1kg $27.90 Moments to Memories, 1kg $31.50 Nectar of the Gods + Del ($0 with $69 Order, Delayed Disp Avail) @ Lime Blue Coffee

Hey Oz Bargain Community,

If you're flat chat, please feel welcome to skip to the deal details below in bold

I've got such fond memories of Easter time. One of the things I love about this time of year is that everyone is happy and looks forward to this coming long weekend. Regardless of anyone's personal religious beliefs, Easter means a super long weekend thanks to the public holidays. Long weekend public holidays mean catching up with family, friends, relaxing by yourself or working and getting a nice pay bump for the public holidays, so whichever way you look at it, it's a win!

I've been working on a new special blend in the background for some time now, but for a while something was missing to complete this new blend in my mind, so it's just been lurking in the back of my mind. The other day a team member brought in a rare apple to our HQ that they'd picked from an apple orchard over the weekend. It's called a Kissabel Apple, it has the sweetness of a Fuji and the acidity kick of a Granny Smith, with an absolutely beautiful colour inside the apple which makes it look like a red plum/peach inside. Anyway I'll do my best to draw back to the point…seeing and tasting this unique apple was a lightbulb moment for me and inspired me to think of the missing piece of the blend puzzle. Given this time of year is full of sweet chocolate and candy, added to which the penny recently dropped for me of how to perfectly complete this blend project, it seems like the perfect time to launch it.

Please bear with me a little while longer and take a step in my mind of creating this blend. I wanted to create a blend that really takes you on a flavour journey like a magic candy from Willy Wonka's factory. I wanted the start to be a tropical stone fruit aroma, the initial flavour to be the smooth tropical fruity sweetness of drinking a Nectar, then a surprise acidity kick similar to a Granny Smith apple to keep your tastebuds interested and finally a warm milk chocolate finish. I know many of you will think my description is absurd and in reading it back I still somehow can't believe I've pulled it off. As mentioned Easter brings back such fond memories for me, as it's always been a time for catching up with close family, some paying it forward type endeavours, enjoying adventures away all while still managing to get some alone time to relax. When I first sipped this completed blend an expression I always remember my Grandma and Mum saying when they drank something that was healthy, refreshing and super delicious, instantly spring to my mind. The expression is "Nectar of the Gods," it's not intended to be a religious comment, it's simply an expression referencing Greek Mythology (not that it matters, but I'm not Greek, just to further ensure you know this is not a religious statement one way or another). You've likely already guessed, but the new blend is aptly named "Nectar of the Gods," it's featured in this deal along with our Moments to Memories Blend for those that are after something more chocolatey flavour given Easter is just around the corner :)

We're offering you a super 40% discount off our newly launched, super sweet, fruity and amazingly aromatic Nectar of the Gods Blend and our much loved, chocolatey, Moments to Memories Blend, more info below

1) Nectar of the Gods Blend, only $31.50 per 1kg (usually $52.50 per 1kg) and $18.15 per 500g (usually $30.25 per 500g)

It's always terrific when you find a company your happy with!

We don't generally comment about other companies as we like to sail in our own direction, so I won't comment on them directly.

No harm in being skeptical of a company you haven't dealt with before. This is a newly launched blend, so it's never been on sale. In terms of sales in general, our business model is fairly straight forward, our regular price allows for reseller profits e.g. Supermarkets. However, rather than going down that route we simple pass on the profit Supermarkets would get to our customers by dealing directly with the end consumers. This way while our customers are happy with the current model they win and we win AKA win-win, but if for some reason the current model ceases to be viable then we've already accounted for the margins Supermarkets would take and we'd be in a position to go down that route. It's a similar theory to businesses who own their own premises, but still pay themselves rent, so then if something were to change and they needed to pay actual rent to a landlord that extra expense it already built into the business model. Our deals vary based on a number of factors and we get full priced orders every day, so we're not a deal pricing only company, not that there would be anything wrong with that :)

I completely agree with you, hence why I buy from a small local roaster who doesn't sell to Colesworth. I guess what I am wondering about is why your beans are so expensive in contrast to other small local independent roasters.

        • Glad we're in agreement!

As mentioned, "we don't generally comment about other companies as we like to sail in our own direction, so I won't comment on them directly." Generally speaking, there's a wide variety of different quality and operational costs across the industry and these nuanced differences all factor into prices for consumers e.g. what is the quality of the coffee, what volume is purchased, what equipment does a company use, what systems are in place, what other revenue streams does a company have, is the company paying for Google ads, how large are the company operations (with scale comes a see-saw of cost efficiencies and cost increases)…there's a myriad of different factors and without knowing all the costs a specific business has in addition to trying the product, it's very difficult to accurately know whether a company is overpriced, underpriced or just right relative to their costs and market demand. Our goal is not to be the cheapest, our goal is to be the leaders in value for money, as such we believe relative to the quality of our coffee and the Lime Blue experience we truly believe we offer great value for money and it's something we strive to further improve every day :)

Personally, I think the prices are well in line with other local roasters.
As someone who lives close to where these guys are in Moorabbin and has tried a bunch of local roasters, LB's flagship seasonal espresso blend (Moments to Memories at 54.50/kg) is right in the middle of the pack price wise compared to the other local roasters here. Some comparisons who are within 20min drive:

          • Inglewood: Downtown blend $62/kg (they operate with a similar model of regular 40/50% off)

          • Pillar: Prime blend $55/kg (very rare, small discounts)

          • Good Hustle: Seasonal blend is $55/kg, Italian espresso blend is 37/kg (no sales)

          • Five Senses: "cleanskin" anti-waste blend $52, Dark Horse blend $68 (no sales afaik)

Pretty much the only speciality roasters who are doing a flagship seasonal blend below $50/kg and running any sort of sales are OzB favourite AIRJO. But their cheapest blend is like $45 and they max out at 30% off. They're also (imo) a cut below all the roasters listed above. LB's flagship blend is at $25 every couple of months which you are not going to beat unless you buy Aldi coffee. I'm really fascinated where you are able to find coffee anywhere near the $30-40/kg full price at a specialty roaster. That Good Hustle Italian blend for example is really cheap and good at 37.50 imo, but its a dark-ish old fashioned roast, so I won't compare apples-to-oranges.

Take a look at the coffee tag on OzB for coffee and you will not really see anything under 50/kg at full price listed there. I had a look at the roaster you mentioned, and all their blends appear to be $40/kg rrp (with free shipping!) which is pretty good, but they probably don't go on sale at that price. It also seems a general trend that speciality roasters in Vic are a little more exxy, which is interesting. Both Airjo and Leftfield are outside Victoria.

First time order, and hopefully it won’t be my last.
Can’t wait to see what you got to offer.

    • WOW how wonderful to hear, fingers crossed you absolutely love our fresh coffee :)

Thank you so much for placing your first terrific order with us, it's truly appreciated and an opportunity I promise we won't take for granted!

  • You're making some seriously bold claims here… nectar of gods you say!! Best of both worlds between fruity and chocolatey!! Since you're one of my favourite roaster I will give it a try. I've liked 10 out of 13 of your beans so far. Thank you for keep exploring and keeping things interesting.

    • haha I know, bold indeed!

Amazing to hear, we're firmly in your good books, thank you so much for that terrific compliment and another fantastic order, I promise we'll keep working hard to stay in your good books. One of the things I love about coffee is what a flavour adventure it can be and with any adventure some aspect you'll enjoy more than others, but you'll never know what you love without trying a variety of flavours to compare :)

  • I’m intrigued but the lack of free shipping really kills this deal for me - $40 for a 1kg bag!

    • Fantastic to know we've caught your attention!

We do have some $0 shipping options for you. Free shipping is unlocked with a $69 spend, which can be achieved with the following examples "2kg of our Nectar of the Gods Blend packed into 500g bags via this deal is $72.60 or 2.5kg of our Moments to Memories Blend via this deal is $72.15." Additionally if you're in VIC, we offer $0 click and collect as an option :)

    • 2 x 500g Nectar of the Gods - $36.30
      2 x 500g Moments to Memories - $32.70

      Free shipping :)

      • Nice free shipping combo math, that's exactly $69!

    • It’s all relative, for me I find Lime Blue to be quite cheap because for my taste at least their beans are on par with higher tier roasters in the $60-70/kg range. Personally I wouldn’t be treating the product as equivalent to other $30-40/kg options

      • +1

Same thoughts, Lime Blue is on cheaper side for this quality if anything. For other roasters offering free postage, I just assume postage fee is built into the prices of the bean. Charging postage separately is way better for bulk order.

Instant buy from the email this morning. Delayed dispatch is great, since I'm still working my way through Mexican and Moments to Memories. I've never been disappointed with a Lime Blue Coffee. I'm not affiliated in any way.

    Much love,
    Your Mum

WOOHOO for that uplifting vote of confidence, thank you so much for those complimentary words and another terrific order, both are truly appreciated and something I promise we won't take from granted!!!

Not sure what the sign off means, but I've only had 1 coffee, so I'll have another look after my second coffee :)

  • Hello OP
Would you please provide timings for pick up location?

    • Hey @Wiser you'll see available pick up times on the cart page when you select a date on the click and collect pick up calendar. Generally speaking orders can be picked up 9am-5pm Monday to Friday :)

      • Thanks
Howevere only TUE and THU AREavailble for next 3 moths.
        Some WEDs this month.
No Monday or Friday at all !

        • Normally this Friday, next Monday and next Friday would all be available right now, however they are all Public Holidays, so it's a bit of an exception to the rule. More days in the weeks beyond that only open up closer to those dates as I don't know the availability of our team this far in advance. You're able to change dispatch dates yourself post ordering, so you can always pick the week you want now and closer to that date you should be able to change the pick up day :)

  • Hey Tom, is this likely to be part of the regular lineup or is it more of a seasonal blend? Your description makes it sound like one really delicious coffee but I'm so fully stocked with beans ATM (and at least one order still to come!) that I wouldn't want to get something just yet.

    • +1

Hey @Chazzozz fantastic to hear this one sounds like a delicious winner for you!!!

Great question, always better to ask than wonder and miss out. The plan is for it to be a regular offering, however, it will depend on how well received it is in the early days of making it available. To play it safe you could place an order today and select a dispatch date as far in advance as 26 June and if you still don't need it then you can either freeze it to maintain freshness or further delay the dispatch when dates beyond 26 June become available on our dispatch calendar :)

  • Alright, ordered 3 different 1kg bags, as I'm running low on my usual, but willing to give these a go and hopefully won't be dissapointed.

    • WOW that's amazing, what a terrific combo order, thank you so much, it really does mean a lot and is an opportunity I promise we won't take for granted :)

  • Please tell us - how many grams in/out and contact time for the new Nectar of the Gods

    • Hey @freedomofspeech all the brew guide info you need will be nice and hand on the front of the bag :)

      • +1

Have you thought about putting the brew guide info on the product page? For those of us who immediately portion out into 250g bags to freeze and throw the packaging away 😅

  • Please don't use courier Please. My order is still stuck and they have absolutely no support. No phone number or chat and no response to messages.

    • Hey @alx88 appreciate the check in!

Your order may or may not be stuck, simply because both Couriers Please and Australia Post don't have live tracking, it's point to point, so updates only happen after an event and the wording of their updates is a bit ambiguous. We continually monitor any delivery issues, by documenting any delivery hiccups, to date both Couriers Please and Australia Post experience roughly the same amount of issues, it currently sits at 0.8% of orders have some form of delivery hiccup. If the issues become heavily swayed towards one particular carrier then we'll def need to reassess our contract with that carrier. For future reference if you really only want deliveries from 1 specific carrier, you have the power to select that specific carrier at the checkout. I'll be happy to check on your shipment for you, please simply send a reply email to your tracking info email with the request. Another thing for future reference, as I know both Aust Post and Couriers Please could do a much better job with tickets…the way to speak with a real person from Couriers Please is to do the following (they don't advertise this method as I guess they don't want to get swamped with queries), send an email with the subject line "URGENT (followed by the tracking number)" and in the body of the email detail the exact issue, send this email to [email protected] :)

      • Are you claiming that Australia Post also doesn't have any support? My issue is the support not the order getting stuck. You have sent them an email and cc'd me and they have not responded. There is no phone number. Just a useless AI chat that opens a case for you and nothing ever happens. Please don't use them.

        • I hear your frustration loud and clear, it's duly noted and I'll pass on the feedback to them!

I am not claiming Aust Post has no support, I'm simply agreeing with you and also saying I think both delivery companies could do a better job. I will send them a follow up,. It's been less than 48 business hours since the ticket was opened and the request to change the delivery suburb after the order has been dispatched is a little tricky from the delivery company perspective as they need to locate the order, put a new address on it and then redirect delivery to a different suburb, I know it sounds easy enough, but when they have millions of parcels in transit it becomes more of a complex thing to resolve for you :)

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: Your ticket is 48 hours, mine is since Monday morning and no response. Please let me know if that's similar to your experience with Australia Post support.

            • @alx88: Both companies response time varies depending on how busy they are and the type of issue the needs resolving. I've also found that there's unfortunately not a solidified response system in place, e.g. sometimes I'll get a written response and sometimes they'll call me to resolve the issue, either of the two responses doesn't appears to dependent on the issue and instead depends on discretion of the individual person who receives the ticket. I've had super speedy, great personalised responses from Australia Post and I've had delayed automated responses from Australia Post where they've sent the wrong automation, so it's not relevant to the issue and then I need to follow up further. As I've said both companies could do better, but I also understand there's likely some complexities I'm not aware of with the scale they have that makes improving these areas although important, somewhat complex, costly and time consuming (not an overnight fix) to implement. I know there are aspects of these areas they're currently working on improvements, but I don't know and they likely don't know an exact implementation date.

  • Hi Tom, enjoying your coffee so much I have orders that will keep me covered all the way through to July. When can I expect to see deals that break through the EOFY for dispatch?

    • Hey @Barnesworth how wonderful to hear, absolute music to my ears, thank you so much for your terrific orders, love your planning ahead skills!!!

Still need to get a few more ducks in a row until dispatch date options open up further, but as soon as they do I'll let everyone know :)

  • I think people saying $40 for 1kg delivered is expensive must be used to buying cheap and very average (dare I say low quality) coffee :) and probably also roasted months ago.

My local high end roaster charges $60/kg, and Lime Blue is definitely as good as that. Probably better :) just ordered another kilo of lime blue :)

    • How wonderful to see that uplifting vote of confidence and thank you so much for another terrific order!!!

It's fantastic to know we're firmly in your good books, I promise we'll keep working hard to stay there :)

  • I bought 3 of LBs products over Xmas - NY period. The Moments to Memories, PnG single origin (recommended by LB for cold brew) and Brazil SO. 80% of this coffee is still in vac sealed bags in my freezer. Unfortunately myself, friends and family did not like any of these beans, I cant give it away. We are not dark roast people. I had hopes for M to M but the bean even at 3 weeks from roast tasted oxidized and dull. I normally buy from local Brisbane roasters however per/kg prices are starting to spiral northwards of $65. With regret this was not a win for me guys.

    • I had a similar experience with M2M, but am giving Nectar and one of their single origins a go.

      • Would love to know how things go with Nectar. Please let forum know if time permits. My setup is a Gaggiuino, IMS double baskets & a modified MD50. So the gear shouldn't be a limiting factor in my view. Even dialed in the beans I had were a 5/10.

        • +1

Hope gear isn't the problem, I'm on a Linea Mini, BDB and switching between x54 and Timemore s064!

And yeah I'll let you know I go this time around once the beans arrive and I dial them in.

      • Hey @Ayanami thank you so much for another terrific order and another shot, it's truly appreciated and an opportunity we won't take for granted!!!

When you get a sec, could you please send a reply email to your order confirmation mentioning this message letting me know the make and model of equipment you're using and whether you enjoy your coffee black, with milk or both?

    • +1

Hey @tightarse81 we lean towards more of a medium or light omni roast depending on which coffee it is, so it's a real shame we weren't an initial winner for you. I do completely appreciate that personal flavour preference is so unique to the individual that's it's tricky to be a winner for everyone, but that doesn't stop us trying!

All our orders are always dispatched nice and fresh, within 72 business hours of roasting. Although I can't guarantee you'll love the flavour of our coffee as that's a personal thing, I can guarantee you'll get a lot of freshness out of our coffee due to our dispatch systems, so if you think the oxygen it getting to the good stuff after only 3 week's then the simple solution may be a few small tweaks of your equipment. It's a little tricky to troubleshoot this 4 months later (always best to do an initial taste the coffee when it gets delivered prior to freezing, so you can reach out to us around the time of delivery with any queries), but we'll do our best to try, when you get a sec please send a reply email to your order confirmation mentioning this post and we'll go from there :)

      • Your Customer service is great Tom, appreciate hearing from you.
Ok i can give you some feedback via email.
I'm still looking for a bean supplier for our household daily and don't give up easily.
My process with preserving bean freshness is let the whole 1kg gas out till ~2 weeks after roast then vacuum seal 200g lots for the freezer. Get them out as needed.

        Cheers

        • +1

For reference Tom I vac seal and freeze into 250g bags upon receipt (in WA so it usually takes a week to get here at least) and then into single dose tubes when opened for use.

          • @Ayanami: When frozen does the chemical process of CO2 release stop. ie do you get those vac sealed bags out of the freezer a bit puffed?
Pre weighing and sealing in single use tubes makes sense but I haven't reached that dedication level yet. Kudos man

            • @tightarse81: Not sure if it freezing stops it or if it's already done by the time it get here; the bags don't come out of the freezer puffed at all

  • These guys have to have just about the best cart and checkout service I've come across for coffee. Delayed dispatch and the ability to easily tweak an order after placing it (quantities, options etc). Here's hoping I like the coffee just as much.

  • I love LimeBlue and their deals, Tom has great customer service. I'm a filter guy, and I havent had any success with pourovers with the single origins present. I think they just roast darker than what I'm used to. On the other hand though, the blends are fabulous for espresso and lattes. The Brazil SO was beautful as a milk based coffee beverage. If you're looking for something in that regard, these guys are gold for this price.
