Been looking to upgrade for a while now from a current Mesh network (Amplifi HD) This seems to be quite popular, and Bing Lee happened to have on special. Not an all time low, but a fair bit better the standard $620 plus. Can probably price beat at OW too.

I don't really need Wifi 7 at the moment - none of my devices support it, but th 6Ghz band will be useful for me.

I have this, and have been very disappointed with instability. Dropped clients, satellites going offline. A quick Google search indicates it isn't just my experience.

I think next time I'll just get an Eero set up or something.

      That's the true TP-Link experience

I have a Deco M9 setup and they've been rock-solid for a couple of years now.

        • +3

i had the Deco M9s as well - were rock solid for numerous years without issues but gave up and died one day.

Replaced them with the Deco XE75 Pro 3 pack and had nothing but troubles with random satellites dropping, no internet connection and devices unable to reconnect without a full reboot. Too much effort spent trying to fix it but similarly a google search shows many reddit threads, tp link forums with similar experiences…ended up returning/refuinding mine via Amazon

**edit - mine were the XE75 Pro not the XE75..

          • +2

@spikiii: Same, with the Pro too. But the only difference is the ethernet port speed so probably the same core hardware.

Can you share more details on this as this is actually a router i was considering getting (was waiting for EOFY sales) so any added details you can share would be great.

I'm currently using a 6 year old Netgear Orbi that's been reliable but I figured it's about time to upgrade.

      • Have no real issues with my XE75, but to get good results your satellites can't really be that far from the main router. Obviously if you can run a cable between the satellites it is excellent.

Only thing to note was that I had a bit of a headache when I used just 2, but then updated firmware such that the third one was not of the same firmware. Had to downgrade the first one to connect to the outdated satellite, then could update all the rest.

        • Unfortunately I won't be able to run a cable.

But with this discount (and I'll try to get it from OW using pricebeat), I'll give it a go.

          Thanks for the extra info.

          • @muddrex: Yeah. I think the other user had an issue with how the new bandwidth works. 6GHz is used for the backhaul between main and satellite which is good, higher frequency = higher bandwidth. However, it also is less penetrating so does not have the same range

          • @muddrex: Just went to OW and pricebeat it down to $426.55

That's disappointing! I have the X68 three-pack, and seems to be rock solid since Aug 2023. I hope it's not a sign of things to come

    • That's disappointing. If there's too many more of these comments, I might consider cancelling my order. Any alternatives? I don't mind paying more for better quality

      My decos are stable.
Contact tplink support for help, once you get in touch with the AU staff theyre very helpful
They even gave me pre-release fw that fixed my problem

I have generally stable WiFi experience with Deco M5 for a few years and also with current X55 setup for a few months.

    • Ah - so it's not just me.

I only have one (XE75 Pro) as I don't have as much area to cover, but I get exactly this.

    • I had the same problem and replaced them with Orbis

    • I’ve been using the Deco XE75 Pro (3-pack) AXE5400 since June 27, 2023, with no issues at all—until yesterday, when I had to reset the configurations. I'm on an NBN 1G connection with an average of 110 devices connected, and it hadn’t missed a beat until now. Hardwired mesh though

I have the Pro version (The XE75 Pro has one 2.5GB/s ethernet port on each node) and it has been absolutely rock solid. I used to replace an Asus XD6 setup that was unstable and needed a reboot constantly to resolve traffic issues to certain clients (despite having strong signal).

My XE75 Pro setup gives me full WiFi signal everywhere in and around the house, and I have zero dropouts now. No reboots needed - it just works and keeps working. Issues I had previously with my Nest Cam building up a backlog of events not being sent have vanished.

My 2 satellite nodes have a direct line of sight to the main node, and I am not using the 6GHz for any clients, so that the nodes can use its full bandwidth as backhaul.

If yours is not stable, perhaps one or more nodes do not have a good connection to the main one? Are you daisy-chaining?

    • I have had the non pro version for 4 months now and it has been excellent. I have one AP wired and one not wired. I do however use a seperate router. These have been terrific compared to my 4 year old google nest wifi which started having regular problems

  • this compare to google wifi nest pro?

i have the google wifi in my brick house , but the mesh wifi singal not too good , planing to upgrade.

  • I have been using DecoX60 for the last 3-4 years, and never had any issue at all even with a few firmware updates (which sometimes screw up things). So not sure what could be wrong with these ones i.e. hardware issues or firmware issues.

I have these specific models, along with one of the outdoor modules as well. I have had them for about a year, and they have worked great. I have found that where you put the first satellite, and even its orientation makes a huge difference. My son (who is furthest away from the origin) complained as his internet dropped from normally a strong 200Mb down, down to only about 45Mb. Turned out my wife was cleaning up and moved the origin by about 1 foot. I placed it back and we were back in business again! :)

    • I'll hopefully not have too many issues with my wife moving the hardware! My second mesh will be wired to cat 6 - though I did have issues with little kids unplugging the network connection in the past.

    • Have you connected each satellite via ethernet or is it connect wirelessly as wirelessly is prone to give more issue dure those various factors, disturbance.

  • Just to add another feedback about this product. I have the same model 3 pack but only setup 2 while keeping the last one where I would only deploy it when required. In my experience, it has been very stable but I have setup them using Ethernet link. Not sure if thats the reason.

    • Definitely these are much better if connected through ethernet and when possible must be connected via ethernet for stability.

    • +1

As I commented above if you make any firmware upgrades make sure all 3 units are connected when you do so. I couldn't get my 3rd unit connected when I eventually decided to deploy it, as it couldn't connect to the main router.

  • looking to get these as well how much is the price in Jb and TGG commercial? looking for pro model on these.

    The most annoying thing about my Deco experi3nce;

Bought the cheapest X20's a few years ago which have been fine. Get all features and full parental controls etc for free.

Upgraded to some X68s last year - nearly everything is now locked behind a pay wall…

Switch the main deco back to an x20, and everything's free again.

Why TF am I paying more for a newer unit, and then having a subscription for half the features?

Definitely looking into other brands and options towards the end of this year.

Unfortunately need something with an app control so the other half can use it, otherwise I'd just use the decos as a mesh and a WRT router as the main.

    • that is where it is going with rest of the companies as well. most of them have subscription enabled features, have limited features and paid features.

  • +1

Have had these for almost 2 years I think.. all hardwired. No issues for us, work great. Love em.

  • just wondering if anyone has gone from a mesh system, to a single newer router?

I currently have a Gen 1 Google WiFi with 3 pucks, and thinking it MIGHT be overkill for my house
