Recently picked up the UCG ultra from amazon and was looking for an AP to round out my new network set up. Found this on device deal. it's not the cheapest it has been, but it's a decent deal none the less. Amazon has it currently for $325. It states that it does not include the POE injector, but they also have those for around $20.

I was tossing up between this and a LR version but in the end will give this a crack. if need be, can grab another later on and expand.
They do have free click and collect from Vermont VIC, otherwise standard shipping is $10.

Enjoy

  • U7 Pro can be had for $281 in recent cashback deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/904981

May be worth holding out for EOFY deals unless you need to get your hands on the Unifi AP right now

    • U7 Pro has some issues/limitations:
      1. while it has 6Ghz support it is worse in wifi 6 (5Ghz) than U6 Pro. It has 2x2 Mimo on 5Ghz compared to 4x4 on U6 Pro. Someone can argue it should be called u7 lite. U7 Pro Max has 4x4 MIMO for 5Ghz
      2. It has a cooling fan. While im not against the active cooling there are concerns on how easy (if even possible) is to replace it.
      3. It had a lot of issues with 2.4Ghz iot and legacy devices. Most should be fixed by now though.

Overall, unless you have client devices that can utilize 6GHz and no iot (or willing to bet it all fixed by now) U6 Pro looks a better choice.

  • Paid this much roughly for U7 Pro, would hold out imo

    • How is the U7 Pro treating you? I’m tossing up between another U6+ or trying the Pro

Had no real issue. Don't make the mistake I did and put it in the corner of a room, as the wifi speeds are trash outside of that room. They drop speed so youll need a couple if you want high speeds everywhere. In my loungeroom where I have one, I get about 900mbps which is nice. Keep in mind you need a wifi7 capable device and some aren't unless they're brand new essentially (ie my 2 year old laptop)
