Nice but Cheap Motel Close to ICC Sydney Theatre May 6th

Hi fellow OzBargainers,

I'm sorry being a little lazy but also not a big traveller so hoping to crowdsouce any cheapish options for overnight motel stay to see Les Mis @ ICC Sydney Theatre (which is in Darling Harbour I believe), from the OzBargain brains trust.

Requirements:
☆ One room overnight on Tuesday May 6th, room for 2 adults but separate beds (late checkout if possible)
☆ Free (if possible) On-site parking
☆ Motel to be within walking distance of ICC Sydney Theatre
☆ Budget: nothing over $250 night (but not student or backpacker type accommodation)

Thanks in Advance ~ Belle

You want to be in a prime area, but don't want to play a prime price, so you are going to struggle.

Darling Harbour is in central Sydney. There are no drive-in 'motels' in the CBD. You'll have to find a budget hotel (still expensive) or look at a hostel and consider roommates. If you're flexible with location and prepared to take public transport in (there are many options), you can find a motel in the burbs.

I think you will struggle with that budget, especially with parking.
Would you consider using the light rail instead of walking?
Otherwise, I can recommend the Ultimo in Haymarket as “normal” accommodation.
Edit: you can park for about $40 overnight around the corner, so this might work.

    • Thanks ill check that out

Not a motel but you could get a room in the Ibis Darling Harbour for under 250 big ones, however there is no free parking unfortunately.

Just source parking yourself, nobody is going to include it in darling harbour. Ibis seems to be about $200/night. Mantra is a bit further away but also $200, parking is $35 and it’s a short tram ride away

Metro Aspire ultimo, about 10-15 mins walk to ICC, by far the best and cheapest option in the area. Used to cost $120-$140 but now gone up to $175
I've stayed there 3-4 times, rooms are large and clean. Definitely recommend it.

Some streets in Ultimo just up from the ICC if you cross the light rail have unlimited free parking overnight if you dont mind for street parking. I always park there if going to ICC concerts and is a short 7 min walk from there

  • Hi guys
Thanks, to all - after the first reply i got a bit discouraged and so i just went back online and used Booking.com and booked "Oaks Sydney Goldsbrough suites" for $206 - which was good price…
The problem is Booking.com clearly stated onsite parking, then after booking/paying, the motel tells me there is NO on-site parking yet they have a carpark they use, apparently 2 mins walk away but its $50 and you have to book and pay for it beforehand - so im not very happy about that!
Motel says they are not affiliated with Booking.com - so they can help me with the issue where booking.com advised on-site parking erroneously.
I should have waited and looked at the Aspire Ulimo! Or Ibis!
So if anyone know if there is paid parking close to the Oaks Goldsbrough Suites which is cheaper please advise…

If you actually want to book elsewhere get
a refund from booking.com because the accommodation is not as advertised.

They can sort out with the provider as to who is responsible for the listing error.

  • Thanks all
