i want 8k 27"
I want 70% off
For those wondering, yes this is higher than the ATL for 5120 x 1440 QD-OLED 240hz monitors of the same - or similar - panel generation.
Having an ultra wide already. Does anyone else feel that it’s almost too big too on a desk ? Thinking of down sizing to maybe 27
Go look at them in a computer store like Scorptec or Officeworks and measure your viewing distance from chair to monitor before making the trip out to compare. The specific model doesn't matter when you're validating screen sizes for distance.
I have a Gigabyte FO32U2P and a bunch of mates have hopped on the OLED 240HZ bandwagon. A few of us keep our old 27" IPS in portrait mode for documents to the left or right of the (new) main screen.
Reddit has mixed discussions, some want the higher DPI of a 4K 27" compared to 32", but there are quite a few people who bought 27" OLEDs and switched them for 32". Make sure you shop somewhere with a good return policy since change of mind isn't covered by Aus Consumer Law which is understandable.
34" isn't too bad you'll get used to it.
In summary: Without knowing the size of your ultra wide 32/34" is quite pedestrian and few have qualms. 27" could be too much of a downsize.
Have a Dell 38” Ultrawide as an upgrade from a 34” Ultrawide.
It’s perfect. 3840x1600 at 120Hz 10Bit.
My 2560x1600 30” Dell unfortunately kicked the bucket after 12 years and the increase in width is fantastic.
Pretty much the spec I wish would come to OLED at 240Hz (and a milder 1800R/self bending curve).
How did you find the move from 34 to 38”? Did it feel noticeably bigger? I saw a comparison chart and 39” doesn’t seem that much bigger than the 34, while 45 I think it’s just a little too big for my desk.
No issues here. I have a 34” ultrawide (the 2023 version of this) and a 32” 16:9 monitor on my desk. Works OK for me.
You can't compare an ultrawide 34" 21:9 monitor to a 27" 16:9 monitor. The 27" will be the same height as the 34" ultrawide, but slightly narrower.
When you ask if it is too big for a desk, do you mean that it is too wide, too tall or too big because you are sitting too close to the screen?
My 34" ultrawide is 1.5 arms length away from my on my desk and I find it a bit too small for the distance. If I was just an arm's length away, then it would be about right in terms of filling up my field of view.
Personally, at that price and for use, I'm picking up the AW3225QF from their outlet store for $1219 and another 2% back Cashrewards. I do love the extra real estate from the ultrawides though
you got a link for that? Cheapest i could find is from Amazon @ 1589
I'd say : https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/alienware-267-inches-oled-gam…
an …nevermind … on the google link they say it's the 32", but on the actual site it's 27" bastards.
@dukeGR4 Here you mate! It is a refurbished item but going from reviews from ppl who actually bought these they're pretty close to brand new and you still get the 3 years Dell warranty anyway
https://www.dell.com/en-au/outlet/refurbished-alienware-32-4…
ahhh ok, i prefer brand new. 3 years warranty is enticing… but since it's OLED i better not risk it!
@dukeGR4: fair enough… but just so you know, if your brand new Dell monitor has any issue, you'll get a refurbished one as a replacement regardless
@educalifa: Not all the time. My AW3423DW 1st batch developed image retention, and it was replaced with a brand new one in a sealed box, with everything brand spanking new. If they can refurb a monitor, they would and use that for warranty, but it seems that for QD-OLED, the returned ones can't be refurbishes (I guess you can't refurbish a monitor with image retention at a profitable price anyway).
Tossing up between a 32” 4k oled or the lg 5k ultrawide oled. Mind you most common use case is wfh. People say miniLED is the best for this but i don’t see any such monitors?
There are not many. There's the ViewSonic XG321UG, BenQ EX321UX and ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQX. They're all (especially the ViewSonic and ASUS) significantly more expensive than the AW3225QF. But OLED will get burn in at some point. And IPS/Mini LED is much brighter and has better text clarity (not such a big gain with the pixel density of the AW3225QF) and doesn't disk burn-in, so is much better for wfh or mixed useage.
Is it glossy or matte coating?
This new AW monitors look ugly and very cheaply made .
I had two dell aw34 and AW38 nano ips has been flawless. The best monitor dell made in terms of quality and also no ghosting.
Still going strong after 4 years !
Companies are exploiting the key marketing term "OLED" to maximise profits
In this case, the HDR capabilities are really nice, better than HDR with an IPS panel.
I have the older AW3423DW, and can't go back to IPS anymore. I have another Dell IPS side by side, and I prefer the QD-OLED so much better. Hopefully the newer models continue to improve the QD-OLED's durability. My first one had burn in after 1 year, with Dell replacing it with a new one under warranty. The replacement has zero ghosting, eventhough it has been 2 years with the same use pattern.
I'm unfamiliar with OLED monitors but am interested in getting one - what is better about this monitor (34", 3440x1440, 240hz) than say, waiting for a deal like this (49", 5120x1440, 240hz) to come up again?
I need someone to compete with LG in the 5k wide market already.
