Ozito PXC 18V 330mm Brushless Lawn Mower 4.0Ah Kit $199 Delivered / C&C / in-Store @ Bunnings

971

Found this when recommending tools for a mate who just bought a house.

Absolute bargain and I'm pretty jealous as this is a way better unit than the 300mm version I have.

Plenty of stock at Manly West Bunnings (QLD) but I had to ask them to pick it up from out the back.

My ice $129 mower from masters refuses to die….

    • +17

The advantages of not having to fuss with fuel, starter pull cord, and the quietness that comes with no engine running (still some noise from the blades and such, but much quieter), are honestly worth it.
I love battery powered mowers these days (and don't get me started on how much easier battery whipper snippers are!)

      • -4

Well yes, when you have an appropriately powered 36V lawn mower thats wide enough to cut the lawn (36cm min)..

These super thin 18V lawn mowers are absolute rubbish!
They are just a replacement for the small, manual push grass cutters

Only good for a tiny well kept grass yard.
And dont even let the lawn grow more than 6cm

        • If you have more than 25sqm of lawn then I definitely agree. Go 2x18V or 36V
(1x18V either wont cut it or gets bogged down too easily)
(Also if you have buffalo increase mow height cut)
And once you get to 1000sqm of lawn… start considering a ride on.

        • I use a ryobi 330mm 18v on 4x small lawns - about 10m2 each.

On occasion I get lazy and some bits of the lawn get to 30cm high or so.

When the lawn is low and dry in summer, it's a perfect mower, and worth every penny of the $150 I paid. When it's wet and a bit overgrown, yeah I need to take a few passes to get through it.

Do I regret not buying a ~$800+ steel deck/36v? Not particularly. The ryobi is also small and compact to store in my small shed.

      • i put a honda and masport ice mower out for hardware waste after i bough brushless 36v ozito

    • Same, its almost rusted away but still goes pretty good.

    • +1

Have full electric house, electric car, electric bike.

ICE mower… The tech/price isn't there yet for a decent patch of wet winter Kykuyu.

  • +5

I’ve got the Ozito steel deck one. Haven’t looked back since.

    • +1

It looks great but is also twice the price.

      • +3

Have used this, it's acceptable, I also have steel deck which isuch better, if you have a decent amount of lawn go the steel deck, the width makes up for the price difference if you value your time.

When dads one of these died I bought a greenworks 460mm, that's even better than the ozito steel deck. Whipper snipper and mower were $700 but the snipper is great too eats the ozito 36v for breakfast

    • Same here mate nice mower , been serving us good too

    • Love my steel deck very much since I purchased it recently. Only issue is that it feels like the mower deck gets caught on the ground quite a lot whenever I have a bit of uneven ground. I like to cut on a lower setting so I don't have to mow as often, but it means I have to cut a little higher than I would otherwise.

Aside from that, it's a beast and incredibly good value. Doesn't hurt that I found it in Hammerbarn for $199 with a yellow sticker markdown!

      • I've got this exact same feedback… love the mower and its got great capability.
only gripe is how it keeps getting caught on uneven lawn and our lawn is overall quite uneven.
I'm also looking at changing the wheels over to ones with rubber tires - wondering if anyone has recommendations on which ones to go with?
$199 definitely a steal for the steel deck, great find!

  • +12

Nice, waiting for a 36V brushless spesh though 🤞

    • -7

      Agreed
      18V is useless rubbish.
Only good for a tiny yard

      • yeah my 40v Greenworks is ok, but still fairly gutless. Ive had to use the whipper snipper mostly this year because it doesn't do wet grass. That's probably why the US market went 80v. But I'm considering getting a cheap petrol one. Like one of those old council Rover utility mowers without a catcher.

      • +2

So good for a huge proportion of people only looking to spend $200 on a mower.

      • +5

So, if you have a tiny yard it's not useless rubbish then?

      • +1

many people now only have small yard or just a courtyard and nature strip in inner city … suits a market.

      • +1

Sounds like it has a use then

    • Been waiting that one for ages .when it will on sale ?

  • +1

    this or Ryobi 18V 4.0Ah 33cm Cordless Lawn Mower….
i'm still waiting it going to 199…or the 3piece kit for 399.

    • +7

This is brushless and batteries are cheap and always on sale.

      • +1

Thanks, I didn’t know what “brushless” meant(until googled)…I thought it had something to do with not needing to clean the mower afterward…excuse my ignorance

Ozito products don’t seem too bad, are their batteries interchangeable between different tools?

        • Interchangeable between any Ozito PXC tools

        • Current era Ozito in Australia is known as Einhell elsewhere

I’m not sure this was always the case, as I remember Ozito being the terrible, cheap brand.
The batteries cross on the 18v range.

    • +1

      this or Ryobi

it all depends on what batteries you have.

  • +9

Apart from the larger diameter and much easier height adjustment than the smaller 300mm model, I'd say "approach with care"… I have the smaller model and have learnt how to use it: if the grass gets at all undisciplined, mowing will be difficult and the battery will run out or overheat very quickly. So if you are the type who mows your grass reliably every two weeks (or less), you're probably ok. The battery will only last for about 40-50m2 of grass under good (fairly dry) conditions, so again, with the right expectations this machine could work for you.

    • +5

I sold mine and bought a 36V one instead, definitely no regrets. Even a drop of moisture and it became a struggle to get through it, which meant it needed to not only be cut regularly but also dry, which is a bit hard if it rains two weekends in a row.

      • How does the 36v go with longer grass?

        • how long is long?

I find the 36V powers through it until it hits dense and wet. I have buffalo grass (or something like that, it'll take off the top with ease, no matter how long (I wish it had a bigger catcher). But if the under bit is wet and super dense, it'll take a bit more work. Easier to do it in two goes.

I also need to sharpen the blade again though. I really wish Bunnings just sold new ones the shelf or for delivery rather than being a "special order". But that's just me being too lazy to go into Bunnings to special order one thing.

          • @[Deactivated]: I got a bastard file and give my blade 20 swipes on each side at the same angle, every mow or two. Keeps the blade nice and sharp!

      • +1

Ozito ultra batteries are very useful on high power tools.

    • -5

      Larger diameter?
Like 2cm will make a difference??????????

You need at least 36cm and 36V to do a decent job without getting dizzy going up and down over the same tracks

  • +2

These are too light to get a decent cut. For a similar price, you are much better off getting the Ozito cylinder mower, adding a steel roller and putting some weight on top. There's a Facebook group dedicated to them and modding them.

    • +1

      Any link you could share?

      • or just the group name :D?

        • Ozito Cylinder Mower Fans Australia

    • I've got the Ozito cylinder and you gotta mow regularly. It can't cope with long grass, especially tall dandelion flowers. I still have to bust out my 240v mower from time to time.

      • +1

I've got an ozito cylinder but it's still boxed after a year. I'm kinda scared to use it in case I go over a twig and it bends the blades

        • +1

I've had it jam plenty on dog bones or the bits of bloody tanbark the council put around the trees in the nature strip. The blades are tough enough for all that. Gotta tip it on the side, toe the blade to let it fall, then get back to mowing.

  • +4

With all these Ozito deals going on, makes Ryobi seem like a premium product

  • +4

The $399 steel deck Ozito mower is excellent. That needs to go on sale again.

  • +1

I already have the batteries, is the steel deck worth the extra $200?

    • +3

Simply put, yes. More power, and if u have a decent yard the width is a win.

Or if u also need a whipper snipper the green works 460mm mower and snipper for $700 has been terrific.

    • I really like me steel deck overall. If you've got an uneven lawn, the deck sits low and can sometimes catch on the ground (on low settings). I don't know if I'm doing it wrong, but it's the one thing I don't love about it. Everything else has been great though! It's got awesome power on thick, wet, jungle-inspired lawns!

  • are these the ones that keep stalling? is 36v better

    • +1

36V is definitely better, but the 18V 300mm version has worked fine for my small yard as long as I don't let it grow too long or when wet. Pretty easy compromise for the low price.

Leaps and bounds beyond dealing with petrol mowers.

    • +1

The 36V stalls a ton too. Especially with moist grass.

Still works and well worth the $268 price but it’s not perfect.

      • +1

Well you shouldn't be cutting moist grass from either 18v or 36v. I've had this plastic 18v and returned and got the steel deck 36v and it has never stalled on me (it uses more grunt for thicker grass), but I also paid $200 more for the steel deck.

  • Price hipster says the standard price was $149

    • I believe they are promotion kits, not a typically stocked item. The last post on OzB was from 11/2023.

  • good price

  • +1

Had the 300mm and this seems to fix two of the issues. The catcher and the height adjust.

Biggest issue with e mowers is they cut ok but don’t have enough force to flick heavy grass into the catcher so they can jam up.

That said happy with steel deck 36v ferrex.

    • 100% agree, as well as the grip which is my biggest pet peeve of the 300mm…

  • Oops! This product is no longer available.

  • Any good ortizo whipper snipper

    • +2

      Avoid all ozito whipper snippers
All ozito ones use single line head, dual line head is recommended

    • +1

not unless it has string/lime to cut. Some of them have this flimsy plastic attachment used to cut, which just breaks & is useless. then you spend a fortune replacing them.

      this is them
      https://www.ozito.com.au/p/3411178-pxclts-018/

those red things down the bottom are used for cutting and everytime you hit a rock/concrete/stick/etc they break & need replacing. They're just designed to be a money making consumable.

      • Pity they dont have a desirable whipper snipper product.

  • +1

Would you get better performance using a 5amp battery?

    • -3

      just longer run time

    • +2

      Yes, noticeable performance.
I've had been using mine for years with 4.0a batteries and recently got the 6ah battery and obviously last longer but cuts damp/long grass noticeable better.

I wish I got this years ago.
I would of believed it either if someone told me but the higher amp batteries must offer more watts or something

  • I have the 2x18v 335mm version. Maybe a 25sqm buffalo lawn. Battery run time is fine to mow it at least twice, but I wouldn't want any less power. My model slows through the thick sections.

  • I have a slightly older version of this that I upgraded to from the 300mm. It was a great upgrade, and I really like the unit overall. The handles were a bit painful after a long mow. But otherwise solid unit.
Upgraded to the steel deck as I got it on a great sale, and haven't looked back. Now the 330mm is sitting in the garage and I really need to get around to selling it on FB marketplace!

  • +2

I just bought this mower just to see if it would do the back lawn as I hate starting the noisy petrol mower and Im shocked,

This Ozito mower is amazing for the price, Im gonna mow all the lawn with this :D from the comments here I was expecting a gutless piece of junk.

And yes I have an EGO mower, had it for years but I leave it it the MIL house so she can use it.
