How Much Are You Paying for Offpeak/Controlled Load?

On another forum topic yesterday, a commenter said he was paying his electricity Reseller 8c/Kwh to Plug in his EV overnight midnight to 6am.
In Melbourne, I can't get lower than 20.5C/Kwh at Offpeak/Controlled Load to heat my bloody house.

Has the world gone mad?

They were probably signed up with the 8c EV Plan with OVO: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/833072

I went for the three hours free electricity from 11AM to 2PM every day plan.

Cheaper daily supplier charge and kwh usage charge than AGL (their parent company) so was win-win all round. Also $120 off with OzB referral.

Can confirm. I am on 8c/kWh overnight from 12am till 6am every night… AND, just to drive the boot in, I get "free" electricity from 11am until 2pm every day as well.

      That saves cents. Cheers.

    • More power to you.

    • I presume you’re with ovo?
I had a look at them, but they seem to charge demand pricing as well, not single rate, not to mention their control load two prices double what I pay with AGL.

      • Yes, Ovo.

Demand pricing, you mean like peak, shoulder and off peak, then yes. If you meant where prices change on demand (ie: if no one is using power they pay me to use it, if everyone is using power, it goes up to $14/kWh), then no. I couldn’t find a supplier in my area that would do “flat/single rate” and I like operating on peak and off peak cycles.

As for “controlled load” I don’t have it, so I don’t know.

No, it's just waiting for coal lovers and deniers to walk the talk, and heat their caves with coal. There's plenty out there.

      • Someone could not have responded to my post more accurate than this.

        Excellent post.

  • I heat my house using nuclear fusion. It's free and rather effective, although it can be a little unreliable.

Heat your house? Why not just put a hoodie on?
