[SUBS] Mickey 17 (2025) Movie Streaming @ Max

for anyone who subbed at early bird prices, or is thinking about subbing.
they just added another new release yAY! 😃

the other two I watched Companion and Juror #2 were kinda lacking imo which is why I'm not including them in the post.
I was hyped Companion being from the creators of Barbarian, but it didn't go nearly as far enough as I hoped. Barbarian was still great the 2nd time I watched it. Juror #2 directed by Clint eastwood, didn't have that energy or good feeling ending like the others did.

A group of employees are tasked with establishing a settlement on Niflheim, a planet of ice. The employees are repeatedly regenerated, becoming new versions of themselves with their old memories intact. An issue arises when an employee, believed to be dead, is already cloned when the original iteration comes back to life. Refusing to allow the clone to take its place, this error causes a ripple effect on the entire mission.

good movie but for me it was a let down

OH NO! don't say that!! 😱

hopefully I see it differently. tbh both Companion and Juror #2 were a letdown for me, was hoping this one from Bong Joon Ho couldn't possibly be. but maybe HBO is going to have this trend of mediocre new releases. 😂

Companion was just ok. Barbarian hit a home run, maybe it was too good. I felt like Companion got censored by hollywood, a lot felt missing. I just expected it to hit a home run.

for me it was a let down

Agreed…at the end I just thought "was that it"
Of all the potential they could have done with that story it's like they just went "yeah, that'll do"

same here, was okay but very on-the-nose political
      very similar to Okja

      • Why on the nose politically?

    • yeah I had high expectations but I didn't enjoy it at all.

Reminds me of Moon, 2009 Sam Rockwell

Companion was much better than this.

    • agreed, didnt have any expectations for it and it was a good mix of popcorn and depth

I thought Mickey 17 was surprisingly funny. Liked it a lot. Companion though was pretty unimaginative, there were lots of things they could've explored and just didn't. Pretty boring writing imo.

        this is what I mean!
didn't want to share too much because spoilers, but for example the part where one of the guys in the van says "you have no idea what some people do with them, such as keep them locked up in their basements". I was like then show us!! could have easily cut there to another place another time (like they did in Barbarian - I liked this because it refreshed the story) and shown for example the protagonist's "perfect life" contrasting with a secret second doppelganger partner permanently locked in a basement and how deep and disturbed and unredeemable he is, that would have also added to the satisfaction towards the end, which could have also dragged out way longer in my opinion.

Easily Bong Joon Ho's worst movie.

    • I'm also not an expert on Bong Joon Ho, but I think this is his first all english speaking movie?

      • Yeah I think so. Okja and Snowpiercer were also English speaking productions but still a smattering of Korean spoken in those.

    • -1

Nah, I wouldn't go that far. I think this one is better than Okja and Snowpiercer but still nowhere near as good as his native productions.

Saw it in cinema last month , very meh movie. Wouldn’t bother wasting your time watching on max.

  • I enjoyed the movie overall.

BUT why is Tim Key dressed as a pigeon??

  • Not a bad movie. But not upto par with bon joon ho's other movies

  • Having already read the book (Mickey7) I didn't think it'd be easy to adapt and that's how it turned out… It's ok but the book is much much better, movie took some liberties with the story and it didn't land. If your into books read it instead of the movie ..if not it's an ok movie, like some other Netflix type movies.

    Rubbish movie and rubbish acting

    • I couldn't agree more. I saw it at the cinema with a mate and both of us couldn't stand it. Unfunny , cringe and overall very painful to watch.

  • Not a lot of champions for this movie it seems, but I loved it. Not enough to subscribe to yet another service lol, but I’ll be buying the disk for sure.

Excuse my ignorance but how or why is this a bargain? Just curious no offence meant…or is someone taking the mickey out of me?
