FOTILE Rangehood EMG9035 $1499.99 Delivered @ Costco (Membership Required)

160

Was looking for a replacement rangehood for my kitchen as we do lots of Asian cooking (oily, smoky etc), based on research people has been recommending brands such as robam, fotile, pacific.

This particular brand (Fotile) has been viewed as quite decent one also have checked with friends who already used them for a few years.

This particular unit sold on their website for $2099.99 ( link ) including delivery hence with costco deal it's a saving of $600 (not sure why costco wrote $300 savings)

Installation from Fotile will be around $500 which basically cover the exhaust to go through the roof.

I would say do your research and decide accordingly as I know there are other known brand which might perform better such as schweigen or Qasair but they do cost more.

got one at home, recommended for asian cooking I was told, the touchless on and off keeps the front glass clean most of the time. I diy installed, replacing an existing rangehood which already had a flute going out the side of the house. Pretty easy to clean.

    • Can you share the chimney width? It looks similar to the one I've which is a robam brand. The width is not standard like the other rangehood and it is quite wide, couldn't find any other brand as wide as Robam and going by the photo here, this one looks wider too. I ended up replacing it with another Robam as closing the extra with any other brand won't look near because of the cornice design we have.

I've had the 9050 for a few years- awesome bit of kit!!

  • These are not as good as the Schweigen. Had both, not only schwigen is much more powerful, but quieter too.
Dont be fooled by the marketing.

    • compared to which model of Schweigen?

      • Pick your like between the 3 motor choices. I have the ST, its already powerful enough for my asian cooking.

But they start at 3x the price of this…

      Edit: starting price…

      • No! Where did you get yours? Mine 900mm one with SP motor was $1600.

Can you please share the model or link please.

@Kuyaozb: For reference, I got my Schweigen UM9SP/ISODRIVE1600 for ~$1315 delivered from Appliances Online a few years back. Might have done a price match and stacked an Amex deal at the time as well

            • @escusemay: Thank you!

            • @escusemay: Thanks. I'm having a look on AO now, they seem to have a HUGE range of products. is "ISO DRIVE" the main thing to look for for one from the "good" range?

              • @xrailgun: I'm a bit rusty with it all but I think you buy the head part of the rangehood which suits your setup (eg. Undermount, wall mount, ceiling mount etc) and then pair it with the suction motor (ST or SP). SP is the motor with stronger suction

          • +1

@Kuyaozb: They won't, as it was probaby some insane eofy sale or some warehouse clearer (or they're talking out of their arse). ST can be gotten for $2,500 on special.

Do you have a link for comparable schweigen for $1500?

  • I'm looking at spending a good chunk on a decent rangehood with external motor for our forever home since the $100 bunnings job that it has at the moment is useless.

I assume this one is more comparable to a $1500 Boche than a $3-4k Schwigen / Qusair / Whispair with big external motor?

  • Go Schweigen, never looked back. You dont meed to even get the monster motor. An SP is plenty.

  • I am looking for a good rangehood. anyone tried Robam?

    • and how can I choose a rangehood? Which factor is important?

    • I have Robam (cxw-200-a8323),, pretty good from suction, cleaning, grease collection perspective but bit noisy. Changed from a SMEG that died in 3 years..

      • thanks Ckanna, where did you buy, and who did you ask for the installation?

    • I have a Robam.. happy with it. Had it for about 4 years

    • I have not, but a friend tried it. He told me the Robam unit can be a bit noisier, but it is also not bad for Asian cooking.

I called my local Robam as well to find out about their install cost (Vic). The cost was about the same: $500 (give or take).

Also I just found out that Robam in Victoria has a different website as oppose to their Sydney one which I found a bit weird.

      For reference
      Robam Victoria: https://ozrangehood.com.au
      Robam NSW :https://robam.com.au/

    • Both Robam and Fotile are good for wok cooking. Really down to the preferred look and deal you can get.

  • Can anyone please recommend rangehood installer in Brisbane? Thank you

    That's a great price. I paid $1649 for EMS9026. EMG9035 was $1849.

    • where did you buy?

      • Directly from Fotile dealer in Perth along with the installation.

        • I am in Perth as well, I will contact them

I can't knock Fotile as they do a good job but is that the only issue?
The Schweigen excels at both the removal of smoke from oil use and odours from the liberal use of spices. The "P" motor or 1650 is the best unit for domestic use.
The silent Schweigen models are very quiet and as the motor is mounted externally, the food odours and smoke are guaranteed to be expelled outside the house provided the rangehood is installed according to the manufacturers instructions. For this I recommend a Schweigen experienced installer.
Rangehoods are an essential part of a modern kitchen and it is essential that you do your homework before jumping into a purchase that you may regret because you weren't prepared to spend a few extra dollars. Schweigen are having a Cash Back deal at the moment so it is well worth checking out their product.
I must point out that I am not an employee of Schweigen but I have installed a lot of their product over the last fifteen years and none of my customers have been disappointed with their purchase.
Buying something cheap makes you feel good on the day. Paying a bit extra makes you feel good for years to come.

    • I love you username, looks like you know about these….,

      Do install in Melbourne ?

    • the cashback deal you mentioned is that harvey Norman 10% gift card back?

      • +2

Sorry that was a slip up.

The deal is with Schweigen and it doesn't start until 1st June.

This gives you plenty of time to do research so that you don't rush in and make a decision that you may regret.

Whatever you decide you will have to live with for a long time to come.

Fotile definitely does not look and feel cheap. I cannot comment on schweigen but when i was looking for a rangehood i could not find any schweigen in the range of $1500 which has airflow rating of more than 1000 m3/h and max db of 55. If my budget was around 3k i would have gone for Schweigen for sure.

Does it come with cook ?

  • +1

I have a qasair and its been awesome for wok cooking. It wasnt cheap especially with the proprietary ducting. On some nights, i leave windows open and get it to bring fresh air in.

I have family with fotile model like this. Going strong for 15 ears.

  • +1

I have this exact model and recommend it. It perform better and quieter than the ilve or bosch I had before(forgot model number but they were more expensive than this). Also, this is very easy to clean.

  • Any recommendations for an installer in Sydney?

    • +1

try their website first or call them to see if they have any official Fotile showroom that can help arrange install for you.
