Such a crappy way to manage gift cards!
“It’s a stupid system,” was what a lass casually offered without prompting at a checkout a couple of years back. I actually thought it was rather quaint. Alas, it appears no more (see what I did there?).
I could find no trace of the old maximum $9.95 cash change rule on Bunnings website, though some third party sellers of their gift cards still make reference to it.
Instead, there is now a Reducing balance type of Bunnings gift card which is supposed to be given out instead of the old system of separate cards with fixed denominations plus cash (see the section on Gift card use).
Despite this, I bought something only last week for under $5 with a $10 physical card and was given cash change, so the policy may vary for small amounts for the time being, even from store to store.

Just went to Bunnings and got a key cut for $3.
I used this shopback barcode gift card, and hurrah as change they gave me an actual physical Bunnings gift card.
I’d prefer to have the giftcard in my digital wallet, but a physical GC is the next best IMHO

Just purchased this - how do i know if my westpac 5% tracked? i added the card to my payment list, and also via westpac app -> shopback login.
Atm it only says 1% tracked. there goes $500 :(

I used a bunnings giftcard last month and they refunded me the remaining balance under $10 into a giftcard. Do they not give a balance of under $10 into cash anymore ?
