Saw the lucky mobile deal for $230, but they don't have cashback. I then went to Boost website and found that it's selling for $255, sale ends 19/5/2025. 290GB on new activations by 7/7/25.

Shopback is offering $42 cashback on the $300 SIM so it's $213 delivered.

Extremely disappointed with boost after porting from Telstra. 5G virtually non existant, 4G patchy Inner SE suburbs Melbourne.

    • hmm, I thought Boost utilise the Telstra wholesale network/towers?

      • So did i. Maybe even Telstra has deteriorated in my area or boost is lower priority

I'm switching to Voda when my 12-month Boost SIM runs out next month. I am sick of their crappy reception in Melbourne CBD (particularly irritating in the City Loop), and the price increases the past couple of years. I visit Nagambie pretty regularly to see family and Voda's data reception used to be nonexistent, but I tested it over Easter with a cheap Lebara SIM and it's fine now. No reason to stick with Boost.

      • me too. i didnt love kogan but it worked as well if not better. i wont renew boost when my year runs out..

Sim slutted to voda for a while last year and found it solid on speed and signal. Very surprised and in no way affiliated. ( Will take a kickback though if youre reading voda)

Eastern Suburbs here. 5G almost everywhere I go.

      • It's probably quite phone and case dependent.
People don't really pay attention to the phone antenna location or bands it's capable of.

Re: the entire arguments on Whirlpool and here for people importing the Oppo Find X8 Ultra that doesn't have full band 28…

I've used Boost on/off for 5-10 years and have only experienced coverage issues when working in developing areas (SE suburbs), but this has since been improved with the introduction of additional towers.

Extremely disappointed with Boost in Brisbane. Ported out of Boost to Catch connect to port back to Boost for another year. Here are my observations:
    1. Boost shows 5G almost everywhere in Brisbane. Catch 4G - not great reception almost everywhere. **********However, here is what it corresponds to as a service >
    2. Calls with Boost not always starting straight away (felt like not enough cells in the area). Catch calls are happening straight away.
    3. Apps that rely on data can't get internet (A LOT of times) with decent 5G around. Catch (optus) never had the same problem, even with 1 bar on 4G.
    4. Maybe I fed up with boost, but at home I don't have any Telstra or Optus reception. VoWiFi seem to work much better with Catch…

All above don't have to be right or wrong, just sharing my observations… I'm with Boost for the 5th year in the row, feels like it is getting worse with every year passes. Now it's even not a value for money (to me).

    YMMV

That is just 5G, it is trash. I work in the Brisbane CBD and use both Optus and Telstra 5G, speeds are slow I have turned off 5G on both providers.

      • 5G has basically no signal penetrating potential.

If you can't directly see a tower you probably have no throughput.

And yet somehow crazies think it's giving them cancer lol.

        • I have 5G turned off because I don't want to get cancer haha jokes

    • That's a congestion issue. It's always going to be like that when there's a lot of people trying to access the same tower. And with OzBargain having these deals every so often, the Telstra network is heavily impacted. It doesn't matter if you swap to 4G/5G. They both come off the same pole and share the same bandwidth.

  • Quality site - enter payment details click submit - SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG

We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later.

I tried twice! Any one else have any luck?

Tried just now - same error message.

SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG - on checkout.

        Same issue

        • This has been happening for months. I spoke to boost and they blame cash, i speak to cash back and they blame boost. I think its boost because i tried Top casback and cash rewards and both failed. I gave up and used Tangerine.

As per post further down below…try a debit card rather than CC

      • Thanks, can confirm that debit card worked for me.

I agree with a lot of the sentiment in here. I don't know what Telstra is doing but coverage is awful with Boost now. Optus and Voda both seem to be a lot better.

    • 100%! I had to switch to Voda after poor reception in lots of places in Gold Coast on Boost. Vodafone rocks!

  • +1

Shame so many people are having a poor experience with Boost. It's always been fine for me in Sydney/NSW - usually get 150-170mbps.

  • For everyone pointing out coverage , worth checking this site and the linked providers maps.
    https://www.infrastructure.gov.au/media-communications-arts/…

May go some way to explaining why you have issues, and why the generic coverage maps aren't entirely to be trusted.

I'm in the South East Suburbs of Melbourne, currently with Boost, just did a comparison with my partners Vodafail mobile and you guessed it, she has faster download speeds then me, double the speed!

    • Speed test are not 100% to be relied on, both open the same website/ video and see who's loads faster

    • +1

While speed tests are useful, they don’t always tell the full story. In some areas, Telstra can appear slower simply because there are more users on the network—especially business customers who tend to use more data—putting extra load on the towers. This means that in inner-city areas, Optus or Vodafone may actually deliver faster speeds.

However, Telstra generally offers better rural coverage and more consistent metro coverage, especially indoors. Personally, I’ve had signal issues indoors with Optus and Vodafone that I haven’t experienced with Telstra in my area.

If you don’t need the extra rural reach or the added reliability Telstra provides, an Optus SIM could be a more cost-effective option.

  • Still couldn't submit payment, has anyone been successful?

    • Used a debit card and it went through finally

  • Is it required that the sim card must be activated before 7/7 2025? Can I use it the late of this year?
