Spotted this convertible booster seat thanks to @yangguchunyang7612 post on the Tribe AP booster https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/903605

Lowest price ever, most baby store retailers are selling around $200+, RRP $300 so a very decent saving!

Booster safety higher than the Tribe AP if you want to spend $20 more. Kin 4.2 vs Tribe 3.8 according to https://www.childcarseats.com.au
From my limited search seems to be the highest safety rating in booster mode across all brands

Suitable for kids 6 months to 8 years. Think of the design realistically maybe 2-3 years old and onwards

Cons

  • Not ISOFIX (haven't found any boosters that are)
  • Not reclinable
  • Reviews says its hard to install with the belt install looping in and out behind the seat

Also known as the Prime AP at Baby Bunting $249 (sale to $199 sometimes)

Other colour is Black with limited stock

Have these. Decent seat with good head padding. As noted though looping the seatbelt behind it to secure the seat is a PITA. They do recline only very slightly, and the built in cup holders are handy.

Probably the best bang for buck for this type of seat if you can deal without needing folding ability and/or can leave them permanently installed (save for having to clean the vomit/sand/tan bark/sultanas/chocolate out of them periodically)

  • Does anyone know any seats that supports the toddlers head/neck when they are alseep. I dont like seening their head flop everywhere when im driving.

    • We use a small rolled up towel/jacket to support head. Head still floppy but not as much. Don't think any car seats support head tilt forward/flop unless seat is reclinable so they angle backwards

Try the Britax maxiguard 12m to 8 year harnessed front facing. It reclines and I've never seen my kids heads flop with this seat. We have 4 of them in different cars.

  • What do people think is the best booster? Britax? Or Infasecure?

  • Why do no boosters use isofix?

    • It's illegal to use an ISOFIX Booster seat from overseas in Australia because they don't meet our standards, and I don't think there are any made in Australia with ISOFIX.
It's very hard to find the reasons why, maybe it has something to do with a rule about a child over 4 years old must be secured with the vehicle seat belt?
With ISOFIX baby seats (0-4) the seat is secured with the 2 lower ISOFIX points and the top tether, I think I read somewhere that overseas boosters don't use the top tether points, that may also why they can't be used over here? The baby is then secured with a harness connected to the seat. Maybe a 4 to 8 year old is too big for a harness connected to the seat, in which case a seat belt would be needed anyway. Only guessing here, take it with a grain of salt.

Thanks OP, managed to grab one before they were out of stock.

    • i believe its a weight thing. which i kind of understand for convertible seats.

but a standard booster requires the use of a seatbelt anyway, so i dont know why you wouldnt want the seat secured to the vehicle.

      🤷‍♂️

my understanding is you cant compare star ratings across categories, it should give you a general indication though

  • Any recommendations for a new born baby OP? As suggested this is for 2yr old onwards?

  • Ideally you'd want a booster that uses the harness for longer, I think with this seat you have to swap to seatbelt after around 4 or so (one of the middle markers). Some Britax and infa are harness until 8yo.
