ING Osko Payments

I've noticed payments less than $1000 are now taking days to go through.
Is anyone else having the same issue?
Their support is playing dumb by asking which payments when there is only 1 on the day of my enquiry.
Their website claims payments under $5000 are Osko.

Edit: the support gave me some bs about account maintenance blah blah on various days even though i make transactions during business hours. Made another payment for $800 and delayed over an hour so far. I've sent a complain.

I'm with ING and my payments go thru straight away with no delay.

No issues here. But in saying that, when I send money to some ANZ accounts, payments don't go through as OSKO. Everything else is fine.

With some banks the first time payment to a new payee can be held for a while.
With Commbank its 24 hrs, Bankwest is 4hr. Macquarie depends on amount but 24 hrs if held

      • i havent had a single first time Osko held by Macquaire yet and ive sent some large amounts at times.
        Maybe its random ?

I've had no issues with macquarie for years but starting 30/4/25 I've had quite a few messages about delays.
Just today I wanted to transfer 2k to a new account in my name and Macquarie says it will be held for 24 hours and I need to confirm to continue. If I changed it to 1000 it would go through.

Annoying. In the end I transferred to a westpac account, and then from there transferred the 2k

@bohn: @Dr Phil @jimbobaus here is another macquarie delay I got today https://i.imgur.com/nE68OcW.png
getting quite annoying.. I had never had one before 30/4, now I have had quite a lot of them in such a short time

        • Yes I thought that too…but happened to me recently with Macquarie for an amount around $5,000

      • Yeah I get that, but these are to my mum or my brother. Been making payments to them for years and always the same issue.

The other bank must also be capable of receiving it as fast payment. Which bank are you paying?

    • Yeh its ubank

So far I haven't had issues. Hope the issues are only temporary.

Osko transactions can get held up from being flagged for security, although I've never had a transaction take more than 24 hours. Could be something about who you're paying had previous transaction issues. Or you're paying a bank that isn't part of Osko. Is it in Australia?

Their support is playing dumb by asking which payments when there is only 1 on the day of my enquiry.

That also sounds like a security thing. Either confirmation to ensure it's really you asking about the transaction, or they have limited visibility without putting in transaction details without confirmation to prevent fraud on their end.

    • I've used the account many times over about 2 yrs wasnt an issue until recently.
      Its ubank.

perhaps it has to do with which bank you are sending too ???

ESP. after in news this morning about leaked bank a/c details for roughly 4 of the majors (not ING).
Ubank (which is subsid of NAB) - would also be included in this too … as NAB was included.

Perhaps ING is now being super careful - in the next week or two?
As to transactions to those banks ???

[EDIT] … link to the ABCnews article … which I heard on radio as drove to work this morning.

        • Thanks didnt realise this happened.

      • It lets you only do x amount per day, did you already transfer money earlier today, and hence go over your cap?

        • No just small transfers not near 5k

Payment to someone for the first time can take up to 24 hours if deemed suspicious…

just do your $1000 in/out transactions at the start of the month

    • Its not for the bonus interest just everyday transactions.

There are some significant changes coming to Osko this year
Banks have already started updating their T's and C's to reflect the changes
The biggest change is the ability to reverse an Osko transfer, your banks terms will now state (if updated) that the bank can withdraw funds deposited to your account via Osko if the sending bank requests within 4 hours of the transfer.
I know ING was one of the first to make the changes required to the terms to allow this, maybe the system is being implemented etc which is why they are holding transfers up for some customers (including you)

    • Wasnt aware of this but this seems to defeat the whole point of fast payments. Punishing everyone cause a small group of people cant copy and number some numbers.
We're just moving back to EFT days.

      • I don’t think the changes won’t stop payments from being instant. Just that if a mistake is made it can be reversed in a set number of hours.

  • I called them two weeks ago. It was Friday night 7.30pm. I transferred $10,500 to uBank. The screen showed the Osko logo. I waited till Saturday lunch time and the money still wasn't in uBank. Called ubank and they said to call ING. ING said that the limit is $5,000 a day with Osko payments. The money didn't clear till Monday afternoon. So where was my money all that time from Friday night?? Everything is instant these day
