Although I have not had any battery issues yet. Have adaptive charging on and charge wirelessly overnight entered my IMEI and was eligible.
Went through the process and was approved and will receive $714AUD payment from Google through Payoneer.

If you have a Pixel 7a its worthwhile to go through the process in case you have future battery issues

Timeline below for my claim

25th April - Submit claim to Google
26th April - Create Payoneer account
17th May - Payoneer email to say funds coming from Google
19th May - Funds received in my account

Total time was 16 business days which is within the timeframe google stated

Was $710 so $4 less than originally waht google said (exchange rates perhaps)

I just got my confirmation email that I will get refund of $715! Bargain… Setup Payoneer, now just waiting on the deposit!

    • The highest amount so far!!!

  • I just got my notification this morning, $709. I paid $730 for it, just a few days less than two years ago.

I guess my next step is to take it in to JB and see if I can trade it in?

  • How long was the payment processing time after Payoneer email?

    • +1

I verified my ID with Payoneer 6 days ago, still waiting on payment. Did say 10 to 18 business days in the email though

      • What ID needs verifying?

I've completed the step of setting up password, entering bank details, etc.

        • Govt issued ID. I used driving licence.

      • Payoneer wants verification for ID and also has a receiving account questionnaire that asks what is the nature of the business that you conduct and what your profession is etc

Did you have to do this recive money from Payoneer? Did I set up payoneer wrong?

  • Anyone received their funds as yet?

    • Still waiting. Did say 10 to 18 business days though

  • Mine finally got sorted today total of $707… Not complaining since i only paid $599 for the phone haha winning…

    • Just approved? Or as in actual money hitting your account?

      • Approved through Google and Payoneer. Just waiting for money to clear now. Don't expect anything for at least a couple weeks as per the email.

  • +1

I was approved around 10AM to the amount of 706 AUD. I guess the exchange rate they are using must be updated hourly or something given the variance for same day approvals in this thread. I'm now waiting for my Payoneer account to be approved for accepting payments from Google.

EDIT: I was approved a few minutes after account creation. I did not get asked to submit Government ID.

    • Me too. No budy ask for id.
But email from pioneer has strange thing.

NOTE: Funds will be transfer to your bank account only when there is at least $19.99 ready to transfer .

Does anyone else get same email.?

      • +1

Yes I got that email too. I interpreted that Payoneer which seems similar to say PayPal, will only transfer to bank accounts if it's more than $20. In this case since it's $700 it should be fine?

  • +2

April 26: I summited my claim. It was accepted for approval. My Pixel 7A qualified.

April 30: Unsolicited courtesy email received from Google saying they're on to it… When they have something "concrete" (their words) they'll let me know. Hmmm. Stalling.

May 6: Still awaiting a final claim approval. They're stretching this out in my case for some unknown reason. Still, by their own metric - a while to go yet…

    Thanks OP for this post!
I received an approval few mins back stating my device is under warranty and I'm eligible for the payment of AUD 708. I created my Payoneer account and once email is verified the Payoneer account got approved. The payment would be credited in 10-18 business days.
    Good luck everyone!

Note: I've raised my case on 26thApril

  • Did anyone receive money in the bank account?

    • I'm waiting for mine as well
My payment was approved on 30 April, but I still haven't seen the money in my bank account yet.

      • Is this a scam?

        • +1

no, the initial communication was through googles site, it's legit.

        • +1

I just read the email again.
We will expect the funds in our account in 10 to 18 business days.

Guess we just have to wait.

          • +2

            • @Jassy007: yea, have the same email from Pioneer

              • @lukie85: So did you keep $20 balance in ur account? Coz what if that money transferred and Google money don't come ?

                • +2

@Jassy007: I could be wrong, but I think it means if Google transferred at least $19.99(partially transfer), then Pioneer will start transferring to us. If any amount less than that will not transfer.

Should take around a month to process the payment according to reddit posts on this subject. Some have had battery swelling issues in Jan/Feb this year, contacted support (not as part of this programme as it wasn't around then), and was approved for a payment, and only had the cash in bank around a month later.

  • Finally received my email. $704.AUD. It took them ages.

    • In your Bank ?

  • +1

$703 email approval just came through this morning. Now going through the Payoneer payment process.

Thank you OP for the post. Thank you Google for the approval.

    Date of claim: April 26.

Thank you for your patience as we reviewed your eligibility for the Extended Repair Program for Pixel 7a. After careful review of your submission, we regret to inform you that we're unable to assist you at this time.

    • +1

I got the same email. It was for a handset that already had the battery swell and was replaced under warranty so I received a full replacement from Telstra. The new handset however still passed the initial IMEI check so I assumed the replacement was affected by the same issue but maybe not?

      • +1

The IMEI wouldn't have changed from that warranty job and the newer batteries don't have the same fault that the old ones did.

I'm guessing these checks involve making sure the battery hasn't been replaced under any previous warranty job. In these cases, there is no need to commence the refund as the faulty battery has already been resolved.

  • Both of my IMEIs got rejected instantly on my 7a I bought just over a year ago. Is there anything else I can do?

    • +2

It would mean your 7a isn't affected by a battery defect. Lucky you!

      • I want my $700 though 😂

        • You can have your $700. You just can't have Googles $700.

  • Anyone got cold hard cash in their personal bank account yet?

  • Do I need to be the primary owner to make this claim? Let’s say I purchased this second hand from eBay does that count for the warranty claim?

  • I have noticed a slight bulge in my pixel. Are people fixing theirs via AliExpress battery kit? Seems straightforward using YouTube tutorial

    • I fix it sells genuine parts from Google, I'd go there before ali considering the price difference

Which is what I'm going to do if mine swells

  • +1

    Got approved for 1x 704.
Bought 2x phones still within warranty but same email from google store. Will update when both clears.

    • Where u buying the phones btw?

    • Also did it work?

  • +1

28/4 - Submitted case to google.
    2/5 - Verified, claim approved. (715 AUD)
2/5 - Submitted the Payoneer request. Also approved on this day.
9/5 - Cash still hasn't hit the bank.

    • 22/5 - Email from Payoneer. (710 AUD) received in bank.
      Thanks Google

Found a reddit thread sharing payment wait times for a similar compensation programme for Pixel 4a battery issues earlier this year. The payment was only $50 in that case, because the Pixel 4a is so old. It's structured very similarly: apply to google, get asked to make a payoneer account, wait for payment.

Seems it took many people around a month after approval before they got the cash in that case, despite being given the same 18 day timeframe. So we may be waiting for a while yet if that's any indication.

  • +1

    Still waiting on my payment.

I find the Payoneer website concerningly phishy…

They are very pushy with their security questions.

Also lots of spammy notifications via SMS that you can't turn off.

  • What if it's not your phone swelling but down there instead? Do you still get the money

    • When that happens, mormally you're the one that would be paying the $714

      • LOL

  • Thank you for your patience as we reviewed your eligibility for the Extended Repair Program for Pixel 7a. After careful review of your submission, we regret to inform you that we're unable to assist you at this time.
    Any ideas why?

    • how many pixels do you own?
      do you have water damage?
      did you buy new?
      how old is it?
      are you having battery problems?

      • I got two request rejected…..

      • One pixel, no damage, never replaced, purchased just under 2 years ago at JB Hifi. No issues so far thankfully…

        • Strange it was rejected. That's all I could really think of. Maybe yours isn't affected?!

          • +1

@leeroys_dad: Maybe they fixed the issues for my batch? Who knows ;)

  • thanks so much OP

  • Haven't heard anything from Google. No emails and not in spam. Any way to check status?

    • The bottom of this page https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/16043453?hl=en shows the time that has passed since your case was looked at.

      • Sorry I'm looking but can't see where?

      • +1

I had a bar showing my case ID and case status at the early stages of my approval process on one of the Pixel support pages, but one day it just disappeared. But I still got approved shortly after. So I think it's inconsistent as to whether the status shows or not.

        • +1

Yep thanks. Mine disappeared so I went on live chat. They couldn't access the details but escalated on my behalf. Was approved the next day and now waiting for a payout.

  • +1

I had to follow up on chat but got approved now.

    $713 and Payoneer auto approved

  • 14 days and nothing. Will contact support if I don't see any funds in 4 days time.

  • +10

Woohoo received the funds ($710) in my account today.

26th April - Create Payoneer account
17th May - Payoneer email to say funds coming from Google
19th May - Funds received in my account

Total time was 16 business days which is within the timeframe google stated

Will update the original description of the post with timeline

    • Spent my refund already on a Pixel 9a, linked in this deal (today only)
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/906487

      $840 - 115.50 (topcashback) - 710 (Google 7a battery compo) = 14.50 cost
and $100 store credit as well

My son can have my still working Pixel 7a

  • Just received my Payoneer payout email. From 714 estimated from original email, but payout amount is 710.
I submitted mine the day the deal was posted (26th)

    • Same, i submitted on 30/4
Looks like they are working quick in batches

    • +1

I just got same Payoneer email today….still waiting for the $$$ to hit my bank account!
I submitted my claim on 26 April and it got semi-approved straight away.

      • Cha-ching! Money hit at about 4pm

    • Same for me, received the payout today with $710.
      Maybe bank fee deducted?

  • We’re happy to let you know that your transfer is now being processed. Your payment is expected to arrive by the end of the day. Payments processed late in the day or outside business hours typically arrive on the following business day. (In certain cases, a payment may take longer than estimated. If you experience a delay of more than 5 days, contact us.)

Note: Additional bank processing fees, landing fees, or intermediary fees may be deducted from the Amount Transferred by your bank or any other payment provider enabling the transfer.

  • Started process 1/5 and received $710 today 22/5. Not bad for an almost 2 year old phone that work paid for originally! Battery is still going strong, I mostly use passive charging though if that helps.

    • Hiya, did you have to request a US bank account to receive the amount? Or just the initial Aus bank account details when signing up on Payoneer?

      • Just the initial Aus bank details

  • My pixel 7 dies on an android update. Anyone had any luck with this so far?

    • Is yours a 7a or 7? This battery extension program is for 7a only. For software issue, did you try to contact Google for support?

  • +1

My payment seemed to stall, so I just replied to the device support email which confirmed the AUD amount and asked what's the progress. They promised to escalate it and surprise surprise, a day later, I get the payoneer email saying money has been deposited in my account. Sure enough, $710AUD is now there.

    • OK Im doing the same. Let's see

    • I did the same, replied to google support. Waiting for the response.

  • Like others, money now in bank account.

    • Hiya, did you have to request a US bank account to receive the amount? Or just the initial Aus bank account details when signing up on Payoneer?

      • Aus bank account

  • +1

I just filled in the form to close Payoneer account now that i have received the funds

    • Is it necessary? Just wondering whether I should do that too

      • +1

Not sure, others have mentioned a $30 fee after a year. Website is vague, that charge seems to be if you have a card with them. Did not see any reason to take the risk (unless my pixel 9a ends up with issues maybe) so closed it

        • Thanks!
I just closed my account. But there's no form to fill in. Did you mean the survey? I didn't do the survey.
For me, it was just clicking on 'close account' and SMS verification.

        • I might close it just as well, but how would they charge that $30 fee anyway?

  • +2

Thanks to the thread checked the 7a and got $711 back which is actually more than I paid for it $675 back when it was released thanks to a goole promotion. So definitely a bargain
