  • Does this still work if I don't vote?

    • +1

I haven't read the T&Cs but I would guess yes. There is no evidence you could present to Spotlight staff to prove you have voted (assuming you did vote). We have compuslory voting so the assumption would be you have voted or will at some time tomorrow.

      • +4

Will I be eligible if I don't vote 1 for spotlight?

        • Vote 1 for any party or not. you will be eligible,

      • +4

I should have put an /s at the end tbh

  • +1

    Good thoughts.

  • -2

Agree with OP. You don’t even need to put Labor, Liberal or Greens on your paper.

    • +2

      WRONG

For the lower house ballot (the smaller one) you MUST number ALL the boxes.

Put Labor, Liberal and Greens as your last, second last and third last (in whichever order you prefer).

Your vote will NOT count if you do NOT number all the boxes on the small ballot.

I'm putting Trumpet last as I'm sick of the unsolicited sms's.

        • Fair call.

Log onto the Electrol Commission website and take your mobile number off their records (or just put the number for the rejection hotline instead). I haven't had any political texts since removing my number after the "mediscare" texts back in 2016.

          • +2

@Lizard Spock: why would the AEC have your mobile number?

            https://www.aec.gov.au/FAQs/privacy-election.htm

the Roll only contains the names, and addresses of all voters (other than silent electors).

During a federal election campaign, you may receive unsolicited text messages, phone calls or letters from political parties. The AEC has no power under the Electoral Act to regulate the content of electoral advertising, or restrict the amount of electoral advertising that candidates and political parties may choose to communicate to electors or the manner in which they communicate with electors.

The AEC has no knowledge of where or how a candidate or registered political party obtains telephone number for electors. The AEC does not disclose the telephone numbers of electors to any third person including registered political parties, or candidates.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority administers the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) and the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth) and has advised that these Acts do not apply to the conduct of a registered political party. Registered political parties are also exempt from the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

            • @tonester: Thanks for that detailed post tonester.

Logged on to AEC website earlier to remove my number.

Only had street details and no phone number ( which they do definitely have)
so was happy no pollies can access it.

        • Agree those Trum's pet are sucks

      • You’re right thanks

    I assume phone is ok?

  • What $10 can buy these days in store? Struggled with their $5 C&C voucher last time. Ended up not using the $5. Not sure worth the trip this round.

Intesting purpose. Now I'm getting excited.

Are you an 11 year old boy at heart?

      • +4

        Gentleman, this is democracy manifest!^

    • Nice little curtain rod for around 4.50. Maybe some glue, idk.

    • +1

You could get something for $20 and consider the $10 voucher 50% off?

    • More wooden coat hangers. That’s what I’ll get if I go.

      • Many of mine fell apart - poorly made.

        • +1

I’ve only had a few out of 80 or so fall apart. I like them, especially for free which many of mine have been :) I got a bunch more with the cyclone money the other day

          • @Skatez: Most were free. Some failed immediately, some within a year.

    • threads, wool, seasonal miscellany for sewing etc, cute fake flowers ( horrendously overpriced tho)

I'm going to get a few metres of the finest, most wonderous fabric to make a beautiful dress for JV so we can dance together at the next Ozbargain dance!

For $10 you might be making a tube top and miniskirt 🤪

  • Coupon is single use, one per customer, per transaction.

So could I walk out and back in and use it again in another transaction (assuming the coupon QR code is generic)?

  • If we don't have physical card, do we just login and show our member number?

    • Or you can type your mobile number at the checkout and add it that way

    • If I ever had a card I have no idea where it is. You just tell them your phone number.

  • +2

Thanks, nice to have a fresh tube of epoxy glue ready to go when I break something 👍

    • +1

      Good idea!
Got out Gorilla glue bought with a $10 voucher. Had been waiting for a breakage for years - had set hard.
      Currently $14.40 - $10.
      Other cheaper glues available.

      • +1

Uhu 2-part epoxy $9.60. I probably go through it fast enough with nerdy hobbies and breaking things to have that issue.

        • +2

Have a range of glues for different purposes (including 2 part epoxy).
All bought free or cheap with Spotlight vouchers.

Little disappointed when needed an expanding waterproof glue last week, to find it set hard😢

Off to Spotlight with my multiple $10 member offers in emails. And finish the repair.

  • Does it work for fabric by the metre? It says no to made to measure orders but I think those are curtains and blinds?

  • PSA: Watch Louis Theroux's The Settler documentary and you'll see the lack of humanity from Zionists. Humanity > deal for me when it comes to business that are supporting Zionism

    • +3

But if you get a $10 item for free from Spotlight, isn't that even better (by your standards) than boycotting them?

  • How to get coupon?

  • +1

Wonder if this works with the Sodastream canister exchanges? Been needing a new one for a while now but it is a hard price to justify.

    • +2

Just tried to use it now and the coupon wouldn't work. Apparently according to the store manager, the codes are unique and this one from the post wouldn't work.

      • +2

Code is not unique. I got the sms, but used the one here

        • I never received a text, so it must know whether or not you got the text based on when you also scan your VIP card

          • @XVX: Which store?

          • @XVX: Agree code isn't unique as I have exactly the same one

          • @XVX: My partner’s can claim without even having mobile phone on the online account. Ur store manager just made up excuse. Our stores were aware, even there’s 1 staff directing the ones claiming voucher to cashier, while the rest to self-service, to speed up queueing

      • I just used it in SA, Trinity Gardens, not a problem

        • Did you get a text or email about it? I have their text and email notifications disabled so I am wondering if that might have been why it wasn't working with my VIP card

          • @XVX: No text or email.
In fact, I opened up my account last night

I didn't show them any VIP card, I just gave them my mobile number linked to my account

  • Has anyone else used the qr code posted by op?

    • +1

Yes I have (in SA, Trinity Gardens).

Bought some lollies, $9.60, gave them my mobile (linked to my free Spotlight account), scanned QR code.

Walked out with free lollies with the kids

    • +1

Yes, successfully used the code on ozbargain with two accounts - mine and my sisters. This was at Cranbourne (Vic)

  • +2

I was able to use the discount, from my email. Salesperson made me spend over $10. T&Cs state no drinks, successfully purchased 2 X Pepsi and a bag of lollies for $2.30.

    • It says no minimum spend. Strange they would ask you to spend over $10

  • Cashier had a sook because I didn't have my barcode. Just my member number on hand. Said it's impossible to put it through using member number only until her co-worker did it for me. Did anyone else have this issue?

    • +1

No problem in SA, Trinity Gardens.
Sounds like you found an over zealous employee

  • Store didn’t honour the coupon said the total value needed to be $10+

    • Makes me angry when the terms are clearly advertised (no minimum spend), yet the rules are changed at the till

    • Grab an item next to the checkout… Process it..

Then say I need to return this….

    • In my experience, Spotlight vouchers are known for this though. Even if it says no minimum spend, the minimum spend is usually equal to the voucher value

  • free $10 hand towel today. thank you
