time to stock up gift cards for the Nintendo Switch 2

    • +1

      Yep this is my plan

    • hmmm, placed $50 deposit via credit card. Wondering if can pay off balance using these gift cards once the item becomes available? (specifically re EB Games)

      • -1

I called my local and they advised me that I can pay with gift cards as often as I like up until release day. So I can pay it off in instalments.

        • +1

How does this work? Do we just enter the gift card details to our preorder online as you would or do we need to pay in store

          • @A female dog: Sorry only seen your question now. You pay it off in store in person. I bought $500 of gift cards (5 limit per day) and paid it off in person, and will grab some more gift cards tomorrow.

      • Just split payment and pay $100 each using ultimate gift cards.

      • +1

Last time I just went in-store and added gift cards against the preorder.

    • -1

      Same.

It says 5 cards per member per day. I wonder if in reality I go for two days in a row, would 2nd day purchases be eligible for bonus point?

      • +5

yes you can, i did that when i bought my 98" samsung tv. i went everyday, and everyday it worked.

        • What if you went to one store to buy 5 and another store to buy 5 in the same day?

  • -1

So can I get 20x rewards on pies

    Please lmk asap

    • +1

No, the bonus points are for the gift cards only

  • Re the pies, thanks for that, time to stock up for lazy emergencies.

  • +1

all the variable are excluded and a limit of only 5 ? They be sold out the first day

  • 20x = how much discount?!

    • +2

      10%

      • +1

whoever downvoted you is an egg, you're correct

        • -4

You're paying $100 for $110 worth of stuff. So the discount is 9.09%

Paying $90 for $100 worth of stuff is the 10% discount.

So technically incorrect, but I get what you mean.

          • +2

            @Bobsyur Uncle:

You're paying $100 for $110 worth of stuff. So the discount is 9.09%

You're wrong. If you buy $100 worth of gift cards, you'll get back 2k Everyday Rewards Points, which are worth $10. The net amount is therefore $90, which is a discount of 10%.

EDIT: @Bob Instead of downvoting, explain how I'm wrong. This current deal isn't like some of the previous Ultimate deals where you get 10% bonus value added. In this current one you're getting 10% back in points.

  • +7

Excl. variable? Oh you f***en dogs

    • Seems to be the trend lately….

  • -1

Isn't there a card purchase fee of like $8 per card though? Not really good value if so.

    • +1

Nope, you’re thinking of the prepaid Visa/MCs. These are just gift cards.

    • +1

No, Ultimate gift cards have never officially been sold with purchase fees.

There were a couple of occasions where BIG W charged a $6.95 purchase fee for $100 Ultimate Gaming & Bites gift cards, but Blackhawk Network - the gift card scheme owner - told me that was an error on BIG W’s part.

  • -6

yes there is, but I can offer them for 5 dollars per card directly

  • -1

As these are prepaid Visa cards, can use them to buy "true" gift cards within the applicable store e.g. Apple, Coles/Myer etc?

I think I've done this at OW in the past (and JB) with these cards but just want to check.

I know not to mention gift cards when paying and just treat like any other Visa card.

    • +2

It is against the Ultimate gift card terms and conditions (clause 3) to use them to purchase any gift cards or vouchers at any participating retailer. However, considering Blackhawk Network - the gift card scheme owner - basically cannot see what you are purchasing, it is up to the participating retailer themselves to enforce this clause (if they want to). As examples:

      • JB Hi-Fi's gift card policy says you cannot use Ultimate gift cards to purchase any gift cards, but if you are in-store, it is up to the staff member to enforce this clause.

      • Officeworks' gift card policy says you cannot use any kind of gift card (including Ultimate gift cards) to purchase any gift cards. If you are in-store, you should find that you will get an Invalid Product Mix error on the EFTPOS terminal as soon as you swipe or tap an Ultimate gift card (and the staff member should get an error message on their screen you cannot use a gift card type payment method for that transaction). These restrictions started being rolled out around June 2023. You could try purchasing online or over-the-phone at 1300 OFFICE, but most like will not work either.

      • -1

Can I say that the best method to buy online with JB HIFI is to convert the ultimate gift cards to JB e-vouchers?
I believe there's no limitation in using JB e-vouchers during checkout?

        • +1

          In short, yes.

If you have not already, I suggest you look at the FAQ linked at the bottom of the deal description, as it has a FAQ for how many Ultimate gift cards you can redeem in one online transaction at JB Hi-Fi.

          • -2

@WookieMonster: Hello gc master, can we use reward points to pay for gift card at woolies. A quick google said yes but i just want to confirm. Thanks

            • +3

              @Kai4039: No.

It is against the Everyday Rewards terms and conditions (section 17) to use Everyday Rewards Dollars as a payment method for any gift cards.

If you go to a Woolworths checkout and your Everyday Rewards Dollars balance is available for redemption:

              • If you are only purchasing a gift card and you go to the payment screen at a self checkout, there will be no option to redeem any Everyday Rewards Dollars. (That was my experience on the weekend when purchasing one of the gift cards currently on sale.) The same thing should happen if you go to a standard checkout operated by a dedicated staff member.

              • If you are purchasing a gift card and at least $10 worth of eligible items (e.g. groceries) in the same transaction and you go to the payment screen, there will be an option to redeem Everyday Rewards Dollars, but only enough to cover the cost of the eligible items.

  • Legend! Great to pay the Nintendo switch 2 pre order

  • Does Airbnb exist on any gift cards or are they only on their single standalone card?

    • +2

I have never seen Airbnb on a multi-retailer gift card, other than Prezzee's Smart gift card and ShopBack's Super Swap gift card.

  • So… What does 14000 rewards points equal in real money?

    • $70

  • Really wish Sergeants pies were still around. They were the best.

  • Has anyone tried purchasing more than 5 per day and still got the 20x points ?

    • I just bought 10 $100 gift cards in one transaction but the points earned caps at 10,000 (I.e. seem to only earn 20x points in your first 5 cards of the day).

    • +2

The five card limit is officially an overall limit but it actually applies to each individual card type so you can earn the points on 5x Everyone, 5x Him, 5x Home, 5x Kids etc all purchased on the same day. Still, I'd recommend only proceeding with the additional transactions if the checkout screen shows you as having earned the points.

    • I did two transactions with two types of gift cards, and got all the points. I was also able to pay for some of the second transaction using the points.

I'm not a frequent enough shopper to understand why only $30.

  • Have you found any $100 Everyone card? I went to 2 woolworths but only found the variable load.

    • +1

I did find them , I did go about 15 minutes after Woolworths opened so it is likely stores have been selling out (I know my partner tried a different store around 9am and they were sold out)

    • Templestowe the Pines store had these when I went this morning.

  • I could see the Boost in reward app for collecting 20x for ultimate gift cards, is it another 20x already in store?
Has anyone have this offer in their rewards app?
Unfortunately I only saw the Boost after I purchased the 5x$100 Everyone gift card. Now I have just clicks in the Boost for boosting, I will try to buy another 5 cards tomorrow, not sure I will get additional 20x on top already 20x.

    • It's the exact same offer. They sometimes just like to also advertise them in the app. You don't need to boost it.

It is possible to buy more than five cards per day but not because of that advertisement in the app.

  • If I want to use it at the good guys, I figured I need to do it instore.

Is there a limit on how many they will allow you to use ?

  • If I buy 5x $100 ones today and earn $50 everyday rewards from it

Then I go tomorrow and buy another 5x $100 ones - can I use the $50 everyday rewards towards that purchase?

  • Can anyone confirm they have received bonus points for the HOME cards?
The cards are shown in the catalogue image but not listed in the text.

    • +1

They’re included. I haven’t bought any myself but I know people who have and they all received the points. I actually checked this with Everyday Rewards before the offer began and it was just a case of them forgetting to include Ultimate Home in the offer title.

      • +1

        Thanks, appreciate the response

  • What does 20x points equate to? Do i pay full price then points i use for future grocery shop?

Can points be used for gift card purchase?

    • You pay $100 for the gc and get $10 back to spend on groceries

You can't use points to pay for these

      • Thank you

  • Can we buy one gift card and use it to buy another gift card, repeat the cycle for 5 times to get the bonus reward points?

    • You can't spend these cards at Woolworths in the first place

  • Has anyone else experienced a delay in receiving the bonus points? I bought around $800 over the past few days. Usually I’d be able to see the points appear in my everyday rewards app within a few minutes. However I bought another 3x $30 Ultimate Kids cards on Sunday and so far I haven’t received the bonus points yet.

    • Normally on POS checkout screen you can see the points appear before you even scan your credit card. Perhaps you forgot to scan your everyday rewards card, or it didn't register?

      • I scanned my rewards card because I can see the transaction in my everyday rewards app. I’m just hoping that they come through eventually, the TOC state it can take up to 14 days so fingers crossed.

        • +1

If you don't get them just call woolworths, they will fix this very quickly, unless you somehow didn't notice that you did something wrong

        • I have also missed. My receipt shows the scanned Everyday Rewards card (last 4 digits). No luck yet. I shall be waiting and then reporting through their rewards website ( online chat robot)

          • @hrbhatti: I sent a message to the Mandy chatbot in the everyday rewards app. I was able to get through to a person pretty quickly and they identified the problem and issued me with my points. Pretty surprised at their customer service. Wasn’t hard at all to get it fixed.
