Are 2024 TCL TV Built in Google TV Fast/Smooth?

Was considering getting a 2025 tcl c7k and it has the pentonic 700 chip (on par with google tv chrome cast) same as tcl 855/755 was wondering if people with those tvs find the built in google tv os smooth?

As the 2024/25 Sony tvs have a pentonic 1000 chip which is nearly on par with a Nvidia shield was wondering if this makes a difference in day to day use? (Please don’t mention using an Apple TV etc I hate the idea of plugging in an extra box)

Also I read some people saying with a soundbar connected to a tcl tv via arc it doesn’t show the volume level just +- ? This true?

  • Why does it matter? Just use a Google TV streamer or fire TV 4k stick max.

Is a small rectangular prism with rounded edges considered "an extra box"?

No it doesn't. The super minimalist remotes that come with them are so much better than the huge factory ones with a squillion useless buttons as well.

I find my 855 responsive. I did notice a tiny slowdown when hitting the settings button after I enabled all the Google features, but it's not something I would lose any sleep over. Changing channels and inputs is fast enough for me.

    • Oh ok good to know

  • Re the volume. Yes on my Tcl tv and Tcl soundbar setup it only shows the plus minus indicator. A bit strange but I can live with it.

I found this on a forum that may help for tcl tvs

“When you choose "ARC" as audio output, it doesn't display the volume number on the TV screen, only "Internal Speaker+Soundbar(HDMI)" does.

Although I don't perceive the issue you guys mentioned, if you suspect it is an audio processing issue, you can change the Audio output to "ARC" and set "Sound > Audio Processing" to "OFF" so that the TV does not do any audio processing at all and then under "Sound > Advanced settings > Digital audio out" choose "Pass through". This will ensure that the TV does not do any processing and passes RAW audio stream to the soundbar to decode instead”

    • My LG TV and Bose Soundbar do the same thing.

  • My TCL755 is smooth enough for me. Very responsive, I find the OS screens a bit clunky to find what I want sometimes. But overall very happy.
