For example, if your Flybuys account is targeted with a spend $120 in one transaction and earn 3000 bonus points and you spend $150 on gift cards, you will not earn 3000 bonus points from that offer.

        The answer for Kogan appears to be one Ultimate gift card per transaction.

        If you have a look at the Ultimate gift card website (and links are in the deal description's table), each gift card page says you can only redeem an Ultimate gift card directly on the Kogan website just like any other Visa card. In other words, there appears to be no option to exchange an Ultimate gift card for a digital Kogan gift card on the Ultimate gift card's exchange portal.

        You could attempt to get around this by trying to purchase a Kogan gift card on the Kogan website using an Ultimate gift card, but:

              For JB Hi-Fi, this is against the JB Hi-Fi gift card policy, but if you only tell the staff member you want to pay by card (or Visa), this should be fine.

        The hassle:
        Hunting for the GCs at Coles like a maniac, convert them and go to the EB store to order or/to pay with GCs. Not to mention the chance of getting tampered cards. You sure your brain cells worth less than 20 bucks?

            @Mingenibbler: Worth a read through here.
            I haven’t really heard of any reports of affected Ultimate gift cards (yet).
            However, with the recent surge of tampered Apple gift cards, crooks will think of new ways to steal and you never know when you might be a new victim.

            My advice is don’t risk it just for a little saving. Digital gift cards may be a bit safer as they are tampered-proof but they also have their risks like getting hacked and balance go missing etc.

      Two reasons:

      1. Coles' checkouts are programmed to only allow you to purchase 5 gift cards in one transaction. If you attempt to purchase more than 5 gift cards in one transaction, the checkout will return an error message.

      2. There are usually signs at the gift card shelf saying a customer can only purchase a maximum of 5 gift cards. (Here is one example.)

      In reality, you should be able to purchase more than 5 gift cards during this deal, as there appears to be nothing in the GCDB post to suggest that a Flybuys card is required (which is the way Coles traditionally enforced purchase limits for gift card deals). Having said that, if staff choose to enforce the 5 gift card limit per customer rule, they can do that.

          The only major benefit at Coles is that you will earn Flybuys points at the standard earn rate (i.e. 1x point per $1 spent).

      Coles has a transaction limit of max 5 gift cards (any combination, any value) per customer, per day, the limit is built in to the register system and cannot be overirdden. The policy is in place to reduce the risk and losses to scammers (that is, people buying gift cards to pay scammers posing as the ATO etc.). If you purchase 3 or more gift cards they will generally hand you a scam awareness slip.

      If you need more than 5 gift cards, you can still buy them it just takes a little more running around. If you bring someone with you, you can buy 5 cards each. Or, you can go to two (or more) different stores and buy 5 at each, or, you can can go two days in a row a get 5 each day.

      Also, as long as the offer is not linked to flybuys, you can try to work around the limit and hope the staff don't notice, don't go through self serve though, they'll likely notice you going through there twice in a day!

    For anyone interested in using an Ultimate gift card at boohoo, please be aware that boohoo stopped participating in the Ultimate gift card scheme effective today. That means if you purchase an Ultimate gift card with the boohoo logo on the packaging, it actually cannot be redeemed at boohoo.

      I have never seen Airbnb participate in the Ultimate gift card scheme (or the TCN multi-retailer gift card scheme, for that matter).

      I have only seen Airbnb participate in a small number of multi-retailer gift cards (e.g. Prezzee's Smart gift card, ShopBack's Super Swap gift card). Alternatively, have a look at the Discounted eGift Card wiki to see whether you already have access to a discounted gift card portal that sells Airbnb gift cards.

      It depends on the version of Ultimate gift cards you purchase. Using this image as a reference:

      • If you have a Generation 1 card, the Ultimate gift card expires three years from the date of issue.

      • If you have a Generation 2 or Generation 3 card, the Ultimate gift card expires on the date printed on the packaging and the physical gift card (which is a minimum of five years from today).

      You can confirm the expiry date of physical Ultimate gift cards after purchase by using the balance check website for physical Ultimate gift cards. (This is outlined in a FAQ.)

        Thanks. This is decent expiry, basically allows to have 3 yrs as minimum and at that point i can swap it for LE account credit and that credit lasts for a year. So worst case, total of 4 yrs validity. The challenge will be i wanted to buy abt 5k worth, with the denomination available means i have to buy 100 separate giftcards. That's some effort, lol…

          Yes, Gen 1 cards have always been included in past promotions, and there is nothing in the Coles catalogue to suggest this promotion is any different. I bought Gen 1 Ultimate gift cards during the prior upfront discount deal at Coles and the 10% discount was applied.

          The advantage of this particular deal is that it is an upfront discount deal, so if you are unsure, you can scan a Gen 1 card at a checkout and see whether the discount is applied to it.

          Gen 1 cards are being phased out though, so you will be less likely to see them at retailers going forward.

    Ok so say if I ended up with about 20 gift cards as I'm making a large Good Guys purchase, is there a way to combine the value so I don't make the cashiers cry?

      It wasn't that bad at EB games, cashed in 14 GCs and it took roughly 20 seconds for each one. The guy didn't mind.

      Go to the Ultimate gift card website, click/tap on the link for Exchange for eGift in the website’s menu, then enter your Ultimate gift card’s details. Once you have access to the portal, you can request to exchange part or all of your Ultimate gift card’s balance for an IKEA gift card.
