Excellent, had a mate who needed a JB code earlier I'll send this too lmao

      5G got your brain?

User's circumstances varies WIDELY & just because SOME have bad reception &/or experience does-NOT means all will have the same.
I use ALL 3 carrierS mobile-data in the last 12 months via my monthly churn-sim: have NO-problem with ALL…likely because I live 5km of CBD in a big-city.
Take EVERYTHING you read as a guide-only, including confident-OzBargainers: their comments likely to reflect their-trait. YMMV 🤔

    • +5

Not really a good bridging service seeming as it gives you a completely new phone number for the trial.

      • +1

1st sim: park my MAIN mobile # else where & hence NO-port-in.

2nd sim: I churn monthly for data, call & sms, eg https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/897596.

This offer is bridging-service for the 2nd sim, since deals don't alway line-up to provide a continuous service. If I know a RE-placement sim is coming within 7d of my expire-plan, then I'll activate this plan.

        • Smart idea separating the phone/text and data plans so you can churn :)

          • @liamisred: lol, look @ all the neg

            • @ab c: One of them was me, accidentally clicked it and won't let me unclick it and + (sorry!)

              • +1

                @liamisred: No offence taken…ego don't live here.

  • Is there any list available of new number discounts or deals?

    • +5
      • JB HiFi, 2 signup codes plus a birthday (or two if you strategize with the right timing and wait)
      • Sporting Globe 25 buck birthday voucher (recently implemented phone verification)
      • free burrito (or $ value of one) at Guzman
      • Shitty little nosh box from Schnitz

There the ones I'll be doing lol

      • +1

Hi. What do you mean by 2 codes from jbhifi?

        • +5

          Signup esim later this month

Initial perks account will be one. Sign it's birthday to May, you will get the birthday code a day or two into the month.

Signup again with same number, that will give you the third code. Set your birthday to June, they will early June email you a second bday code, forth total.

      • How many times have you used the same phone for signing up to GyG?

        • +2

More than I know, BUT, that's because I sign up specifically on an old phone I factory reset every time. AFAIK you can only reuse the phone if you factory reset it, there are other methods but they're not 100% successful and frankly, I'd rather not risk it, so I just factory reset it.

If you're signing up to this deal and want a free burrito hit me up and I'll sign you up on said phone if you want sometime.

      door dash, uber eats, menulog

      • What will we get from those?

        • +3

          Menulog has $15off first order

  • +1

If in the app my sim says 'Plan expired' is that considered not active? I have that and no offer. Maybe targeted?

Ah (from the last page listing this) 'New and existing Optus customers who do not have an active mobile service and who have not taken the Optus Network Trial in the past 6 months'

  • Does anyone know when this deal expires? Or how long they have typically run them in the past? Couldn't find it in the T&Cs.

    • Until management try a new strategy to pursue NEW-customers & change is constant.

  • -2

Will phone number be available for 6 months after expiry to receive SMS?

    • If you need it ongoing you're better off with the Amaysim 2 years for $10 trick

      (Search my comment history)

      • Any calls included?

      • +1

Replying to this post with the method courtesy of @ab c

        1) Wait until Colesworth has a $30 starter kit for $10 dealio going (EDIT: Amaysim themselves are doing one now )
        2) When you activate the SIM, select the 7-day data pack. You will still receive SMS/calls after the data pack expires.
        3) The remaining $20 credit will expire in 365 days. On day 364, activate the $10 PAYG plan. You'll be left with $10 credit
        4) Rinse and repeat on day 364 of the PAYG plan

  • Tried to sign up for this but couldn't get past setting a password for my new Optus account - kept on getting this random error:

"Something went wrong while saving your password. Please try again."
    https://imgur.com/a/5cpJeS1

Trying to reset password doesn't help - I get the email, but then just get this error again when attempting to reset the password.

Optus phone support couldn't help because "it's not a paid line" (and they needed to be explained to about the whole thing - they had no idea); Optus store in Sydney CBD couldn't help because "we don't have any idea about the free trial".

    Pretty pathetic honestly.

    • Trials & errors: try resetting your password using Optus-APP: likely to take 24hrs to be reflected on desktop: likely a different-system different browser: FF/Chrome/Edge etc?

      • Can’t log into the Optus app because the account set-up didn’t complete - password setting glitch happened during account set-up. Resetting password from the app results in this error:

        “We cannot complete this request

We cannot complete this request right now.
Please try again in 24 hours or message us.”

But you can’t message Optus unless you’re logged into the app…

I’ve tried different browsers and devices even, but can’t get past this.

  • Disposable account incentive.

  • I never had Optus service before. I activated this 7 day eSim service last year and a credit card number must be provided to activate a service. Tried 7 days and cancelled straight away before any recurring charge incurred. BUT my credit card was charged $10, $10 and $20 from 'Optus Melb' 45, 60, and 90 days after. Called Optus 3 times, different reps, none had any ideas. Claimed back from credit card provider as unauthorised charges.

    • Remind me of good old days when i was with optus service, took 3-4 months to stop billing after stopping the service. So they are still the same

      • What's so ironic was that none of the reps can find what $10 charge is for. Optus doesn't have any subscriptions/plan renewals that are priced for $10.

    • I'm pretty sure by default the plan just lapses

    • +1

a credit card number must be provided to activate a service

Likely a mistake in sign-up with busy-screens-> 'No credit card required', https://www.optus.com.au/customer-extras/network-trial
      I have signed up 2 NEW-accounts: ~ Jul-24 & Feb-25 & both didn't mandate a credit-card.

      Delete your card details?

  • Anyone having trouble downloading the eSIM?

  • Excellent deal, copped it on an iPhone 11. For some reason didn’t want to work on an iPhone SE ( guess those can’t do eSim)
Also if you try this in a phone that ever had an optus service active it won’t work ( may have to factory reset)

    • I used esim on an iPhone SE before.

      • Huh, guess mine was messed up somehow :(

( I think maybe because 2 years ago I used Optus sim with it )

  • Does the eSIM / number keep working eg receiving sms after the 7 days or completely cancelled?

Anyone know or a eSIM similar to Aldi $5 or Vodafone $2 where you can activate, have a plan but then let it lapse and still get sms received on the number for a while after, that’s actually eSIM?

  • No-> 'Does the eSIM / number keep working eg receiving sms after the 7 days or completely cancelled?'

Anyone know or a eSIM similar to Aldi $5 or Vodafone $2 where you can activate…

    Consider & wait for a $12 discounted Amaysim STATER-pack with $35 credit, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/896428
I'm using pSIM & it seems that you can convert to eSIM: must confirm with Amaysim to be sure, https://ibb.co/mVpc7VdD
Light reading & note that Amaysim CAN change their criteria ANY-time, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16391487/redir

  • I've installed the My Optus app but where do I find the option to sign up using your email and ID details?
    Step 2:
Sign up in My Optus app
Download My Optus app onto your eSIM compatible device and sign up using your email and ID details.

  • Anyone have luck getting the Esim?. I downloaded the app, entered my details, got the confirmation email and that's it. No other clues how and where to get the Esim. Can't even register to login.

    • Once you get the confirmation email, they should email you to verify and set password. Once done, all you have to do is install the app, enter your login deets, and it should do the rest for you!

  • Assuming its locked to one per ID, right?
