Citi Prestige getting shittier and shitter

As a bank they are in trouble. It's inevitable.

      • I think NAB who bought them is cutting the gravy train , the perks were too good to be true with PayAll!

        • -1

NAB didn't keep the credit card arm.

        • Many people got annual fee free for life citi credit cards, it would not surprize me if that goes in time..

  • +1

    Useless card at this point

  • +3

It's the last thing keeping me on the card after the payall cancellation.

  • Cancelled mine 2 years ago. Just not worth it anymore. The metal card is nice though.

  • +1

I got rid of mine last month. Not worth it anymore.

  • Given that Singapore's Citi operations were taken over by a different bank to NAB, I wouldn't be panicking just yet.

Having said that, there have been lots of feature removals and few additions with respect to Citi cards since NAB took over.

(Provided my FFFL Premier card is replaced with something FFFL with a couple of lounge passes, I'm all good though.)

    • Yep, still rocking with my FFFL Premier card. Only use it occasionally when there is a cashback promo, otherwise just for the 2xPP lounge access.

  • I will be cancelling card end of month after I return from overseas trip- not much benefits left to justify the card after demise of PayAll feature and light traveller like myself.

Will be cancelling if this eventuates

Off topic- but has anyone received an e-mail from Citibank quoting the card has been used for business related transactions? I received e-mail today:

    "Dear Craze,

We've observed what we believe are business-related transactions on your Citi Prestige Card ending in 4722. As part of your Credit Card Terms and Conditions and Other Important Information (Terms and Conditions), business transactions are not permitted."

We request that you don't make any further business-related transactions on your account, or we may need to close your account in accordance with the Terms and Conditions."

I checked my account and everything seem normal so a bit strange that I received this e-mail…

    • +2

Yes. (Plenty of reports of people reporting this.)

Proof positive that NAB is well and truly taking over, given the email is a. incorrect and b. threatening.

    • I rang Citi about this email, they said they had no record of it being sent. They checked my transactions and said they looked fine. I was told it was a spam email. All very strange.

    Well thats it then :(

    What are the changes?

    • We are updating the Citi Prestige Priority Pass™ Airport Lounge Access benefit. Effective 1 August 2025, unlimited lounge visits for you and one guest will change to 15 complimentary visits every 12 months.

    • You can now use your 15 visits to bring one or more guests in a single or multiple visits over a 12-month period.

    • One lounge visit entitlement is required per person. Your complimentary Priority Pass™ membership with your Citi Prestige Credit Card will remain unchanged.

    • Effective 1 August 2025, the promo code for the Citi Prestige 4th Night on Us benefit will change to: PRESTIGE4N.

The variation notice provides full details of the changes, as they apply to your
    Citi Prestige Credit Card.

    • based on the second line, does that mean it's not 15+guest visits, but its 15 visits entirely and you can use them however you wish, ie 5 visits with 2 guests each time, or 1 visit with 14 guests? that is a significant nerf

      • There is a link for the full t&c. One entitlement per person per visit, so 15 visits for primary and any accompanying guests. I guess the only thing got better is now you can bring as many guests as required within 15 limits.

        • Don’t think so.

          d. The lounge visit entitlement may be used by the primary cardholder and any accompanying guests, provided they attend together. For each visit, one lounge visit entitlement is required per person.
For example, a visit by the primary cardholder and one guest will require two lounge visit entitlements.

          • @canon1989: Agreed.

          • @canon1989: Sorry, my post was a bit unclear I guess. The 15 visits can be shared with accompanying guests but the guests also count towards 15 visits. I travel with my wife most time so it will be only 7 visits for us.

            • @hiaaron: @hiaaron - apologies, I was unclear. Your interpretation is correct, I believe. I travel with four usually, so it will be 3.5 visits for us.

  • Pro rata refunds due when we cancel?

  • Is there any other card with the same perk?

    • +3

AMEX Platinum, but you don't get access to the eateries.

      • Agree, AMEX Platinum is great for unlimited Priority Pass, but missing the $36pp ($72 for two) dining credits at airports is disappointing which Citi offered. With PayAll gone, the only real perk left is the free 4th night, which doesn’t justify the fee for me.

I’ll ask Citi about extending my Priority Pass after renewal, but 15 lounge visits a year is pretty poor for a premium card.

Any OzBargain tips for good premium cards? I use Amex for points where I can, Mastercard as backup when I can't and avoid using them overseas due to fees.

        • the reason this was always inherently unsustainable is because at airports, you'd be able to roll through every single dining credit location, loading up on drinks, snacks, and other merchandise.

if you are confined to one 'real' and 'genuine' lounge, you would likely only visit one at a time, maybe two, but you wouldn't 'hit' all 5+ dining credit locations easily in a span of 15 minutes :D

  • Keen to know if anyone has luck getting the card fee refunded, mine only renewed a couple of months ago and I already have priority pass through another card

    • Id complain then lodge a afca complaint , significant value take away

    • My anniversary was just last week, I transferred out all my reward points so going to ring them up to cancel.

      • Just called to cancel- they can only refund annual fee pro-rated.

        • This is acceptable

I’ll keep using it til July then see ya later

  • Reminder 15% from Citi to Virgin ends this month

  • Was just charged the annual and they wouldn’t budge on giving me a discount on the fee. They were happy to give a pro rata discount if I cancelled though. Asked them to put this into writing for me as I’m intending to cancel later this year once I’ve used up my 15 PP passes..

I guess the card is still not bad value for those that use the luxury escape 4th night benefit..

  • I’ve used the 4th night free successfully several times, but last week received a message ‘this promo code has expired’. I was able to book using prestige4n but no credit has appeared. Has anyone else booked since the changes notice came out?

    • new promo code is on the email they send

  • Just FYI tried cancelling and asking for pro rata refund , and they said they can’t allow it

For context signed up last November so it’s been about 6 months. pay all was already annoying they removed it and now priority pass but they said they won’t give the refund. They claim it’s their terms and conditions that they can change the services at any time

    What are my options here?

It’s funny I asked them to send me a formal email but haven’t got one yet.

    • if you read the new terms carefully, I believe they have another reason to decline and its because your priority pass will only revert to the 15 pass limit upon renewal of your PP. That means that for 'most' members that should be on the anniversary of the card.

So even if the terms apply before that date, the fact your priority pass doesn't reset to the new 15 pass limit, means you retain the unlimited until renewal (so nothing has changed hence no refund warranted)

      • where does it state upon renewal of your PP? can you show the evidence of the email as I am reading the email it doesnt state that

        • It’s not explicitly stated but your priority pass only renews on expiry, it’s the same with all PP memberships where it doesn’t check again for eligibility until expiry

          • @peter05: So unless they manually cancel it and we need to reactivate - it should be unlimited until anniversary date?

            • @scanuck: We'll have to wait and see for sure but in my past experience with priority pass, they don't recheck eligibility until anniversary date of whenever you sign up.

Having said that, in the email communications it does explicitly state on the 1st August it 'resets' to 15 visits so this situation could be deliberate and unique, as opposed to other times where they might just 'leave it' and can't be bothered updating them

              • @peter05: App updated to show only 15 visits remaining.

            • @scanuck: App updated to show only 15 visits remaining.

Citi haven't been recently forthcoming with pro rata refunds in the first year of the account if you've already gotten the bonus points.

If you're in the second year onwards, you might have more luck if you go through to the manager. I was successful in doing it this morning.

    • Have us churners ruined it?

App updated to show only 15 visits remaining. End of an era.

That's it, card closed after joining in many years ago when it was called Citi Select. Truely an end of an era of what I would say was the best value credit card ever. Was on $350 discounted annual fee since forever, together with the unlimited Priority Pass with eateries, free hotel night, airport pick up, Diners supplementary card, free PayAll points, 30k bonus annual anniversary points, $50 annual fee retention credit etc etc, the value I've been getting from this card far outweigh the annual fee few times over each year.

Truely sad to see this card go down the toilet since the NAB acquisition, I doubt we'll ever see another card like this again. It was good times…

  • Has anyone got pro-rata fee back for closing the card?

    • Yep see comment from Crowing

  • +1

I got offered pro rata today.

Was not to my satisfaction and I will be raising with AFCA.

Handled horribly - all they had to do was reduce benefits from next renewal date and let us opt out.
