I've been primarily watching the 755 model, but this deal popped up and I had to post it.
It's not the best price it's ever been, but people seem to like the 855. I grabbed one today, perfect for my little lounge!

They had it for $1350 last month.
Well shit, let me go get my time machine and go back and buy it!
Just saying they may drop the price further.
Typical OzB not appreciating comments saying how low particular deals have gotten smh… Schadenfreude af
Have been watching this, it was not $1350 last month. Hasn’t been even this low since before January!
You are correct about it not being $1350 it was $1346. I'm sorry you missed it in this post.

Good find, stand corrected. I want the U8 at the same price :). Subjectively, a better TV :)
@Coops1: This wasn't great with motion when I first set it up even after updating it. I had to get a newer software version of a forum and update it via USB, that seemed to fix it.
@BarginBrah: It's not perfect but it's 80% better than what it was before.
I was considering returning it before I found out there was newer software version out there that would improve it, not sure why they haven't released them in Australia.
GoodGuys price beat on that deal was $1335, I got one then.
HOLD. There may be a glut of Chinese products for bargain prices in a few weeks.
No reason for negs on you. A very good point!
How come?
Orange man
Make Importation Great Again.
Have you been living under a rock?
These 2024 models are just gonna sell out though. Or you reckon we will get 2025 cheap?
Latest news: Orange Man blinked. Tariffs only 10%
Last I heard it went from 125 to 145 for a particular nation where these TVs come from
He took electronics off the tariff list, China didn't even need to ask him 😂
@snackerjoe: Actually not for Gyna. Taiwan and other countries are exempt, except Gyna. See latest news.
@marshmall0w2: Cheers, I'm checking but only getting reports he's saying it's moved to a different "bucket" and still getting 20% tariffs? You have a link?
Love my 75”
Crushed that I missed the last JB sale on the G4. Might buy this out of spite.
What sale was that? What did I miss?
Hopefully US-China Tariff war results in Australia getting the US models from both TCL and Hisense that tend to be better TVs.
And?
aussie tvs are great
Actually laughed out loud at this. Well said
Yeah… Maybe we should…
Spewing that they don't make this below 65"
Might have to look into another series just to get a 50-55" but the c855 ticks all the boxes
Let's see what c8k and above deliver
When is the c955 due does anyone know
C955 def due this year
C1055 due next yeat
My bad I just realised the c955 is only available in two huge sizes nothing even below 80"
Yeah… only 85 and 98 :(
@Froot Eneloops: maybe there is hope in whatever tcl brings out next
i realised i want something with very high peak brightness mainly now
What is good about mini led?
Decent contrast vs. price point. OLED objectively better contrast, but significantly pricier.
Mini LED also performs well in brighter rooms.
*blows the absolute pants off oled in bright rooms, by a factor of 4x or 5x brightness.
I’ve got the 98 version of this. It’s decent but I much prefer the 2013 model Panasonic plasma it replaced
Doubt.
I don’t doubt it. I have this TV, and sometimes prefer my old 2011 Panasonic plasma too.
Maybe it’s nostalgia, maybe it’s the warmth in winter, or maybe it’s that calming glow. Or maybe it’s the pleasing natural colour tones and smooth motion.
I think I’ll always have a soft spot for a good plasma TV.
can post side by side photos of both TV?
is picture quality better on the plasma?
@pinkybrain: I don’t have them in the same room.
It’s all subjective anyway. This TCL is still a great TV, but it doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate aspects of something like a plasma.
@jwh: yeah but what is great about plasma in terms of picture quality vs TCL?
what is subjectively better about the plasma?
what is the model number and resolution of your plasma?
@pinkybrain: I’ve got two; a Th-42UT30A (2011) and a TH-P42G10A (2009). Both 1080p.
What’s better about the plasmas?
What’s better about the TCL C855?
And compared to a highly used plasma, the TCL will have potentially blacker blacks with mini-LED.
All a bit of a moot point as you can’t buy a new plasma today.
Turn up your brightness. My C855 is a heater.

why?
Looks like JB is matching retravision https://www.retravision.com.au/tcl-65inch-c855-premium-qd-mi…
Upside of them is their 60 day price promise where if you find it cheaper they will reimburse you the difference. Depends if you want delivery though.
It will come with free delivery.
Just price match Retrovision with delivery. Deal has been up for a while now
I've been looking at the 855, but see complaints about it when it comes to sport. I'll mostly be watching the UFC, does it play sports without any blur/motion weirdness? I don't trust the in store demos.
I heard the opposite 855 is the best and 655 is the worst
No longer discounted and the retravision link is giving 404. Kinda glad, as I was very close to justifying it. 😅
I had been looking as well at this TV as well, perfect for the bedroom
It is on runout and appears stock is running low at many stores or no longer stocked
I pulled the trigger this morning on it and got the message that it was ready for pickup only to receive a call a few minutes that the store did not have stock
After a short phone call they are ordering one in from another store and will in mid week
