardonnay was ok, not tried the Reisling yet but can see floating sediment in the bottles. I did mention the sparkling to support and got the $15 voucher which I used against this beer deal…

  • Clicked place the order, but nothing happened

    • Not sure @FlyingPanda99. They are flying off the shelf, so if you are having an issue, please email [email protected]

We'll help you sort it. Can't have you without beer!

      • tried multiple times and it went through now

  • -2

I was going to order it until I read the description. Sounds horrid!

Drink West’s lager is easy drinking. The clean-tasting brew is perfect when you don’t want to just stop at one. They’ve done away with the full hoppy flavour

    • Goes down pretty easily! Maybe next one will pique your interest mate!

      Cheers

      • I did actually order another bundle that I stumbled upon.
The tone of my message was supposed to be somewhat jovial, but it's hard to get that across in a message.

Great deal if you like this "beer" (again jovial tone)!

mountain goat aussie wheat for $35 https://craftcartel.com.au/product/mountain-goat-aussie-whea…

    • It's a cracker too! Good eye :)

      • Is BB date correct ?

        BEST BEFORE: 20/12/2024

        • -1

          25/04/2024

Still drinking well. Check out the video on the product page.

          Cheers

          • @Jumpadoo: I think he/she is referring to the BB date of the Mountain goat.

            • @HappyPants: Sorry about that. Yes BB is correct.

              Cheers

              • +1

@Jumpadoo: Shouldn't it be more discounted price given that it's beyond BB?

          • @Jumpadoo: The video here’s incorrect, stating 37¢ each can ?! It’s like closer to double for drink west beers.

  • Ouch..I clicked order then the shipping came up on the receipt. $56!? Time to try cancel…

    • +1

Sorry we couldn't help you this time! (Although $35 a slab delivered is still pretty sweet ;) )

      • All good, the team refunded me very quickly!

  • +1

Delivery was 20 bucks to Newcastle not too bad 70 bucks for 72 beers

    • Glad we could help! Thanks for your support.

  • For once I don’t feel ripped off on shipping. Only $65 to Launceston, usually Tassie gets slugged the hardest.

    • +4

      Not bad for overseas delivery.

    • -1

As they should since it is overseas shipping.

  • Glad we could help! Thanks for your support.

    • Thanks for the deal OP. Are you going to keep stocking drinkwest? One would assume it's not selling well if it's going out of date

  • ordered 3 x 24 - is drink west still around?

  • Shipping is $20.60 to metro Adelaide.

  • +3

I was late to the party, it's out of stock

This isn't short dated though, unless you thought the best before was April 2025 not 2024

    • So.True.

  • OOS

    • realised bbd is a year ago…..pretty poor\

      • Yeah I did the same, she'll be right I hope.

  • +1

Thanks OP should last me to the weekend.

  • +1

Hi Rep, It's been 3 days & no email update. When do you think these will be sent out?

  • No hurry on that shipping… it's not like its fresh anyway 😁

Seriously the last time I purchased from them, shipping was dead slow then too. At least they are consistent 👏🏼👌🏼

  • From what I remember when I posted, shipping was from around 10-12th - @Jumpadoo? I need it to be delivered prior to the 19th and stated that in my order as I will be overseas for just over 2 weeks…

  • +4

a week and no update on the dispatch while received 5 marketing emails in the meantime ! @Jumpadoo

    • I’ve received 10 emails for this exact item though already no stock left, can’t wait until come so i can unsubscribe.

  • +1

I saw the dispatch date is 11 April. Not sure why such a delay?

I hope these still taste good and it is not a waste of money

    • Yes keen to finish before they expired on anzac day

      • Wouldn't that require a time machine?

        best before date is 25/04/2024

        • [Short Dated] the listings too wrong ;( this definitely should be illegal selling 1 yr past !
