    Captain Haddock's favourite.

Geez, we really do pay a hefty alcohol tax. I saw this at Sainsbury's in London last year for 40 GBP (approx. $83 AUD). Normal price in UK is 47 GBP ($98 AUD).

Same as ciggarattes. Gotta pay to play.. and then expect free healthcare.

It's about $10 more in alcohol tax but they also have double the sales tax which balances things out a bit.

At 47 GBP that would be 10.56 GBP ($22) excise and 7.83 GBP ($16) in VAT. About $38 in taxes and $60 for the whisky.

At $101.50 it's $33.60 and $9.23 GST, about $43 in taxes and $58.50 for the whisky.

Which makes this deal a pretty great price, considering the volume that Skull and Barrel sell at compared to Sainsbury and it had to be shipped halfway around the world. I picked a bad time to quit drinking, I really want to try this!

  • How's the taste profile? Say compared to Cardhu 12years?

    Blistering barnacles, what a deal

I drove into Balloch along Stirling Road last October. The whole area reminds me a lot of Victoria, very touristy water-themed location, particularly with the giant SeaLife aquarium.

We didn't bother to drive past the distillery and instead soon found ourselves on the A82 which was quite a shock to the system after driving around remote Scottish roads for three weeks. After a cheeky stop at Dumbarton Castle, we went to Auchentoshan and Glengoyne. Auchentoshan has some token highland coos that might be near the fenceline for photos if you're lucky. We had better luck with the ones at Caerlaverock.

Glasgow is basically Scotland's Melbourne. We drove by the university and it felt like driving through Richmond. There were more coos at Pollock Park and the free museum there is fantastic.

10/10 would recommend the Inchmurrin. They should also do a wallaby drop.

Gift box with two glasses and six stones seems okay value wise too.

Neither of those are Australia based, you'll pay excise on them on top of that price.
