Google Pixel 9 Pro 128GB Obsidian $1297 + Delivery ($0 C&C/In-Store) @ The Good Guys

200

Would say this is a pretty good deal on the Pixel 9 Pro!
Currently on sale for $1297, plus get 15% cashback today only via TopCashBack to bring the total down to $1,102.45! Mod note: Likely to be less as TC states that there is no cashback on GST, if it tracks that way, it would be $1120.14.

This is the first Pixel that I am finally really happy with :)

The Pixel 9a is also available, works out to be $719.95 (plus $100 storecash) - not too bad!

Hope this helps someone.

    That's not how it works.

    • How does it work?

      • The 15% is deducted with pre GST price. Using mental maths the cost will be about $1120ish.

        • Thanks for that

I would bite if only this is 256gb.

It's too stressful with only 128gb…

    • i just checked my s22 ultra and im on 124gb lmao fortunately i have 256gb, but unfortunately i have an s22 Ultra.

How does this stack up against my S21 Ultra 5G dual sim 512GB from 2021?

    • +3

One uses vanilla android and the other uses bloated samdroid*

*Possibly some other minor differences as well

    • This would be a much better performance, and camera-wise. The Exynos era of the Galaxy Ultras was a disaster. Just note it's also a much smaller phone.

    • +1

They're not from the same tier of phones , the 9 Pro is a significantly smaller phone. Here's the equivalents:

      • S25 Ultra = Pixel 10 Pro XL (unreleased)
      • S24 Ultra = Pixel 9 Pro XL
      • S23 Ultra = Pixel 8 Pro
      • S22 Ultra = Pixel 7 Pro
      • S21 Ultra = Pixel 6 Pro
  • $1287 via pricebeat button NOT ELIGIBLE FOR CASHBACK?

    • Conflicting reports, I wouldn't risk it personally for a few dollars…

      • Cashback terms say 'price match' isn't eligible, so same, wouldn't risk it.

  • This is the only phone that supports n258 mmWave 5G in Australia btw, any others are imports only.

Theoretical 14.79Gbps (Aggregated Bandwidth: 380 MHz for Sub-6GHz and 1000 MHz for mmWave), one of the fastest 5G modems available currently

Only Telstra has wide spread mmWave support in cities, with it you should see speeds well over 3-5Gbps in ideal situations. Vodafone has like 4 towers in Melbourne and Optus has a few more, but not as wide spread. In theory, you could see speeds up to ~6.5Gbps on currently available network(s) (600Mhz), realistically that's 3-5 at best.

Btw cashback is $176.86 so $1297 - $176.86 = $1120.14 (cashback never includes GST amount)

This is wrong - this model doens't support mmwave according to google's spec page. Only the fold supports mmwave for the pixel 9 series

      • Could be correct upon double checking, TGG can't confirm to me which model it is.

GEC77 is no mmWave, GR83Y (also sold in Australia) is mmWave

Edit: Appears the GR83Y stock is only grey imports

The Pixel 8 modem is known for being trash, would not recommend it. It's rated at 10Gbps and supports mmWave, but it apparently overheats, drains battery, and has poor performance in reality.

    • Whilst this was true for the 6, 7, and 8 series, only the Pixel 9 Pro Fold supports mmWave in Australia sadly.

      • Yeah it appears there's now 2 models, GEC77 and GR83Y.

TGG chat couldn't confirm which model theirs is.

  • Telstra was selling this for $699. That is all it’s worth to me now.

Wasn’t that a price mistake where all the orders got cancelled?

edit: my bad, they did honor

      • Geez, lucky those who got it

  • Thanks OP
    Ordered the Pixel 9a
    $840 - 115.50 (topcashback) - 710 (Google 7a battery compo) = 14.50 cost
and $100 store credit as well

My son can have my still working Pixel 7a

  • My experience with Pixel has been disastrous…
Front and centre it's ok.. but anyone that want's a little bit of control over the device and openness, could be in for a struggle.

    1) The ability to see what is connected to the phone when it;s running a hotspot is absent.
    2) Mircast nor any other embedded open display sharing standard not supported, stuck with Chromecast only. (no Miracast, cant stream to some TV's or fancy car head units).
    3) Contact relationships have removed the ability for me to call 'Mum' or 'Dad' with voice dialing, i;d been doing this for 7 years over several phones and now i can't
    - All i get is a 'Contact relationships' notification saying i need to select a contact to be that family member, i play the game and have a go at doing what it wants, still doesn't work.
    - This is an issue for thousands, many posts online about it.
    4) Google walled just randomly decided to dump my MyKi, added another as i needed to travel, 2 weeks later the new one is in the wallet showing 'expired' with an balance still o nit. - Also MyKi are not transferrable, so once it stops wirking in a wallet that balance is lost until you call MyKi and have them transfer it, but you have to call Google support first to get the MyKi number of the myki is lost from the wallet.

I spent about 40-60 hours with google support over a 3 month period trying to resolve some of these, but no luck.
They even sent a replacement phone to try while putting an $899 hold on my credit card (and they sent a refurb).
    Still no luck.
The on attempting to return the phone and avoid the $899 charge i couldn't because the return shipping label that i was linked to was a 0 byte PDF.
Then the alternate return method failed because the RMA number was 1 digit too long.
Emailed a screen cap of this incl the message the number was too long… and asking them to confirm the RMA number.
    - Please try a different browser or internet connection.
Sent message again with screen cap and reference to their own mail history that the number was too long, took this second screen cap to get them to wake up.
    - Oh sorry, try this RMA number
That number works, am directed to 3rd party shipping co, print triple of 3 different shipping documents, fill out the security document per the below instructions.
Below instructions are a jpg hosted on a google server that fails to load.

    Absolute shit show.
Last Google phone was a Nexus 6p… was a great phone.
Never going google again… they have 0 care what customers want and Android is heading in a terrible direction.
I've hated iOS and iThings forever but I'm reaching a point where they might be the less bad option (out of 2 bad options).

Tech is so broken in 2025 and we're all beta testers.

    • 2) There's various apps for this, though paid (low cost) or have ads when first opening.
      4) This happened to me with Apple wallet too; not a Google exclusive sadly. I think in my case it was my bank that triggered it though, it randomly dropped all cards from one bank.

The rest seems about typical of any customer support these days, it's a joke. You only get good support if they're ripping the seller off on returns (ie Amazon, eBay, Qantas Marketplace (they're via JB HiFi Commercial), etc). Any other store you get sent in circles and have to threaten to take them to small claims for any action…

Officeworks is okay, but I still have to go back and fourth arguing and waste ~1 hour to get an RMA label, then wait up to literally 1-2 months for them to pick up the item. Once picked up I don't think they even check it; it just gets refunded.

  • How's this stack with $1550 off? Do I get a $253 store credit or just the phone for $0?
