Still feel like I'm being (profanity) up the arse with these rates. If this is how you treat "friends and family" I'll stay elsewhere.

  • Yeah origin go and find a new family. This deal is atrocious.
    9c fit daily charge?!

I just left Origin after I did an energy comparison. Electricity now 15% cheaper, gas 30% cheaper….

    • Yeah I just left them there rates, supply charge & fit are awful.

      • I’m on the following with Origin:

        ELECTRICITY
        Supply: $0.7041
        Usage: $0.2682

        GAS
        Supply: $0.5593
        Usage: $0.0251

        What are others on?

        • is that Qld & is it an old contract?

        • Are those rates Inc or Ex GST? Also what Supplier i.e. If NSW, Ausgrid, Endeavour etc?

@Borg: NSW, Inc GST, Sydney Metro

            • +1

@SirFrankGrimes: So Ausgrid I'll assume. If so that rate is very good and guess you have been on it for a little while. Rates have increased since there i.e.
              Current energy rates are: Supply:83.13 ¢/day | Usage: 31.66 ¢/kWh.

              • @Borg: Nope, they offered me this rate last week

                • @SirFrankGrimes: Well they have increased now based on their Website listed prices. Regardless, that rate you have is decent.

                  • @Borg: I got the rates over the phone. Best to call and negotiate

            • @SirFrankGrimes: That's cheap

    • Who are you new provider(s) and which distribution zones are you in?

Paying nearly $100 a month for my electricity for 1 person use in apartment. Most of it comes from supply charge - got to love the embedded network

  • We went to sign up with Origin last week and were happy with the rates published on the Energy Made Easy website . We applied for the Woolworths Rewards rate where you had to receive an email to boost and get 20000(I think) rewards points. It also came out the cheapest.
Once we’d signed up we received all the rates which were totally different. It was now time of use which we didn’t want for as long as we can avoid it(I lived and died by it for 20 years when we had a pool) and the daily charge increased from 76c to 90c per day. Just beware.
    I very quickly cancelled.

    • "Once we’d signed up we received all the rates which were totally different." How did you find out the actual rates after signing up? Do they send a pdf or you look via their internal website with your login?

I think all retailers have to send you the particulars after signing?

This sounds like an issue with the initial website.

    • There are a lot of different rates per retailer, which may not be shown on Energy Made Easy website. It can be confusing!

Need to compare rates for stated plan at your location.
In this case the "Origin Go Variable" Electricity Rates, less 5%.

Check the rates & other info sent after sign up.
You have 10 bdays "Cooling Off" to reject the offer, which means you return to your old retailer on old rates.

Have switched electricity retailers over years - for the incentives💰
Previously signed up for the Woolworths Rewards offer for 20000pts. Switched electricity retailer after 30d min. So wasn't bothered by the rates as use little electricity. Received the points.

  • Those rates are actually good for SA

    • Have a look at Momentum as well in SA, it came out a fair bit cheaper for me still. Unless you are lower use user.

      • Thanks! I checked them out

Another 3% off reference price for usage compared to this offer but daily charge was 151c vs 91c on Origin and FIT is 2.5c vs 4c on this Origin plan

      • I applied for Momentum Single rate plan but they sent me a welcome letter advising me of connection to the time of day rates.
I called them and spoke with different reps including supervisor but they won't change it to the single rate blaming on Ausgrid, which is BS.
They said that I am free to cancel and go back to my previous provider. They clearly don't care.
I decided to stay for a month to get $50 credit and $150 gift card from Ecconex.
Will need to find another provider in a month.

        • If you have a smart meter then you will find many won't allow flat rate once transitioned across to TOU. Silly but guess they make more via TOU?

  • Is there any way to move to this plan if I am already with Origin? My current plan is just a little cheaper than this but expiring in a month so would love to sign up to this for 12 months and with EV add on, this is the best rate available for me.
