What Bit Me?

Hi everyone,

I'm in Melbourne. I got an insect bite. It's 4 dots in a circle shape. In the picture only 3 are more red but there's a 4th mark to make the circle.

Please help me find what bit me.

I've googled and can't find the correct answer.

Thanks

Get your affairs in order and hug your loved ones.

    • Thanks, I've googled those insects (before posting) and the bite looks different.b.

Is this being downvoted because it’s AI generated? And then one below is also from chatgpt and is getting upvotes? I don’t understand lol.

This was also from ChatGPT so idk, maybe next time I'll say add in emojis so people don't downvote _(^^,)_/

I invited it, it was a good answer. Thanks

Unless you can rule them in/out, Id start with bed bugs, mites, fleas or flies

    spider … twice!

    4 dots in a circle

    Looks more like a trapezoid

  • If you're concerned maybe go see a GP?

    • +1

Not concerned but would like to know what insect it was to prevent it.

  • Any actual pain associated with it?

    • +7

      Reading the first post

    • +1

No, not painful, just want to know what insect it is, so I can prevent it.

    Tiny predator…..

It looks like those marks alien abductees get, are you missing any time and is your butt sore?

    • +1

The butt thing is just urban legend. OP better check for small lumps behind their ears or around the base of the skull or behind their knees though because they’re probably alien implants…

Could be the early stages of ringworm? Do you own the cat in your avatar, does it have any skin conditions?

    • Yes, my cat. Not ringworm though. Cat is only indoors and healthy. Thanks

🕷️ Insect Bite Analysis – Melbourne Case
    🔎 Summary of Findings

The 4-dot circular bite pattern on your skin strongly suggests a spider bite, most likely from a White-tailed spider, which is common indoors in Melbourne.

    • The four marks may represent:
      • Fangs and surrounding contact points
      • Multiple small bites close together
    • Redness and irritation are typical, but no major swelling or ulceration is a good sign.

    ⚠️ Is It Poisonous?
    • The spider likely injected venom, but:
      • It's not dangerous in most cases
      • White-tailed spider bites usually cause local irritation only
      • The myth about “flesh-eating ulcers” has been debunked by recent studies

✅ So yes, it’s venomous — but not seriously poisonous or life-threatening based on your symptoms.

    🧴 Care Instructions
    • Clean with mild soap and water
    • Apply antiseptic (like Betadine)
    • Use cold compress to reduce swelling
    • Antihistamine creams or tablets for itchiness
    • Avoid scratching to prevent infection

🏥 When to See a Doctor

Go to a GP if any of these occur:
    - Increased redness or swelling after 24–48 hours
    - Blisters, pus, or open wound
    - Fever or body aches
    - Bite not healing within a week

    📸 Follow-Up

Take another photo in 24–48 hours. If the area:
    - Becomes darker or blackens
    - Shows blistering or necrosis
    - Spreads or becomes painful

    Then get it checked.

TL;DR: Likely a mild spider bite (White-tailed). Venomous but not dangerous. Monitor it, keep it clean, and seek help only if it worsens.

Are you a Xenomorph by any chance?

      Good episode

  • Might be bedbugs? Where were you bitten? In your house? Out in the garden/the park?

For the moment just go to a pharmacy that is open and buy some strong anti itch cream. If it doesn’t clear up, you might want to consult a doctor next week.

    • This is the second time it happens, I never know when I get bitten so probably while I sleep. I've only seen those super tiny black spiders at home which seem harmless.

  • Sadly it appears that the deadly Trigonometric Wasp has claimed another victim.

    • It's a Sine of bad luck to be bitten by the Trigonometric Wasp. Maybe it's Cos he was out getting a Tan.

Looks like a four leaf clover to me. You’ve been bitten by a Leprechaun I’m sorry to say.

  • There are five lights dots

  • Watch "The Last of Us". I think this bite is the start of something.

Has the central white bump ulcerised yet? I don't say that to be alarmist, I mean more if it becomes hard and shiny and perhaps forms a small boil which may be filled with liquid or pus. If so it's most likely a spider bite.

Looks similar to bites I've picked up painlessly somehow/where within the house/garden. Only spiders I have inside the house are Spitting Spiders (which don't bite) and Black House Spiders (which have a painful bite) so I'm not sure the origin of mine.

Edit: And the very occasional juvenile Huntsman, but I can't imagine it would be one of them.

    • Thank you! I guess it's a spider then, one of the other bites (3 in total) had white in the middle but I put the antiseptic cream and it became normal again.

  • I prescribe a new camera
