Subway Price Increase on Foot Long from $10.50 to $11.95

Has anyone noticed the price rises at Subway, they have been going up really fast. I ordered a Vegie Delight and the price is $11.95. They told me the prices went up yesterday.

Maybe it's their well advertised and noted 15% surcharge for public holidays?

    • +3

That would be $12.07 if my mental maths is accurate

      • +4

So, you are saying OP is getting a discount??

Posting it as a deal makes cents, cheers!

          I think he’s saying he’s mental

I just noticed that 15% on Public Holidays on the Subway App.
But then, it is more than 15% because their 15% causes the GST to be higher as well.

      • +1

        Its still 15%

If price was $10 ex gst, then $11.00 inc gst

+15% is $11.50 ex GST or $12.65 inc gst

        $11.00 + 15% is $12.65

Subway advertises prices inc gst anyway

  • I went to a Subway at lunchtime Thursday.

It really depends on the store. Obviously all prices will go up but some tend to have same prices for longer than the others. I still go to a store which has footlongs for $9.50 even if it is a bit further away. Even got a large wrap for $6.95 recently at a different store when I was travelling. So look around if you willing to go that extra mile

As already said above - depends on the store … after all, they are a franchise business.
And Franchises ALL price independently than others.

just ran through potential order for footlong Vegie Delight through my local == $10.95 … (so OP at $10.50 he was already getting a bargain).

      • Well veggie delite is $9.50 at mine so OP's getting ripped off. Its the cheapest sub so I'd say on average a good price for it is below $10.50

  • Almost $1 per inch.

I wonder if the length of these bland rolls has suffered the effects of inflation and enshitification.
Has anyone pulled out a ruler lately and measured their foot long?

I think the Italian bmt is still a decent price for what you get. Everything else not so much.

Not sure if it’s new as I don’t go to subway but have you tried their Philly cheese steak?

      • +3

I did come close to ordering it once but wanted the safe bet I’ve been ordering for years 😭

        • +2

Good on you for staying strong. I thought you might have tried one in case they’re a limited time thing.

  • Pretty close to $1 per 12th of a foot now.

    Almost makes sense.

of course it's because they are paying more for people who can't afford wheels and deliver on foot. that's how it should be.

by the way if you deliver on foot you probably only get the shortest distances so it makes sense they should be paid a bit more compared to someone that can just zoom around on a scooter.

lol, who order from Subway nowadays, 20 years ago may be, now banh mi FTW, you can even get it from KFC lol.
Joke aside, i'm surprised people are buying subway because every single store I went pass in the last 10 years must be a visa mill of sort given how quiet they're.

You mean they aren't 7 bucks for a footlong meat ball anymore?

  • At my local they have gone from $10.50 > $10.90 but as others have said it varies depending on the franchisee

  • +1

I don’t normally measure how long mine is, but will get out the ruler next time. Although I don’t want it to be too obvious as measuring it with everyone watching can be a bit intimidating. Maybe I will wait and do it one I get back to the office with it.

  • Yeah, I've noticed prices have gone up at two of the local stores.

Luckily, one of them still does that 4x six inch for $20 deal after 4pm but is restricting the deal to the vege delite, seafood sensation, pizza melt and turkey options now.

Wifey and I still get this on the odd evening for a cheap feed.

  • You guys have it lucky.

My local has been $12.95 for a footlong pizza melt for awhile now.

Some nearby subways do $12 for the same footlong or $6 for six inch where as my local has been $8.75 for a pizza melt six inch for as long as I can remember and I have been in this place for 10 years now.

It is blue mountains so traffic is much less and I assume getting stuff here would be more difficult compared to other me busy areas so I just took it as is due to geographic location and relative traffic.

  • would have to be the worst take out .. why buy it?

Well the store is in Artarmon, I have been going there for about 2 years, they were $9, then jumped to $10, shortly after about 3 months went to $10.50 then seemed like just only another 3 months they went to $11.95

The value is not there anymore, I'm quitting Subway.

  • I miss the buy one and a drink get one free on your shopping docket.
