I've used Roamless on two trips so far, to China and Indonesia. It worked well both times. For my needs which is light to moderate data usage while on holiday it's been ideal. Whenever I've compared Roamless to some of the more popular eSIMs, it turns out to be cheaper for my purposes, and any credit that I don't use, I can keep for my next trip. Recommended.

    • Hey mate, can I ask - when you used in China, does it automagically unblock "western" communication?

I heard if you buy eSIMs outside of China, they shouldn't be subject to the GFW.

      • They connect to Hong Kong servers usually or are routed via Hong Kong to access the web i.e no gfw

Yep, all my usual stuff from home worked - Gmail, Instagram, messaging apps, news sites. None of this was available on hotel WiFi, which had dreadful speed everywhere we stayed.

      • I heard if you buy eSIMs outside of China, they shouldn't be subject to the GFW.

This is usually the case. You just need to know where their traffic is routed through

Hong Kong-based eSIMs usually can't access TikTok

  • Not negging the deal, but if you do a bit of research, there are much cheaper alternatives to this even with that 100% bonus.

I was in Mexico and the US over the last few of weeks. Roamless worked perfectly in the US via T-Mobile. But it was just usable in Mexico via Movistar. Roamless absolutely saved my ar$e in Mexico because of its global phone call feature via their App. I had a delay in a flight from Cancun to LA via Monterrey and as result would have missed my connection flight home the next day. Tried to contact the airline via chat, facebook etc. The only way to sort a reschedule flight home was a 30min phone call to the airline helpline in the US directly. This global calling feature alone in Roamless is worth it for me. Saved me so much stress.

    • what is the global calling feature? is it VOIP ? thanks

      • +1

Not sure its VOIP they use but its not free. The App has a PAYG Call feature that allow you to call any number in the world. Its charged based on the country you are calling. E.G. calling US, UK and Aus numbers are 4c per minute but other country can be higher. The call charge is taken from your Roamless balance. You will need internet access via either mobile or Wifi to work. I think while making the call from the App, they don't charge you mobile data cost.

  • So no need to pay any thing if I just wanted the $20 credits?

    • Nah you have to deposit at least 20USD. So at best a 100% match + 5USD free when you enter a referral code

  • Weird I'm getting "The period to redeem this code has expired".

    • Did you manage to fix this?

      • +1

No, I suspect it's for first use only. I've taken advantage of same promo before a few months back so maybe it's not allowed to get it twice

        • Ah, thanks 👍

  • Very happy with roamless.. used it flawlessly in Indonesia, Taiwan, Germany, Austria and Italy so far.

Top tip is to modify the APN to the one closest to where you're currently at, otherwise it would route traffic via Belgium and may increase your ping (this is good however if you're in Europe). This is the only eSim so far that I know that supports routing country selection.

    https://docs.sft.bics.com/sft/how-to-select-the-optimal-brea…

Use “asia.bics” APN for the Asia region
Use “america.bics” APN for the America region
Use “europe.bics” APN for the Europe region

    • Ah! Is that why my phone call to a friend went to him as a London number even though I'm in New Caledonia?

      • Not quite, I assumed you were using the VOIP from the roamless app? That would just be like a skype-to-phone service, I would imagine they would just assign whichever caller id depending on their VoIP provider.

The one with APN is the breakout point, which is like VPN. If you have roamless on, try whatsmyip.com, and your IP would be from Belgium. That is unless you change the APN.
