just adding in my feedback, the yoto has been amazing for my kids.

the cards look expensive, but you can buy some make your own cards, and then download content from borrowbox or similar (ive even used a youtube audio downloader).
even still, if you dont want to spend on MYO cards, you can just play the content from your phone (once youve uploaded that content to your yoto profile).

      does the library provide them?

My wife bangs on about these to no end, haven't bought one yet. Don't like the buy in eco system

eh I'm not a big fan of the buy-in ecosystem, but the MYO cards are alright (it is good functionality although the whole process and downloading to the device is a bit of a pain) and kids really do love it, I'd buy it again

      • the borrowbox membership is via my library. i understand different library networks have different content available in borrowbox.

i dont know any libraries that loan out the physical cards, but its possible.

      Same

Haven't bought any official cards, only MYO and using my own sourced content

I bought one for my nephew but he never uses it… probably more to do with the parenting style than the product, though.

It's the hip new thing parents give to their kids to keep them off the Facebook. It's like a boombox or Discman but it uses a card instead of a tape or CD.

  • Can you also put individual songs on each card?

    • Yes but you would want to do full play lists

      • Just asking as our little one is currently obsessed with a rotation of 5 songs but hasn't quite grasped how to vocally command our google home to play anything yet. I'm imagining with this will she be able to insert the card of the song she feel like dancing to instead of badgering us to find and play it through google home every time.

        • You can, or you can put the 5 songs on one card. Skipping through them is as easy as pushing one of the 3 buttons on the device.

    • you can. ultimately the card stores nothing. it just identifies a playlist that yoto has stored (which may be a book you bought or other content youve uploaded) and it downloads it to the player (the first time its played).

      • uploaded

So you can manually upload music downloaded from elsewhere, it doesn't have to be strictly from within Yoto's catalogue?

        • exactly. mp3 is fine, thats how i download from borrowbox.

you can even record yourself reading a book so your child can listen to your voice each time if youd like.

you create a playlist on the yoto site under your profile and upload any set of mp3s (maybe other formats too) you want to add to that list.
you can also setup the icons to show when it plays.

if you have the yoto app on your phone, you can pair the playlist to an myo card with nfc which is very easy.

the firstime that playlist plays, it downloads to the player.

  • Does anyone know if the Yoto membership discount can be stacked with a referral code?

    Has anyone had success recently?

    • there is a yoto AU facebook group that went through a lot of this stuff for black friday i recall. im not sure what the outcome was.

  • Is there anyone that's uploaded all the card files to Google drive. Those cards seem expensive. Hacked yoto would be good

    • You can find them on the high seas
