Jarrow Formulas 600g Creatine Monohydrate for Only $11.83 + $6.99 Shipping (20% off)

40

Vitacost are currently having a sale for 20% off selected Jarrow Formulas supplements. There are some great bargains to be had with the full list available here.

I personally use their creatine monohydrate as it is one of the most highly rated on the site. It mixes really well and doesn't taste too foul (a bit like chalk). With this bargain it is now also one of the cheapest options!

There is no coupon code required for this deal which means you can stack it with the $10 bonus for new customers who join using a referral code. Just need to spend a minimum of $30 on your first order. My referral code is below and I get $10 too if you use it.

Shipping is a flat $6.99 for up to 3.4 pounds so I suggest buying a couple of items to take advantage of the low rate.

  • "Tastes like chalk" probably doesn't sound great but mix it with a little juice and it tastes fine. Comes with a bonus scoop too. :)

  • Always be careful with this stuff. Had a friend with liver issues after taking creatine for a while.

      Creatine.. Serious business

    • Naturally occurs in our body, I'm sure your friend never drank alcohol whilst getting these kidney issues

      • Its not the product itself- more when people who are overly keen on getting results start dosing at very high levels. More likely adolescent males - which this product is targeted towards.

Cheers, bought some Jarrow Creatine Monohydrate and some whey powder for only $28 with shipping.

    Used you ref link too.

    • If you're used to buying those things locally in Australia you will soon become addicted to Vitacost like I have.

  • Been using bodybuilding / supps for 19 yrs, Creatine Monohydrate is the cheapest and worst creating there is.

    1. you need to load
    2. its slow acting
    3. like comment above re liver issues its very hard on internal organs moreso on the kidneys
    4. Its bloats in the stomach, ie: water retention

Better options are - Kre Alkalyn, Creatine Nitrate.

    • -1

      yeh i realised that too

Im now using Magnesium Creatine Chelate for 3 months.
Slightly more expensive but worth the money

    • -1

They have creatine nitrate too but it's 8x more expensive. Not bad if you used a referral code to get it down to $22.29 + shipping but not fantastic either.

      • -1

same as Magnesium Creatine Chelate , its probably more expensive than that. But when you see results, you know your getting your monies worth.

    • How is bloating your stomach the same as water retention?

      • -1

Well I didnt want to get too technical, basically what I meant is in the stomach is where Creatine is converted to the active metabolite CreatinINE. In this conversion process monohydrate can give the feeling of bloated / upset stomach feeling. Yes water retention is a separate side effect but helps to protect the muscle.

My basic premise is that Creatine Monohydrate is cheap and inferior to other alternatives. However if you do want to go down the creatine monohydrate path I would recommend taking it with orange juice to
give a temporary insulin spike and increase creatine obsorbtion.

Also to much Creatinine is what causes kidney stress and can lead to hepatoxicity. Ideal range is 60 - 110 UMOL / Litre (determined with a blood test).

    • +1

Ironically those are actually the worst options to pick in terms of creatine.
      Your funny.

      • You mean Kre Alkalyn?? etc..Seriously?

Kre alkalyn is the only supplement I have given my clients with 100% of them getting results and re ordering. So far not one disappointed client.

It makes you stronger, it helps recovery, and results are noticed in the first 10 days.

  • when i registar on the refferal link how long till they email me a code ?

    • Just a few minutes usually.

My god, the amount of inaccurate and incorrect information being passed around here about creatine….. Seriously people go and read up on it from trusted sources (not from adverts or people who get their info from adverts)… Creatine Monohydrate is the ONLY creatine to have been proven to work and it is the cheapest and best form of creatine CURRENTLY available. All this other junk is just added bonds of other materials or salts etc, given a fancy name and then hyped up to kingdom come. There is no proof they work nearly as well and definitely no proof that they work better. You pay more and you actually get less creatine as part of it is added extras….

Anyway i am not going to get into the details here, but please go and do your own research.

    • you should do your research professor
I researched Magnesium Creatine Chelate before i started it and im getting much better results than when i was using normal creatine. And i no longer get muscle cramps due to the Mg+ component.

Get better results, less water retention (nothing documented about this), more strength (jumped from 35kg dumbell press to 50 kg dumbell press in 5 weeks , and thats with no spot)…

      • +1

Dont worry i have done my research, have been doing it for more than 15 years. HAHAHAHAH you went from 35kg to 50kg and its all due to Magnesium Creatine Chelate… wow, if only everyone else knew about it. Imagine all the world records that could be broken from just taking 1 legal supplement. No-one needs to take any of the illegal kind anymore…

Can you show me links / articles to the "research" that you did?

        • dude do your own research , ill give you a head start, look up Brilla and MCC in a medical database.

But i can understand the older generation like you are resistant to change and think old school is the way to go.

Just to let you know that i have never seen a conclusive research that creatine mono is beneficial, its all trail and error , works better on people more than others

        • +1

HAHA, oder generation resistant to change… love it. Old school? Old school is creatine monohydrate? Actually old school is no supplements and actual meat and vegies. Old school is "Milk is for Babies".

Hilarious, you gotta go watch idiocracy, you will fit right in. There is plenty of conclusive research on creatine mono and it is the only one that has any that are NOT sponsored by supplement brands. It is not trial and error, its simple mathematics.

Lets make it simple rather than too much detail…The reason why it works better on some people than others is because CREATINE is created in your body…WOW LO AND BEHOLD. EVERY single animal, every single living creature ACTUALLY create creatine in their own body…even humans. On average we use up about 2g of it each day for repair, ATP, recovery and day to day activities. BUT what was discovered is that during times of intense activity or stress your body can handle and use up more creatine if it is available. It can store it up and then use it when needed. Although it gets stored as a different product altogether but any way thats a long story.

Creatine is used to create certain other products that your body uses as fuel for rapid fire high intensity actions. The amount a person can store up does vary but more importantly what varies is HOW MUCH one person already has stored up. If you eat a lot more animal products especially red meat or fish you will have a lot more creatine in your body than would a vegetarian. PLUS your body uses 3 amino acids to create creatine as well… With both these mechanisms, some people may already be at a very high level of storage and hence creatine supplementation may not make much difference for them OR they are not doing enough high intensity activity and / or their bodies arent as good at using it up efficiently or accessing it i should say.

Then you take vegetarians (as most supplement companies will do Before they do their "Research / tests") and then wow you can actually make a bit of a difference with them again it depends on a lot of factors including genes and if they have been active before or not. Anwyay this is already getting too long and without going into too much detail so not as useful as information already available if you look around and be smart about it.

Just one thing, almost every single con you have mentioned is surprisingly …the same list of of problems that Supplement companies mention about creatine mono and insist that their new format is sooooo much superior. You are going to tell me that chelating a magnesium to a creatine bond will do this for you…hahah its called a Placebo.

Cramps occur for a no. of reasons…no.1 being that they are RANDOM…no.2 being that the particular muscle is weak and fatigued. No.3 being that you are dehydrated / require more water (here is where creatine can cause this as it does use up water BUT all creatine would use up water, you just have to be better hydrated). No.4 being that you dont have the right mix of electrolytes and minerals / deficient in some. ITs not about overloading on any one particular mineral but having the right mix / ratio. Minerals are easy and cheap, so easy to add to water instead of spending a fortune on powerade and gatorade which dont have much at all.

For the others out there, dont be a sheep and dont be conned by Bro-science. Use your brain, imagine Creatine is freely available in Australia which is one of the most string-est countries in the world when it comes to supplements and drugs. You are going to tell me there is a natural supplement out there that can increase someone who has already been supplementing with other products and has already been working out etc etc / been active and yet boosts their strength level by about 50% in 5 weeks….. Come on people, think about it. IF that was the case, no-one needs steroids and GH, you dont need synthetic drugs, you dont need illegal substances. Just go and buy a tub of creatine and voila…you can be bigger than Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler put together..

I mean after all if you use BSN products and Muscletech products you WILL BE the next Mr. Olympia..no doubt about it…Also i have this new Hydrolised Super Duper Whey Protein Isolate chelated with Mg, this will boost your muscle size and strength by 800% and only costs about 4x the price of standard WPI. I will even provide free shipping…………..

        • Lets make it simple rather than too much detail…

What follows is the longest comment ever published on Ozbargain!

+1 for not following broscience or Jay Cutler. However, it's hard for people to find credible research or information on these products. Even if you found a properly written scientific journal article it might not be completely trustworthy if the research was paid for by the supplement company who has a patent on the ingredient.

I find www.quackwatch.org is a good place to start research of any supplement as they look at proper peer reviewed research and naturally take a sceptical approach.

        • That doesn't mean that I think that magnesium/nitrate/other alkaline bonded to creatine will not work or will not have any advantage of creatine bonded with water. Just saying that I haven't seen a lot of conclusive/credible research which proves they do. I have seen the research for creatine mono and it works for me without harmful side-effects so I'm happy to stick with it.

        • +1

hahaha, you should see my emails… ;), my friends always state how long my emails are :).

        • yep sure mate , keep convincing yourself that

        • +1. So many people seem to overlook the power of the mind with all these supplements today.

      • 15kg in 5 weeks naturally? I would say you most likely started to eat the calories needed for your body to grow and got the mind set needed to lift more and more. Mind plays such a huge part in lifting that most supplements today are nothing but bullshit but people will swear they work.

First 2-3 weeks of my first test e cycle i saw the abnormally high strength gains before i had really anything in me. Amazing what a switch in the way you think can change your whole perspective on lifting heavy weights.

  • I love all these dick-measuring comps. Keep at it for the lols
