Recommendations for Smoke Alarm with Wi-Fi and Can Send Alert to Phone

I’m looking for recommendations on smoke alarms with built-in WiFi that can send alerts to my phone.

Has anyone used one before? We’re often away from home and want to stay informed about any potential issues. What are some reliable options?

Cheers

Some cameras will detect the sound of an alarm and notify you about it. Would be easy to test if it works with the test button on the smoke/fire detector. HomePod mini will do this as well actually.

If you're away from home, what are you going to do if the smoke alarm goes off?

Call the cops before it goes down maybe 🤔

Why call the cops? They have better things to do than a welfare check on your smoke detector. FFS.

        • I wonder would fire truck come if u told them ur smoke alarm went off

          • @ATTS: They would and they would send you a big invoice for the pleasure as well.

        Call the cops

Their union will not let them put out fires

Is this you OP @drhip ;)

  • Does your smoke alarm go off often?

    • In the apartment: yes, once a month or so. House: dont know yet

  • Any chance you're an iPhone user? HomePods send alarm sound notifications

  • Google Nest Protect fits your requirements

    • … except the battery model is non-compliant by way of having removable batteries and the wired model is discontinued with Google now partnering with First Alert; new product not yet announced for the Australian market.

Smoke alarms are false alarms over 90% of the time. Airflow, dust, humidity, cooking all set them off. For this reason, if you want to stay informed remotely - internal cameras would be a better option.
