  • FYI because not mentioned, it's only an extra 34 cents for if you've used or saving code, or don't have Everyday Extra.

Really silly that RRP for these is now $9. Who's going to pay that, when 10 years ago they were commonly on sale for $2 a piece?

    • +4

I agree, they are just taking the pi$$ with regular prices now. We have a fresh and save and it's regularly $4 everyday, no special. Supermarket enquiry process did nothing, I don't expect anything to change either, as they are publicly listed companies so it's all about perpetual growth in earnings for shareholders

There is an ongoing cocoa beans shortage that started last year.

      • +12

Price won’t go down when cocoa supply rises.

        • +4

That doesn't explain the price rise for Cadbury chocolates; there's no way they are still using real cocoa… /s

Do you give back your wage increases after the inflation subsides?

          • +7

@Wolfenstein98k: What is this wage increase you speak of?

            • @KSMLJ: The average Aussie got several over the covid period. Most EBAs have them built in. Etc

              • +1

@Wolfenstein98k: Buying power of your wage has gone backwards for two years running thanks to inflation and mortgage payments. Hopefully we are thru the worst of it, but that is what has happened.

                • @entropysbane: Have you checked that the brand's raising prices haven't gone backwards in real terms too? Higher insurance, rents, input costs, you name it…

          • @Wolfenstein98k: You effectively do by having a reduced increases for the next x years.

      • So if that's the case how does my local non Coles Woolies still sell it for $4 /100g, not to mention the regular price more than doubling at the chain store

    • +1

Used to be chocolate was one of the cheapest things you could buy, per calorie.

  • +1

Might be ok as its cooler now but through summer these melted and tasted horrible after being in cheap delivery cars all day

  • +4

At $3 per 100g as a "special" price, it still isn't worth it even for Lindt.

    • The new “pistachio” is $20

      • Yes that BS Dubai thing.

    • +1

all chocolate is very expensive now

  • -1

    Now with added lead!

    • Plus cadmium!

    • +1

That might explain the higher price, its now got a lot more lead in it….

  • +2

They have these for $9 a piece at my Coles. Wtf is happening!

And today they dropped it to less than half price. 100% Coles is still making a big profit margin on them even at this price.

People need to wake up, everything shouldnt be this expensive but it is and we are a bunch of sheep that just go along with it.

    1 Jul 22 to 1 Apr 25:
    * CPI up 11.6%
    * London Cocoa futures up 266%
    * AUD to GBP purchase power down 16%
    * Lindor Milk Chocolate Block has 32% Cocoa solids
Simplistic back-of-envelope calculation suggests price doubled (2.1 x) since Jul 22.

  • I'm happy buying Whittaker's around ~$6 per 250g block.

  • $3.40 at Woolies

    • +2

Is that on clearance at your local store? It's full price at $8.50 on the Woolworths website for the blocks listed here.

Since when did we start listing prices using the monthly EDR (Everyday Extra) codes?
If that's the case, we could list a thousand different items that would be reduced by at least 10%. 🤷

    • -1

Have you only noticed it now? It has been for a while since last year in several posts by different OPs. This would be the last month to use the code at Big W anyway.
