Another new AMEX statement credit offer for Special Gift Cards! Getting regular now, last one expired 09 Mar and previously 05 Jan, and also can be offered by various other companies.

Note: Likely targeted, received only on primary card (Explorer), and offer terms indicate additional cards are not eligible.

Grab a nice 10% saving on gift cards (up to $20, one time only) …..which may only sit around the 3-5% mark on other platforms. I usually get the Explorer/Outdoors card and use it at Ampol via Google Wallet.

        Thanks for the heads up re: Woolworths Special gift cards. I guess they are no longer that special…

        As far as I remember, Special gift cards have always been treated as a STORE CARD by Woolworths (as well as Coles and BIG W), so that is nothing new to me. This probably has something to do with Mastercard classifying this as a Private Label card, rather than a Prepaid card.

      This is a bit late, but I can confirm that I was able to use a Big W Special gift card to buy a variable value Amazon gift card via self-checkout without any issues.

  had similar issues to everyone with Amazon and Cashrewards but worked in RewardHub (work rewards portal) where I bought a $206 (3% back in rewards portal) amazon gc which left me with $0.18 on special gift card….hrmmm annoying

  I bought the Tech Card for Amazon Gift Card (I should of read this thread further than what I did to know it wasn't going to work), ended up using it to pay my water bill.

  Just flagging that special gift cards are patchy and there's effectively little support if you need it - I had a transaction hang at a retailer and it took almost $200 from my card. Trying to sort out the mess is proving WAY too hard. BUYER BEWARE

  tis one of the worst for " giftcards"

  Now i use my spare Apple phone to purchase.

  Also have the Special app

  I use the card at Woolworths or get the Explorer card, since I have started to do it that way I personally have no problem.

  Once activated I copy the same card info to my main daily driver Samsung Android.

  Edit : just checked have purchased 9 cards this way now…

  Amex/NAB/28 Deg ( CB deals)
