Socceroos 100 Years Anniversary Jersey $19 ($110 RRP) + $10 Delivery ($0 with $150 Order) @ FootballAustralia

810

Opportunity to purchase the Socceroos 100 Years Anniversary Jersey heavily discounted. This jersey was sold out within minutes on its launch in September 2022.

This rugby style jersey is inspired by the original sky blue jersey that was worn by the 1922 team, with the inclusion of the original emblem on the left chest.

  • Full Length Sleeve
  • Traditional Rib Cuff
  • Wool/Cotton blend
  • Logo applied as patch

Not sure if they fixed the size issue, but when I bought it they had a disclaimer on the website about this style running in a large fit, and it was recommended you purchase one/two sizes smaller.

I got mine when it dropped to $77 (ouch…) when they were back in stock in May 2023. Usually I wear size M for regular football shirts. Got a size S (the smaller they had at that moment) and it is still large for me. After they added more size options I guess XS would suit me better. Dispatch was very slow for me, maybe take it in consideration if you need it quickly.

Personally, it's an okay jersey. A bit uninspiring, but ticks the boxes for a 1922 retro homage. Fabric is of very good quality but heavy, the shape is a bit boxy, not very flattering IMO. Got it to add an historic kit to my small collection as I don't think I will have the chance to get the 200th anniversary jersey. Price wise, it does not worth $110, neither $77. If I'm not wrong, it was on sale for $55 last year and surely it didn't sell very well. But at $19 it is a very good deal.

First post, hopefully I got everything right.

      Gold and Green

This just doesn't sound right compared to Green and Gold..

      • +17

        Caught one of those spies!

    • +1

Soccer and NRL used blue and maroon until the mid-1920s as homage to NSW and Queensland.

Cricketers and Olympians wore green and gold well before then, but they weren't official colours until 1984.

Delivery cost is 50% of the item itself.

    • +8

Tell us you have no idea how delivery costs work…

      • -2

I sure do. 50% is just wrong.

Pro marketing tip. Make the price $29 with free shipping instead.

        • +5

Imagine if it was $9 with $10 delivery, then you’d be dobbing them in to A. Current Affair

        • +12

The only issue then is if you wan to buy more than 1, it would cost you a lot more.

        • If you did then you wouldn't be talking percentages. If these were $1 then shipping would be 1000% of the item price. Why would shipping change with price?

  • Thanks op

Can I ask your weight and height ? Asking for extra size guidance

    • +5

1.73m - 73kg. To add a bit more reference the S size I got has 54cm width and 72cm length.

      Edited to add more information.

But this is a soccer jersey?

      • Yeah 100 years ago. Lol

        • -1

They're still called Socceroos now because they play soccer.

          • +1

@PainToad: I negged you at first for the football/soccer thing, but I understand. Especially in Victoria. I've gotten bitter in my old age.

          • @PainToad:

They're still called Socceroos now because they play soccer.

According to the Socceroos they okay football because they are the

            Australian Men's National Football team

      • This is just as painful as the inverse person who refuses to acknowledge soccer as a term 'because it's football'.

        • It’s is football, but not here in Australia. Here it is called soccer.

          • @PainToad: If we want to get technical, it’s “Association Football”, from which it got the nickname “asoccer”, a shortened version of “association”, which then became “soccer”.

The oldest codified version of any football is actually Australian Rules Football (1859 vs 1863).

          • @PainToad: I don't want to unnecessarily blow your mind, but things can have more than one name at a time.

            • +1

@jacross: I don't walk into a shop in the US and ask for "thongs" and expect them to hand me footwear.

So don't ask for a "football" in Australia and expect a round ball. Things are called different things in different countries, or even different states.

Call it what you want, but don't expect others to do the same or know what the hell you're talking about.

              • @PainToad: Well we all seem to be coping and understanding here. Except you with your manufactured confusion…

But I'm sure Ultra football will be thrilled to consider your top shelf business advice…

      • +1

        Or Guernsey?

      • Only Aussies and Yanks call it soccer!

    • I bought it from the football Australia site (slightly less shipping), but the PayPal account i got billed from was Ultra football. Must be dropshipped or something?

  • +2

    Yikes!!

And they're still making a profit at that price!

    • +1

Or it's just they've been able to write them off as a loss and this is cheaper than storage fees.

  • Just got a small, hope it fits
