Why is a dang dustpan broom $32 and a basic arse HDMI cable $12 in the first place?

    • +19

Agreed - most of the things there are massively overpriced.

      • They want $16 for a plastic SD card case that looks like it would be 2 for 99c on Temu

    • +10

      Gosh darn it!

    • +1

Proved that Amazon charges extra for the basics.

    • +4

I did mention it was a low effort example.

afaik ozb rules say you can't just post "%% off sale" you need to include an example. otherwise post gets deleted or mods have to do it.

so I just found two cheap items that added up to more than $40. wasn't going to spend an hour looking for the absolute best combinations of products sorry.

They were having a go at Amazon, not you.

        Goodness gracious.

    • +1

      I blame {insert current political figure here}

  • +4

Yeah just did a comparison on their batteries, and Kmart still considerably cheaper (even after their inflated RRP and 25% discount code)

    • Is kmart battery any good?

      • Yeah we use their AA and AAA and never had any issues. Especially considering it's only mostly for remotes and the kitchen clock etc.

  • Boo, there are no Amazon Basics USB battery banks. Seems like a strange omission.

    • +4

There’s a whole heap of usb battery banks posted every week here via Amazon, just take your pick . They’d prob be of better quality than something Amazon screws down a factory to produce at a mega cheap market destroying price.

  • -1

The as and AAA batteries are not bad I guess

    • I couldn't get the discount to work with the 100x basics AA batteries for some reason even though it says coupon redeemed.

ETA. It seems there's a $40 minimum spend lol

      • I can't find the 100 basics AA batteries

      • Was that not in the title when you first tried?

    • +1

After 25%, batteries are close to this deal which I got 100x and still in the box unused haha. This round I need some 9 volts ones for $1.5/battery.

Not sure when Amazon stoppedd showing price/unit.

    AmazonBasics = Temu + an Amazon-branded label

    • Not always, eg some of their wall brackets for displays are rebranded Ergotron

      • monitor arm is also Ergotron.

I went with Ergotron though because at the time it was only $30 more from amazon international.

    • AmazonBasics = Temu + an Amazon-branded label

      . + big mark-ups…

        does amazon sell guillotines?

    Their bedding is pretty good.

    • Needed some new sheets/mattress protector, so good opportunity.

I need a dog so I can buy the dog nappies.

    • +1

Will these dog nappies fit an adult human?
      Asking for a friend..

      • +1

Even if they do they're pretty ruff

  • Thanks OP, had my eyes on some sound deadening.

I know this would be an unpopular opinion but I will put it out there nevertheless. Alot of people we know are trying to minimise, if not able to outright boycott, US products and services from their lives, given what is happening. So although it's a good deal, I will personally do what I can to support local Aussie sellers rather supporting a US conglomerate who 100% backed the current US president during his campaign directly contributing towards the adverse impacts that Australia and it's people are facing due to his economic gerrymandering.

fyi I posted this from BingLee even though it was the same price at Amazon. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/900592

not because I wanted to say Murica bad or anything but because with $20 welcome code and Click and collect it was the cheaper deal. Amazon had $5 credit with $200 giftcard (T&C's said can be used more than once per user) but either 3x for $15 off, or 4x for $20 off with $150 remaining giftcard credit which definitely doesn't sound as good as $20 off from Binglee.

anyway I posted that because that's most likely what most people want. the lowest possible price. doesn't matter if it's from amazon if it's the lowest price at the time they will buy from amazon.

as the other users comment said it's all about "self interest". I have been hearing anti amazon (support local) opinions for years now not just with current events. but most likely if the price is cheaper those looking for a bargain will shop on amazon they just won't admit it.

      • You're good…likely the LAST-person on my mind when I commented 🙏

    • Stronger countries have always dominate weaker countries for SELF-interest.
      Old-way: killing people & invasions: look at history…oh did I mentioned Bush's Iraq-invasion.
      New-way: financial & influence/tariff. The end-game is the same: SELF-interest.

Look carefully, SELF-interest (or predatory-behaviour) is everywhere….you can hear-it driving the tone of SOME OzBargainers' comments.
Those who enjoy degrading others, look carefully @ what is driving you & how you feel after making those degrading-comments…SELF-interest is that subtle?

      Just observing & no-judgement📿☸🕉⛩☯

  • A pack each of AA and AAA batteries comes nicely to $41.98 which then goes down to $31.48 with this deal.
Always good to stock up for all the bloody kids toys.

Kmart is cheaper for nost of the basic items

    Serenity now!!

  • When Amazon suddenly can't sell Chinese made products in the US anymore…
