    Is 2Rx8 that bad nowadays?

    • +1

Depends what you wana do with your PC,
for gaming it's recommanded 32gb, but most games run well with 16gb except few games.
It's hard to say for productivity, may be the more the better,
for everyday browsing, youtubes, emails ect if you don't open too many apps or windows at the same time, 16gb enough.

      • 16Gb's is enough for everyday tasks. most laptops only have 16Gb's are they are perfect

32GB DDR5 is just cost effective because 2x8GB stick of desktop DDR5 are hard to find so everyone just buys that.

64GB's DDR5 will be a thing after 2027 when we see consoles coming out with 32GB's So there is no rush to get 64GB's today unless you have applications that use it

I do have 2x16GB, but I was just wondering if the 2Rx8 performance issues have been solved and 2x32GB is stable enough to run at their advertised speeds and CAS timings.

Not all Zen4 and Zen5 CPU's are guaranteed to run at 6000 CL30
But 99% of them probably can and some can even do 6400MT/s

Going from 32Gb 6000 CL30 to 64Gb 6000 CL30 put a little more work on the CPU memory controller and reduces the likely hood of it working stable but many people have been running that setup stable

I have a Ryzen 7500F + Gigabyte B850M Aorus Elite with Kingston 64GB 6000 CL36 running very stable for months.

Limiting the number of DDR5 sticks to only 2 is a must and also having a good quality motherboard 6 or 8 copper layer PCB helps improve trace signals making for less interference and for its to be more stable.

Any Ram XMP/EXPO defaults over DDR5-5200 for Zen4 is overlooking
Any Ram XMP/EXPO defaults over DDR5-5600 for Zen5 is overlooking

Zen4 and Zen5 use the exact same memory controller. AMD is just a little more comfortable to provide a refund for any Zen5 CPU that is unable to run DDR5-5600

One of the lowest CL for 64 GB DDR5, bought the same kit (the gray one) for 329 earlier this year. Definitely a worth buy if anyone is looking for ddr5 ram kits.

  • Don't need it, but if anyone's debating, this is a must buy. Crazy cheap!

    • +1

Same.. don't need it.. my 32GB's will be enough for me. Maybe in December 2026 when Zen6 comes out I'll change to 64Gb's

      • +1

I'm exactly the same, no need to upgrade anytime soon, 32gb is the sweetspot atm

  • Almost sold out already.. :)

Where are all the DDR4 deals (clearance etc) now that DDR5 is the norm?

    • +1

      64GB DDR4 3200 CL16 is like $150
      32GB DDR4 3200 CL16 is like $85
      on Amazon.com.au

No need to post deals.. its cheap and still no ones buying

    Noo i missed out

Got one thanks - Flight Sim 2024 is a RAM-hungry beast so this is going to help me no end

Missed out. Already ordered the same kit in grey from somewhere else last month for $339. This was a crazy cheap price for this kit

  • Damn, bought some cheaper 32 cl30 set while waiting for a cheaper 64 to come out and missed this.

    • I already have 32GB cl30 and didn't bother buying this :)… I feel like for me that extra ram would do next to nothing over the next 3 years

      • I had 64 on my old build and I felt sad about going backwards is the main thing I think, I did occasionally need it, but to be honest would have been fine without.

        • When the next consoles come out with 32Gb's of ram i think 64Gb's will be a thing for PC gamers

  • Missed this one and looking for some ram now. Picked up a 2nd hand x670e and will likely get a 7700. Any reccomendations? I think 2x16gb will be enough
