A Week Holiday in Bali in July (School Holidays Period) with Family

Comments
Thank you :)
Which areas to focus for booking Villa? or any specific recommendation based on your experience.Canggu was nice
Bali? Sorry to hear.
A week holiday in Bali in July (school holidays period) with family.
Which year? Left it a little late for July 2025!
3 months before is too late?
Generally yes if it is in school holidays. Prices will be going up quickly.
If you haven't booked flights, try and go Garuda if there is not much price difference. We went at christmas and flew garuda over and virgin back. I'm not a tall person but Virgin killed me with the lack of legroom on the 737.
I think Batik Air to be in certain low price range of $500-$500 max per person, return and with checkedd baggage.
@foxmulder: Batik Air from 7/7 to 14/7 out of Sydney is $1378 return each (using Kayak) Otherwise Phillipine airlines is 927 but flights are crap. Could do Cathay Pacific and a night in HK? It's school holiday prices.
Unless you are in education like me, take the kids out of school for a week halfway through the term, save some money, avoid the crowds and you will have a better holiday.
@Karlotta - Margarita: You are right. Batik Air indeed fluctuates in price. Probably most times I did was outside those school holidays period.
3 months before is too late?
Yeah mate, booking a holiday to Bali over the school holiday period 3 months out, is leaving it too late if you want a BARGAIN.
Possibly in some areas.
Never too late if you are happy to pay the higher holiday surcharge fares.
But typical OBers try top avoid thatBut typical OBers try top avoid that
Hence why they have left it too late for July 2025….
What kind of holiday do you want? Resort, beach, shopping, cultural?
I assume OP wants a family friendly holiday which, IMO, would be a villa, close to the beach, restaurants, shopping malls, activities…….
seminyak is a good place to start, it's technically everything you need. Then they can travel wherever from there.
Then you can download Klook to search up activities to book and do.
Google flights to search for flights

Agoda for accomodation, can sometimes get better prices from searching on google maps.

This post will not meet the approval of OzBargain (too expensive), but for what it;s worth
My wife organized a week for us at Nusa Dua (we just got back), 16 and 11 yo kids.
Stayed at Grand mirage, in a family kids suite - https://www.grandmirage.com/en/room-suites/kids-suite.php
Gave the kids a door they could shut, huge rooms, etc.
Took the all inclusive package and ate like kinds (6 restaurants, 24hr room service included, plus 95% of all spirits and cocktails).
That said, I believe we paid about $8.5k for the flights, accommodation and package…. but since I paid it off between Xmas and when we went, whilst i was there, it felt "free".
(This is where collectively OzBargains poops on me for spending 5x as much as i should have, and not taking standby flights on MH370 and resort hopping on "trial" meals all week) :)
I am interested if you end up finding something, and what it costs, so i can be more OzB-ish on my next trip!
Lazy river open yet?
Was scheduled to open 5 days after we departed :(
Personally, I’d recommend reconsidering. Bali Belly seems more widespread than ever. We went over Christmas and New Year and ended up sick for a week, which ruined most of our holiday. What’s surprising is we’ve travelled to places like Mexico, Vietnam, and Malaysia without any issues, but Bali hit us hard.

Only came accross this req today, so not sure if you have booked yet. Here is my 2 cents worth:
1) Kids of that age will be bored in a stand-alone villa. Much better to select a resort with kids' club facilities. That way Mom and Dad can also have a holiday.
2) Waterboom park in Kuta, is a terrific place to take kids. (Recommend a beach resort in Kuta or Legian for that reason)
3) Do all the legal paperwork stuff online before you go. Speeds up your arrival at the airport tremendously.
4) In Bali, you will need cash. The best way to get it is to use a major Indo bank ATM. (Not one in a convenience store and not a Commonwealth Bank one either) Get a free Aussie savings account that gives you a card to withdraw Indo cash without any fees and at a favourable exchange rate. UBank or Macquarie are great examples. (Note: Generally, any account/card that has the word 'travel' in its name will have a terrible exchange rate)
5) If your phone is modern enough, get an eSIM to provide data for travelling. For example, download the Airalo App and go from there. If you use the code PROMO6768, the week will cost you $4 per phone. ($9 - $5 for using the discount code) You can do this in advance. The week's validity only starts when the plane lands in Bali.
Hope at least some of these help. One more tip:
Download the Bluebird App on your phone.
When you arrive in Bali, order a Blubird taxi to pick you up UPSTAIRS AT DEPARTURES. ( Send a note to the driver via the App telling him you are at departures)
This helps to avoid the throng of Transport vendors at the arrivals exit.
Bluebird taxis are much more affordable and are the most trustworthy way of getting transport.
book a villa, mostly self contained
easy to get food delivered by grab/gojek
wait for the next deal from travelkon for sim cards
