Chinese cars are just better than American cars right now, and it doesn’t help that the only American car manufacturer that sells EVs internationally is run by a fascist.

    • +3

      Ford Mustang Mach-E?

    • +1

Who also makes said cars in China…

    • +8

You rave about Cars out of China (some of which are fantastiic), run by the CCP guilty of all manner of awful things including being one of the worst offenders of human rights abusers for DECADES, but draw the line at "fascist" Elon? Crikey. I miss the days political opposition actually had some principle behind it.

      • Well said.

      • +12

Last time I heard, the CCP isn't bragging about clearing out the Gaza Strip which is in someone else's country, sending all the residents to other countries then building a "Riviera of the Middle East" there with golden statues of himself but hey, what do I know about human rights abuses.

        • +2

And the Arab countries suddenly stepped up and said they’ll rebuild Gaza instead. Trump is so dumb hehe

          • +2

@Spets: wonder what that says about his supporters /s

            • @Spec: lets not forget his "handlers" cant say who otherwise ill get banned.. yeh it rhymes with loose. news, clews

              • +3

@Roe Jogan: lol, what handlers? cult members are closer to the description

              • @Roe Jogan: Trump doesn’t even care about his handlers (see the recent nazi solute by Elon). America just has Israel as a base in the Middle East, so they can boss around brown people and steal their oil, while in return said base can do whatever it wants with the weaponry, even if it means exterminating the indigenous population that just so conveniently happens to be Muslim.
Ultimately, it’s all just white people sucking off each-other and screwing over everyone else.

What car should I buy to be accepted by the BBQ people?

    • +1

I'd rather be known as a zeekr owner than a tesla owner.

      • Why

    • I don't think people understood your joke (Zika Virus).

  • +6

7x is going to be the real winner

  • +5

They show delivery fee as an extra as if pick up is free. If it is a fix charge, add it to the price and advertise.
Tesla started this and I think it's misleading.

  • +7

Zeekr's launch strategy isnt really well thought out. They launched the cars on a 25% premium on original pricing in China. If the brand was established, they might be able to justify, but they are unknown in a new market with a problematic dealer arrangement - they arent going to get big numbers if they stick to their current pricing structure.

    • +1

Totally agree. They also have LinkCo launching next year. I don’t know how they will price this brand

      • +1

Link & Co cars will be branded as Zeekr in Australia

    • What's the context on the dealer arrangement?

      • So in Vic, they are using Volvo which is also owned by Geely. But the problem is, it creates a sales cannobalisation across brands. If you are a salesman on a commission, you are going to spend your time on making an easier sale, and that means going with the established product that you also have on hand. I went to the Doncaster dealership told them my details, didnt get a call back. Went through a novated lease company to ask for pricing and they Zeekr didnt even respond to them for 8 weeks - and when they did, they gave them the MSRP…

        • Thanks for the context. I've been eyeing out the brand for a while now, and would be going through a novated lease deal if I pulled the trigger. Didn't know the sales part was that complicated - doesn't scream competence for any long-term ownership. Thanks.

Gratz for graduating from boganville community college for the special. Wear that special badge with pride.

      • -8

Better than driving that car badge 🤣🤣

Yes, boganville badge someone will wear with pride than Temu car badge 🤣🤣

Btw, I’m a paying 60k+ tax, thanks to my special college 🤣🤣🤣… i’m paying those on lazy Aussies on Centrelink lol

        • What?

        • +3

When your self identity is so weak you rely on materialistic stuff like car badges to compensate.

        • Yes, boganville badge someone will wear with pride than Temu car badge 🤣🤣

So you want to be Transformers. Gotcha!

        • +3

Lies, you're on welfare for sure.

        • 60k tax! Oh wow look out.. big man on campus up in here

    • +3

This is the same vibe when Kia and Hyundai launched here. People never learn.

  • Is the convenience pack the long range pack?

    • +1

Both varients have the same size battery.
The convenience pack adds equipment into the RWD model that you get standard on the AWD model.

  • -2

should be standard price from hwhich you start negotiating down

    • +7

How did that go for you with your latest Toyota?

      • -8

        insightless remark

  • +3

Delivery fee is killer but good deal

    • Must be a heavy item? :)

  • +3

So Geely is the parent company that also owns Volvo and Polestar. I think this one shares the Volvo EX30 platform (but priced lower).

    • +1

I would recommend to test drive this. I initially thought the EX30 was going to be the perfect car for my needs.

Was the first ev that I drove that I didn’t like. Cramped interior. Low seating position that led to my knees sitting too high. No back seat leg room

Hopefully the Zeekr improves on some of this.

      • +1

This is exactly what I told my wife after sitting in the Geely last week. I was not even interested in the test drive. The car looked nice but was too cramped, seats were uncomfortable and sitting position was quite low

      • +1

Zeekr X has a 100mm longer wheelbase over the EX30. That extra 100mm was almost all put into rear seating space.

Watch some YouTube reviews, or go to the Melbourne Motorshow this weekend and you will see its nowhere as cramped as the EX30

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbhwyvWQZkk&ab_channel=CarEx…

Watch the video for addtional info on the Australian model. In cabin comfort & convenience seems lacking for the asking price.

  • Can we use this car for Uber driving?

  • +5

    Delivery is crazy

  • +1

Can't wait for the Jaecoo range to be discounted.

  • Couldn't even find a spec sheet on their site lots of big photos, very little info. 3.8s 0-100 is impressive, 66kwhr battery less so. Who knows what the range of the AWD model is cause Zeeker is not telling!

    • +11

What are you talking about? It’s right there on the configurator. 470km.

      • -1

So you have to click on the order now button to find out the range? Poor user interaction, makes me wonder if the car control menus are similarly illogical. And still no info to be found on ground clearance etc.

  • +3

Yeah I don't know what a delivery fee is if we're talking nearly 3k, then another 3k short of the ON-road Cost.

Why not just say "56k drive away"?

Is a delivery fee the shipping fee from China? That seems a bit strange. All cars are from overseas. Surprised that hasn't been slapped down by the gov by now.

  • -7

This car looks sh** when compared to Model Y..

    • +1

The 7x is the real standout of the zeekr brand I think.

If you want a cheap Chinese EV it's hard to beat geely. Not very pretty but for the price it's unbeatable in Australia at the moment.

  • +1

Quite small car, not good for this price

  • Can someone confirm if the RWD only has a 7kW AC onboard charger? If so, that's a deal breaker for me. Also, why are specs/brochures on Australian models so difficult to come by?

    • +2

      https://aeva.asn.au/files/3789/

      Charging rates:
Single phase: maximum of 7.2 kW (32A)
Three phase: 11 kW (16A per phase) (AWD only)

      • Thanks mate. Yeh that single phase charging is a deal breaker for me, otherwise I really like the look of the car.

        • Why is it a deal breaker exactly? A battery of this size can easily charge 10-80% on an overnight tariff of around ~6hrs. Most households have single phase power so can’t even take advantage of the 11kW.

          • +1

@Pratty: I run massive loads in my house and pumping 32A over a single phase limits me running other large loads on that phase. I'd much prefer balancing the current draw (16A) over 3 phases.

Oh, and I'd prefer to be able to charge my vehicles during my free energy period (11am-2pm) and 7kW doesn't cut it.

            • +2

@gyrex: I hope 22kw AC becomes the new standard in the next new models to come out.

Only a few cars have 22kw.

  • Crazy how these EVs slash prices. Wonder how existing owners feel

    • +4

Empty inside their soul. Cramped inside their car.

    • +1

      Don’t dead open inside

    • Probably the same as the people who paid 5 figures for a plasma TV back in the day.

    • I wonder how Toyota buyers feel when they buy a car in April then it is thousands of dollars cheaper for EOFY

  • -5

Evs will only make sense when government implements v2g
    2030 is a joke

    • +1

Maybe for your case. Ev makes perfect sense for our household right now. When V2H is approved we will most likely get a second cheap ev as a house battery, slash run about.

      • -5

No it doesn't , no one is saving anything with evs but glad you think so

        • Since when is purchasing a new car been about saving?
In most households it’s the single biggest depreciating item in the house.
For our case, purchasing an electric depreciating asset made more sense than an internal combustion powered depreciating asset.

  • +1

Isn't this made by the same company that owns Volvo?

    • +4

Yes Geely here fields 5 brands that compete against each other. Soon there will be number 6.

  • Very classy looking car

  • +8

Drive Away Price 56 487.42 AUD.
    What hogwash!
Screw you delivery costs. Do not give in to this nonsense. If we cave, then it'll be the next Apple removing headphones and chargers from their phones and charging us the same.

  • +6

Still a pisstake with on roads.
At $39,990 driveaway I'd be keen.

  • -1

The best part about Chinese cars is they sell for like 1/10th of the price a year later.

Fantastic as P platter bumper cars.

  • +5

I think these have still missed the mark by $10k

  • +2

seems to be the pattern with electric cars. High launch price and give it 6-12 months and the discounting starts to more reasonable prices. Unlikely to be a launch model unless it was something that really couldnt wait. Great to see the prices on EVs coming down tho comparative to ICE cars. Much better than it used to be without the chinese competitors. They have done well to establish themselves quickly.

  • +3

Still quite a bit of money for a brand with no track record in Australia.

MG riding on the coat tails of a UK brand name is fine, but Zeeker with the strange logo and parent company who appears to make it's kids fight each other to survive, I dunno, very sus.

  • -1

    Chinese electric car..,…good luck

  • +1

Never heard of them before. Just spent a moment cruising the website, then digging into reviews. Very cool bit of gear.

The couple byds I've say in have been wonderful, and the shark 6 is maybe my favourite car of recent times. Pretty fun time to be in the market

  • EV and AWD are not settling well in my mind

    • +6

Time for some more research then, friend.

  • Still no way to test drive this thing in Brisbane. We're not a backwater any more!

    • +1

      Got daylight savings yet?

  • My family is planning to buy one either outright or salary novated leasing through my wife work.

  • Only 179 Zeekr X sold this year, and 32 Zeekr 009 so far. How long can they sustain such low sales in Australia?
