  • can i add these to a HIK NVR?

    • Yes, they support ONVIF and RSTP so it should work. Not sure how your NVR might deal with the dual camera arrangement though.

      • +1

Wasn’t sure if it supported ONVIF, other ptz from Reolink spec shows ONVIF, but this particular model doesn’t state it. I’d get one if that’s true though.

  • Do you have the one with solar panel?

    • +3

This one is probably Reolink's closest camera to the same features and functions, but with WiFi and solar: https://reolink.com/au/product/altas-pt-ultra/

      • +3

that looks good, so now OP, do you have any deals on this? :D

        • It's one of their newest models, only very recently released in Australia so I doubt they're handing out too many discounts yet.

          • @klaw81: There have been plenty of discounts on it so far.

      • any real life experience with the battery life? USA online forums suggest little poor and requiring regular charging (due to the pre recording)

        • +1

I have pre recording turned off. It goes a long way to saving battery.

But even when turned on it would last through the night and then be fully charged via solar the next day

  • +3

I have one of these and love it. Much better than the single-lens ones in most cases.

I don't use the motion track, but the PTZ capability is awesome. I replaced a few fixed cameras with PTZs and its become handy at home.

    • +1

I replaced a few fixed cameras with PTZs and its become handy at home.

If you enable auto tracking on PTZ cameras, in order to maintain full coverage you still need to have fixed cameras, something similar to the Duo or any 180º cameras.

  • What's the go with reolink 4k and frigate? Anyone attempted this with success?

    • -5

      No clue, just use Scrypted.
There’s a cost, but it’s much nicer! And the developer is very active

      • +6

        No clue

        So why did you answer?

        • +3

Well, I have screwed around with frigate, and many different cameras brands, free is great and all, but depends on how much your time is worth.
So sure neg away, it’s not like I just said no without providing an alternative solution that works for me
Forgot how much the internet loves to blindly hate.
Costs you nothing to ignore a comment, but may save you a tonne of time if frigate doesn’t work and you need an alternative.
So this is why I answered, does this give you the closure you need for my comment?

          • +1

            @Zimbyzim:

but may save you a tonne of time if frigate doesn’t work

But Frigate does work, however if I upgrade my cameras I'd like to know if anyone else has used them already.

Costs you nothing to ignore a comment

Costs you nothing to ignore a question rather than spam a different product in response.

    • I have 2 Reolink cameras and a doorbell running on frigate on an rpi. Works very well, but as with all frigate installations it took a bit of tweaking to get it detecting things very well.

Did you have any specific questions about the setup?

      • Are your cameras 4k? I remember reading a couple of years back that frigate had issues with h265 streams that the reolink 4k cameras did. Unsure if it's fixed.
I use the reolink 520A cameras with my FrigateNVR and have had no issues

        • Ah, yes, I forgot about the h265 issue. Mine are 4k but are running h264. I remember trying to set it up and it didn't immediately work, so I gave up.

Wonder if anything has changed since then

    You save: 20%off +10%coupon

This gets discounted every other week to $187.99 or $194.99 so don't impulse buy thinking you're saving tons.

    • 100%. I generally get most of my Reolink stuff on Amazon unless Reolink directly is cheaper.

      • +5

You should also add Ali express to this.
Ships from same location and often the deals are better, have ordered a few this way, even got a cheap 5mp for 20 bucks one time

        • +3

          Yep. This guy knows.

The Trackmix are a great can - bought my last couple from Ali for $AU$140 a piece and that wasn’t even during one of their bigger sales where they ramp up vouchers and coin-based discounts.

Have got some 510A & 520A’s from $15, Duo 3’s from $70 and CX810’s from $80. Definitely the cheapest place to buy them if you’re not in a hurry and can wait for their better sales and promos.

          • +3

@UncleRico: lol literally learnt about Ali from your posts.
Bit of a Riolink legend around these parts :)

            • +3

@Zimbyzim: Ha! Far from it. Just a simple hobbyist who is a slave to the discount dopamine…

Regardless, thanks for the kind words. Appreciated.

            • +2

              @Zimbyzim: Likewise. Thanks @UncleRico.

              • +1

@DoctorCalculon: Shucks - many thanks. Genuinely chuffed to hear that there are folk out there who get value out of my dubious insights into value CCTV systems…

          • @UncleRico: Do you have any tips on finding the cx810's? I've looked multiple times and I can't even see them on AliExpress at all.

I have found Mydeal also has good Reolink deals as well as the website "Reolinks"

            • +2

@Phamon: For reasons which are beyond me, Reolink seldom use model numbers on their AliExpress listings, hence why you're unlikely to get a hit for "CX810".

Instead, do a search for "ColorX" and you'll usually get a hit for a listing or two, often combining the two main ColorX models, the 4mp CX410 (with better night vision) or 8mp CX810 (with better resolution). Opinions vary, but despite the modest 10-20% price premium for the 8mp, some users - especially those with very little ambient light - suggest the 4mp version is the better buy due to it's superior performance in ultra-lowlight scenarios.

For biggest savings, conduct the search from the AliExpress Coins page (sorry - can't link directly) and use "Buy It Now" option in conjunction with AliExpress coupon code (usually listed on their home page or on deals here by @Clear and other users) and a Reolink coupon code (which you can find by clicking on their Reolink Official Store link in any of their product listings) where available.

              • @UncleRico: Thank you so much that is incredibly useful. It makes sense that they do that with their naming system because I'll often not be able to find their cameras at places I know sell them.

  • +2

Love my TrackMix cameras, hopefully they release a ColorX version soon

  • +3

I've got the wifi version of this. I don't regret buying it at all. The night vision (both IR & colour versions) are really clear. Motion sensing and tracking works well, with options to alter sensitivity individually for people, vehicles, animals or all motion.
And you can zoom in really far and still have really clear video. It's easy to set up with Home Assistant, frigate and/or backing it up to NAS drives. No cloud subscription required, though there is an option to pay for one.
Before buying, check Aliexpress as Reolink's store there often has better prices with vouchers than their offical website. It's still shipped from their Australian warehouse/store too.

  • Does this work with the reolink NVR RLN8-410? How does one control the tracking movement?

    • Same question

      • +2

Yes, works fine with the RLN8-410.

There’s a ton of config options, but the default way I (and I think the way the vast majority use it) is that the wider angle shot is static and the auto pan/tilt/zoom function tracks any moving object within that field. You may be able to set it up to manually control the tracking if you’ve got a control room setup, but I don’t know anyone who does that in real life and if that’s the case there’s probably cheaper pan and zoom cams you could manually use. There’s also the single lens 830A which has auto tracking if required, but forgoes the second wide angle input - it’s featured in recent deals from AU$110. The Trackmix excels at the auto tracking option, whilst still preserving the wider shot so you don’t miss any action whilst a squirrel scurries across your lawn…

    • Just be careful on the hardware version of the RLN8-410 you have - won’t work with early hardware versions of that due to a firmware incompatibility (reolink support helped roll the Trackmix to an earlier firmware which “worked” but last 95% of features like tracking etc). Later models are fine.

      • Which version do you have? Mine is N3MB01, not sure if this is early or late version?

        • Yeah I’ve got that hardware version for my NVR, running firmware 3.4.0.293_24010837

    • +1

How does one control the tracking movement?

You can control the PTZ movement manually in the smartphone apps, or in the desktop app. I suspect there are also controls in the web interface but I can't confirm that.

In general the movement is automatic to track designated targets using the onboard AI.

  • any deal for reolink cx810

    • +2

Not currently, but keep an eye on it in Ali Express. With the right combo of sale pricing and discount codes, you should be able to regularly land it under $US55 or AU$85.

  • Can this do 4k or lower to save on storage space. Also assuming this doesn't act like a spot light at night time?

    • +1

Can this do 4k or lower to save on storage space

No, cannot change the resolution. I checked mine.

Also assuming this doesn't act like a spot light at night time?

You can turn it off completely so it doesn't trigger or only when there is motion. You can also manually turn it on via the app. I have it on some of my cameras and its handy.

  • Anything similar to this but a bit more discreet?

Ptz is great but, dual is a must, but would want a dome or something so the derros and gronks dont throw shit because "its tracking them"

    • I haven't seen anything from Reolink. I've had no issues with my PTZs. I have four around my house/property. A few are high on poles, but I haven't had any of the neighbours complain. I do not have Auto Track on, though. Two of mine could easily be seen in the neighbour's backyard.

  • How is the motion sensor and captures in night as compared to Eufy?

    • The Motion Sensor is pretty sensitive, from what I have experienced. I've had to adjust the size of objects to stop tracking things like birds. Here is a night vision example

Cannot comment on how it compares to Eufy as I've never had Eufy cameras.

  • need a code discount for the wifi model or battery model

  • Does this work over wifi or have to plug ethernet?

    • +1

This is the POE version, so you’ll need to have a POE Switch or NVR to supply power and data over CAT5/6.

There is also a wifi version which uses a standard power feed, alongside wifi for connectivity.

      • Ahh so I have to connect via ethernet via the NVR, if I'm just after a simple plug in security camera, over wifi what would you recommend that's not crazy expensive? This is for outside the house and inside as well.

        • +1

If you want a powered solution (which are preferable because they record constantly rather than just after detecting motion and awakening after 2-5 seconds) you need to ensure it has somewhere to connect and record to, like an NVR or a NAS, as well as a wifi network they can connect to.

in which case, search AliExpress for Reolink + wifi and you’ll get a range of options from $100-$300. The Trackmix wifi is a great starting point at around the $200 mark, since it has auto pan tilt and zoom for motion tracking over a 350 degree field of view, plus a second static lens to maintain wide area surveillance.

If you don’t want to power it, the wifi Reolink Argus range with solar panel requires no power cabling and can be had under $100 on special. The Argus 3 Pro is probably the bang for buck champ, and would serve you well until you tire of missing action due to the wake-up lag.

  • Does this dual camera use 1 or 2 nvr channels?
