Be careful with this one or you may end up with 2 cases of undrinkable Australian-brewed Asahi.
Guaranteed to be Aus made by now, surely.
In Japan atm, the Asahi poured from the machine in a lotta places is a bloody revelation, like drinking milk, compared to Aus brewed junk
Couldn't agree more. I was tokyo last year and their lagers are divine.
If you want a Japanese beer here get Monsuta, it's just repackaged Orion.
Not sure why you got negged. I'm a fan of Okinawan lager and I think they'll probably drop Monsuta in favor or just selling it as Orion here.
Not the one brewed in Japan. HARD PASS!
There's also a China brewed asahi
Thought I was buying beer, not shares in Rio Tinto.
Ausahi.
If you remove the exaggeration and bandwagon type comments about how bad this beer is (maybe in comparison to the Japanese brewed ones), is this local version just "ok", or is it really that bad as everyone says?
It was fine - not particularly memorable but certainly not horrendous. Can't tell if it's my personal preference but it seemed closest to a Hahn Super Dry from what I recall, and I have my doubts that the Japanese brewed version would be worth the hype (although I've not tried that variant myself).
Have drunk (Asahi owned) CUB version along side the imported. Was given the local version free, so the price was right. Was hoping for a good experience.
Local version is similar to other CUB beers. Pretty bland - especially compared to Japan brewed.
Have drunk Asahi Super Dry over many trips to Japan.Ah, someone is negging these comments based on our actual experience🤪
Nah, it's a decent beer choice.
Totally enjoyed 5 cases of great 500ml Japan brewed @$70ea delivered last year.
Can't bring myself to drink this bland Aussie swill.I bought quite few of the 500ml Made in Japan cases via ebay direct from CUB.
The made in Aus is such a different taste. Asahi has gone from my go to fridge beer to something I no longer drink.
Made in Australia -> Headache.
Ignore the confusing claim that it's "Japan's #1 beer" on cartons of LOCAL BREWED!!
Asahi owned CUB no longer imports it.Some small specialist retailers may import from Japan.
Check where it is produced (usually on bottom of carton).
Do. Not. Buy.
Simple.
(profanity) every single international brand that decided it's cheaper/easier/'smarter' to brew in Australia; then charge the same price (or more), and produce noticeably worse beer.
It might be 'okay' or 'acceptable' for some, but if you know, you bloody know taste-wise. Don't settle for (much) less.
Heineken, Asahi, Budweiser, Stella, Becks, Corona… the list goes on.
decided it's cheaper/easier/'smarter' to brew in Australia
Not surprising…
Multinational brewer Asahi spent a fortune buying Melbourne based brewery CUB, so produces in it's brewery here. Not just a licensed product like most overseas beers.Used extensive advertising campaign to introduce us to Japan's #1 beer! Even though it's brewed here… Deceptive to many who believe it's imported!
They imported & sold it here until last year. Bought many cartons.
Now brewery here is able to meet local demand.
It's just another CUB beer.Taste is different in different countries that brew it. Using differently sourced ingredients.
But I won't drink this, after years of enjoying Japan brewed!
WHO'S THE CUCK
Are you OK mate?
What lager’s can I get that are still produced in their own country?
smh…corona is brewed in china now
The Japanese one used to be IMO the best, the Australian one isn’t terrible but I would never buy it as for the price there would be 20 better choices out there.
I find my similar alternative is Monsuta Okinawa Dry in the 500ml just in case anyone is looking for a replacement.Seems like Guinness is now brewed in Australia and it looks like the price hasn’t got cheaper and the quality has declined too.
Can you tell I'm drunk on Aussie-made "imported" beer? lol
$66.50 per case is a bargain now ? I dont think I can afford to drink anymore.
They are 500ml so price per litre is better than a normal case.
At this price, just get yebisu black. Also pricey but actually drinkable
Having dumped Asahi due to local production, Yebisu is now my preferred Japanese beer. Not a fan of the Monsuta.
Monsuta is just Japanese fosters
Not drinkable, my local BWS finally switched to the Australian brewed and it is shiet
Not as good as the Japan brewed, but still perfectly drinkable.
The great OzB pile-on in full flight.
You'll find you're in the minority here with this opinion.
That's OK - I have broad shoulders, and a mature palate. 😁
you really gotta check where it's actually brewed first and foremost
