Sensodyne offer about 10 different varieties.
Any recommendations on the best one?
    Is it just marketing hype?

I have noticed the whitening ones are gritty compared to the non whitening one (deep repair variety).

Also is the gum and sensitivity with whitening no good? It's the craziest at $5.52

I personally use the daily care / daily care with whitening as they don't have sodium laurel sulfate (SLS) as that gives me (and many other people) mouth ulcers.

Glad to see others have worked this out. I used to have intermittent skin peeling inside my mouth for years and it turns out it was because of SLS. I've been using various toothpastes without SLS since then without any issues.

For sensitivity I think the Sensodyne with Novamin works best, unless you are going to a more expensive toothpaste with BioMin F.

The Sensodyne Repair and Protect is the one with Novamin.

      • This is my favourite as well, have seen a noticeable difference in my sensitivity and gum health by using this toothpaste (specifically with novamin), brushing with an electric toothbrush and not gargling after brushing only before.

Second this. Repair & Protect is the only one that actually works with sensitivity for me.

      • Yeah the non whitening Novamin one is the best to get. All similar remineralisation products are usually much more expensive, particularly the Recaldent GC tooth mousse asking for an obscene price.

I personally like repair&protect better than complete care

The active ingredient is either potassium nitrate (Daily Care) or Novamin (Repair and Protect). I tried both a long time ago and both reduced sensitivity in my teeth, but Daily Care is on special more often so I just get that now.

The ones that include whitening reduce the effectiveness of the sensitivity active ingredient so avoid those.

      • Its on special more because its not as good, novamin is the way to go. The Novamin range was the last to switch to being manufactured in Thailand from the UK and because of this it was rarely on sale at the supermarkets even back then

Best consult Rachel who is an 'oral health expert marketing' over there at Sensodynes umbrella corp Haleon.

      • I assume you are referring to their asinine TV commercial. And of course they had to choose someone with great teeth from their marketing department to do it. Crooked teeth? You miss your chance of being on TV.

      • You leave her alone. She's beautiful inside and out.

    • I was a Sensodyne loyalist for many years, using only formulations with Novamin, as recommended by a previous dentist.

About a year ago I switched to Colgate plaque control and my teeth/gums are far healthier. I just don't think Sensodyne is good for plaque. The difference is extreme, even with all other things being accounted for (electric toothbrush, daily flossing, etc).

  • Thanks bought 5

  • Is your subscribe and save works? As mine show $6.9 each after subscribe and save. It shows subtotal as $6.21 and charges me $6.9 at the checkout? Seems like some glitch at website?

    • it should show the S&S discount on the right panel when it says Confirm Subscription instead of checkout.
