[Refurb] Breville The Oracle Espresso Machine BES980BSS Stainless Steel $1274.15 ($1199.20 eBay Plus) Delivered @ Breville eBay

430
FYMY15FYMY20

Original Coupon Deal

First time poster here, was checking out the eBay refurbished offers page as they currently have 15% off for non eBay Plus members and 20% off for those signed up to eBay Plus.

Came across this deal and thought it was worth posting, I bought my Oracle in 2023 for $1400 (a damaged box version with 3 months warranty) from a FB Marketplace ad. This seems like a much better deal given it's coming direct from Breville with 1 year of warranty.

There is also other refurbished variants available currently on the Breville Australia eBay store, which I have included below (there is a $300 cap on the coupon):

There is a few other variants up on their refurbished page here - https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_dkr=1&iconV2Request=true…

Happy brewing to all fellow OzB coffee drinkers out there :)

My Barista Pro arrives today and I scored it a couple of days ago for $599 via their eBay store. Quite excited!

That's a steal! Lot of machine for the money, you will love it :)

    • If brand new, then that's a really good price. I picked mine up a few months ago for 720. Love the machine but the use of a small scale would help with measuring your shots and coffee.

      Enjoy.

      • Did you buy off the refurb store, or brand new?

        • Brand new fam. Breville had a 15 or 20% off at the time.

    • That’s not bad! The dual boilers or oracle is a good jump up off you want an upgrade later

      • I was heavily debating the BBP versus a BDB with a Baratza ESP or DF54.. For $599, I think getting the Pro is a great option with a solid upgrade path if I stick to it!

        • Yea we have had the same express for 5 years now and would love a dual boiler, really dislike waiting for the single boiler when making many coffees. Also the smaller head means one coffee at a time.

    • Best bang for the buck imo.

I bought the touch impress to make things easier, works beautifully. Similar price to what was posted here.

Took a while to find coffee beans that I liked, but I think because the machine was fairly new (even though it was marked refurbished), the burrs in the grinder weren't seasoned yet.

Not sure if it's a myth or true, but after about a month, I was getting much better shots and better tasting coffee.

      • Sounds valid because everything in coffee is back magic really. Knocked the sharp edges off the grinder wheels to get a combination of pressure and cutting? Dunno.
I know what works for me

Just an update - I have unboxed the unit and well, I am a little disappointed. There are quite a few aesthetic blemishes which certainly do not affect functionality but doesn't really align with what I was believe to be sold from Breville.

I have reached out to them to understand what my options are, but as the Barista Pro is now out of stock in-store, I don't have my hopes high.. Wish me luck and I'll keep anyone posted that is interested.

  • I am getting $1799 for the Oracle Touch. How did you get $1679?

    • The code is capped at $300. So, $1799 is the correct price after the code.

    • Oops wasn't aware there was a cap. I've updated the price of the Touch to reflect this

    ew refurb…

    • Generally just damaged box or opened box.

    • +1

Surely no one is licking the machine or the grinder

The original version is good, just slow start up as boiler has to heat up.

Heard many bad story for the touch version, especially the auto temping breaks within 6 to 12 months. There is one on the boat my company charter for Christmas Party. The crew said they swap it once but happen again and they can't be border.

    I wouldn't touch the Oracle Touch…

  • Am I regretting my Dual Boiler frim JB for around $1089.00..Life has been real busy so it's still sealed in the box. Urghhh. Also bought a Breville Grinder Pro. So this would've been cheaper. 😓 this is a refurb but even still.

      Separate grinder is always better….

      • Agree, but an unused coffee machine is a waste of money, they should've bought something easier to use.

        • Absolutely setting it up.in the coming days. Just needed the time to do an extreme clean in the kitchen, feel the machines worth it. This weekend will be the right time. Still buying daily takeaway coffees so this plenty of motivation to move faster. One of those $600-$700 Breville machines broke down maybe 18 months ago. We got many many years out of it so felt this upgrade was somewhat deserved.

@TEER3X The Breville Dual Boiler isn’t difficult to setup correctly and use though, it’s a pretty simple and quick machine to use. Whenever I see someone say that they went for the Bambino Plus over the BDB because the BDB is too technical I think the person can’t be serious.

I have owned half a dozen coffee/espresso machines over the last 25 years, I currently own a BDB, a smart grinder pro and a DF64 gen 2 grinder, this combo is definitely not difficult to use, and it can’t really get much easier and the coffee any nicer out of a home machine for the price range. I’d much rather own a BDB and separate grinder like the DF64 gen 2 than the Oracle with an internal inferior grinder.

        • They have, its call Bambino Plus…..

Had mine for the third year now, still going strong.

Many use had Smart Grinder Pro and Bambino Plus rank it the best entry to mid core setup, the only thing not done for you is distribution and temping which Oracle does. Its not that hard to learn.

          • @syswong: Not really. They only thing the Bambino Plus has going for it over the BDB is it’s milk frothing process is a little faster. Spending an extra minute on frothing milk doesn’t make the BDB too technical and a complicated machine to use though. Other than that the Bambino Plus is a tiny machine that is essentially close to an entry level machine, and definitely doesn’t make coffee as good as the Breville Dual Boiler. I personally wouldn’t choose a Bambino Plus over the dual boiler. Here’s a recent review that directly compares the Bambino Plus, BDB, and new model Oracle Jet:

    • If its still sealed and in warranty ill take it xD at the right price

I'm getting $879.20 for the Dual Boiler.

    Stacking BREVCOFFEE22MAY and FYMY20

    • OMG. So that's a refurb, right?!

    • Doesnt work

    • Oh nice find! It seems the Dual Boiler is the only one eligible for that code.

    • Where you get this code from doesnt work even with ebay plus

      • It just came up on the listing when I opened it. Then I added it to cart and it automatically applied it, then I added FYMY20 and it stacked them.

    • Not working anymore.

Thanks OP, this is the one the wife wanted and this is several hundred cheaper than the cheapest sale price for a non-refurb - bought the Oracle. Also heard bad things about the Touch version so staying away from that.

I would've preferred a full auto but the wife is the coffee snob so her call… Also, happy wife, happy life!

Glad I could help, enjoy the machine!

      Oracle is great, congrats!

      • Thank guys :) looking forward to it. Now to find good beans. Any recommendations?

        • I can't really vouch for any online places that do bean subscriptions as I've never tried those (if anyone knows of good online beans please do share).

But to start off, I'd try hitting up your local coffee shops that do good coffee and see what beans they use, you may find that it's easier to just pick up a bag when you need a refill and sometimes they're pretty decently priced.

          • @lukey351: Thanks mate. I started doing some research to see what is recommended. I know the wife likes St Ali so that's another one.

  • Hi everyone. Any idea which is better Oracle Touch or The Barista Touch impress? Need ease of use as quite a novice. Thanks.

    • +2

I’d go normal Oracle. The touch versions just give instructions and save a few button presses, but also have more to go wrong

      • +1

Can second this, have heard numerous complaints about the Touch model having a quite laggy interface. I may be biased, but there's just something about clicking a physical button to begin brewing your coffee that's quite satisfying :)

  • Would this still entile you to the promotion https://www.breville.com/en-au/program/fast-track-barista-pa…

  • Probs cheaper to become an racv member and get additional 20% off and buy it new

  • Question: is there any better brand than breville at the sub 2500 pricepoint? Saeco was what I had aeons ago but now it's Philips. Delongi better? I'm a pure expresso / black person.

  • Getting item is out of stock now

  • Did anyone get their Oracle delivered yet? what manufacture year did you get?

  • +1

Just received mine. Everything looks new apart from the steam wand.

Got the breville express touch.. looks like a brand new machine.
