Some positive comments from another thread here.

Interestingly I found another OEM product that looks exactly the same from a more well known brand Comsol. If it's good enough to be sold in Officeworks, it can't be that bad.

List of product recalls from Comsol

      OMG !!!

Wouldn't it be easier just to list those not recalled ?

    • The hazards to consumers

There is a risk of serious injury or death from an electric shock or electrocution.

        Watt are you talking about?

it doesn't look exactly same. Anyway I'm using Novoo charger and it works good. No issues

  • +1

I bought one these in December for about the same price. No issues, decent ports and power output for its size. It’s rare that I need more than 100W for anything, and a USB-A port is occasionally useful.

Just bought another one to keep in my work bag.

buut.. how do you know they are from same OEM if their weight is different

  • +2

I have the 67W 2 port version (A+C) and I don't trust it anymore. Used for a computer for a while, overheated. Then I used to charge a Steam Deck through a dock, the dock died. I will not buy more NOVOO chargers.

What's everyone experience with various brand for GAN charger, I noticed that Anker and Ugreen seems to be more popular?

    • +1

We're rocking Anker. Travels and gets beaten up, works like a charm.

A lot of the technical team around the office run them … hence why I picked up a few. They get warm but never hot. HP laptops and various phones seem happy charging.

      • Thanks I guess I'll stick to Anker

    • Anker chargers are sold in Apple store, i guess they are more realible for Appler users.

The 4 port UGREEN one is on special for $65 but it doesn't come with cables.

  • I got the previous deal. It buzzes when hot after some use which doesn't sound good.

  • No RCM tick so not legal to be sold in Australia. Buy at your own risk. As stated on Amazon, it only has C-Tick and SAA certification.

It's it unsafe? Who knows, but it doesn't carry Australian compliance, so why take the risk.

    • +3

I bought one in a previous deal and it has a C-Tick logo on it. Looking up the number it has ERAC level 3 certification: https://device.report/comsol/ac10c2aw

    • Why is Amazon able to sell things that are not certified? It's not like they are a small corner store that Imports them and goes under the radar.

      • +1

This is from a third party, Amazon is just the marketplace used. It is the responsibility of the importer to ensure things are legal for sale in Australia. Amazon probably throw up their hands and say it is too hard to police on their platform. I personally think they should be more accountable for it.

        • Interesting does that mean items that are sold and shipped by Amazon would be certified and safe to use? I was looking at some smart power boards recently and they all look like dodgy Chinese Imports that might be wired the opposite way.

          • @furyou: I don't know sorry

          • @furyou:

does that mean items that are sold and shipped by Amazon would be certified and safe to use

I'd say 99% of the time that would be accurate, yes. Very rarely you might get an exception, but I haven't seen one yet. This is also why I stick to known brands like Belkin/HPM/TP-Link when it comes to power boards (and yes, I try to get the ones sold and shipped by Amazon whenever possible).

  • Does this unit cut power when plugging in additional devices?

    • +3

Most do and a quick search shows the lower wattage units do -
NOVOO 67 W USB C Chargers (sold on Amazon and their website). Sad to report that you can add this popular charger to the list of temporary disconnects. Both the slightly older 2-port version with one USB-C and one USB-A (RG67) as well as the updated 3-port version with two USB-C and one USB-A (RG68).

This is actually pretty normal for multi-port chargers to pause to "renegotiate" the power distribution

    would this charge a laptop?

    • +2

Yes this charger is a 100W compact charger for laptops. As long as your laptop supports USB-C charging or if you have the correct cables it will work

  • Pretty good price.I have one and I've been using for a year not found problem yet.
