Copypasta:

the reason it's not popular is the same with the Xtreme 3, for something costing $300 ($599 RRP) and 32 x 20cm big the bass disappears quickly as you turn up the volume. battery life is decent though. it will be fine indoors but still expensive for what you get. the main upgrade for Xtreme 4 is the battery is quickly swappable and replaceable. if the battery inside dies you don't have to throw out the speaker this time.

this is the replacement battery JBL Battery 400.(amazon.com.au) don't buy this now it's full price.

Auracast is like a new standard of bluetooth multi speaker pairing.

it's just released but more new release speakers are meant to support it in the future, so you can multi pair speakers from different brands even. just depends how many brands will actually decide to pay and add it to their speaker.

I put the ATL from Commercial in brackets because I never had access to that. 😪

      • They usually have the best prices on JBL.

ok nice to know if you can shop there I guess.

tbh JBL is on the expensive side for all sizes, including this Xtreme 4 even at $300 price is probably not that popular. the only things going for it imo is loudness, reliability, replaceable battery.

Boombox 3 (again very expensive, over priced retail) is known as the best in it's category. the Xtreme models not so much.

@n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: If you know someone with an Origin Energy account, they can get you these prices…

click & collect is free at most store… delivery is $8

Black & blue are currently available.

@jv: ok. was about to add this to the last sentence.

(a lower priced but well reviewed alternative to Xtreme is Soundcore Boom 2).

              • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: I got the Charge 5, they are $137

@jv: ok same price to Harman Kardon Luna right now which is the same size. they are owned by the same company, but Harman sounds a bit better with more bass but doesn't get as loud and has a smaller battery inside.
