Have got the Gen 2, great unit. If I needed another I wouldn't hesitate at this price.

    So tempted for hiking…

  • Looks good, but for $69….. I’m not sure

It's cheap compared to Aliexpress pricing. And at 150g, it's 60g lighter than my INIU power banks. But after collecting a bunch of INIUs at $12.75 each with Amazon promos, it still seems overpriced for what you get.

You nailed it with the 60g lighter part. These are marketed to trail runners and hikers who buy these to save weight out on the trail where weight is a primary concern. You can definitely get cheaper power banks. But in terms of battery capacity per gram of weight, Nitecore NB series are right up at the top

Seems this doesn’t have the same issue as the gen 2 where if you press and hold the power button it locks you out until you plug into a wall charger

    It's a slow 18W charger and it's only 10Ah and they want $69?

For about the same price you can get a 100W, 27Ah powerbank: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/904769

    Or a similar weight one, that's faster at 30W, 10Ah for $30: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/903971

I get that it's light, but it should still be half of this 'bargain' price.

These aren't for people on the train and at work watching tiktoks for 12 hours straight.

They're for hiking, they need to be light and tough.

      • -5

And really slow apparently. In 2025, nobody should be paying $69 for a charger that slow.

If you are an ultralight hiker you would appreciate the weight and how tough these are. None of the ones you suggested would be able to withstand the spills I've had on the trail. I've literally fallen on these with my full body weight plus my 20kg pack against wet rock and it survived.

Otherwise yes you are right, but these are built for purpose to take a massive bashing. Priority is not how quick my gadgets take to charge while I am hiking and it's for mostly emergencies or to charge up while I sleep.

That's what the person was conveying to you. These devices are well reviewed and recommended within r/ultralight. Off the trail I have a seperate fast power bank for daily use.

    • Is the inui 30w currently on sale for $30?

  • I thought it was a stop smoking aid looking at the brand.

This looks great for use in my ever-present backpack (I'm a non-hiker) - thanks OP!

17g lighter than the VEEKTOMX, and four times the price !

has metal case, oled display, usb-C and A, same 12v/22.5W out, 167g. Lives in my backpack.

    • That's pretty impressive, nitecore have been consistently improving their cold resistance and longevity.

I'd be interested to see long term use compared of both.

I will note my first gen 5000mah nitecore died earlier this season and it only endured a -2 or -3c night.

Unfortunately I believe some moisture got inside and did it in.

These newest gen 3 and the summit series have might tighter cases and waterproof ratings so hopefully better.

  • Does anyone know a discount code that can be applied ? Thanks
