50cm vs 40cm bar
22mm vs 14mm cut capacity…
Hardly comparableMost people buying skins already have batteries.
I got a Makita trimmer I think it is around 14mm cut. I wish I had paid more for large cut capacity.
Cheaper yes. Better deal? Don't think so
Not comparable. What you've linked is a step up from garbage and only good for very light hedging. Most the cost in that is the battery…
Mate, you are getting ripped off with that deal. Check this out. Two units for the price of one.

I have both. they are not comparable. The power difference is huge. I have only kept the 40cm as its lighter and nicer to use on small stuff like diosmas. It's pretty useless compared to the 50cm trimmer on bigger stuff like photinias.
Looks like you've hurt some feelings here. The posted 'deal' has been the same price since April 2024, according to Ryobi: https://www.ryobi.com.au/products/hedge-trimmers/18v-one-50c…
Nice find OP! Would love it if their work lights went on sale once in a while

If referring to this one, it looks like it was dropped to $109 from $140 earlier this month. If you got any Ozito , the work lights are actually quite good value too

$55 so basically still half price compared to Ryobi!!
I'm waiting for hopefully another half price Aldi matching type of deal.
Could be never :( but luckily have other brands to make do with, they just aren't as adjustable.I have exactly this one
Yea I've considered joining the bandwagon but have a lot of hand me down Makita and a few Ryobi, so was hoping to not dilute the collection more
Why? Ozito is so cheap it’s definitely worthwhile. I now have batteries and chargers in Makita, DeWALT, Ryobi, Ozito, and Toolpro. Oh I forgot Bosch blue hah. And now I can buy just about anything without worry.
Oh, I also have Hikoki batteries but literally nothing else. Couldn’t pass up 8ah batteries on clearance for $30 each and 5ah for $15 hah!
Still have brushless one from previous deal. I think it was around $137. Great machine.
I just dont know what oil I should use for this as I bought both ryobi chain saw oil and WD40 and non of them seems correct product for lubricating this hedgeI'm looking for oil as well that I could use before and after use.
I use Inox MX3 spray. Its an anti-corrosion anti-moisture lubricant. Doesn't dry out or gum up. About $13 a 300g can.
Quick spray after use while running the trimmer for a few seconds.
Excellent! Thanks for that. Wondering as well if WD40 or a Silicone spray which I already have is good enough for this.
@OzTech74L: Inox is a far better product and designed for this type of thing, amongst others.. If you have WD, keep using it though and buy some Inox later. Bonus is Inox is Australian made.
@revheadgl: Inox is amazing stuff. Didn't know it was Aussie made though! Great! I use Inox on all my bladed tools.
@ifreddo: Definitely good stuff. When I started using it many years ago, I turfed the WD. Plus it doesn't stink. WD smells foul and lingers:)
@OzTech74L: I use silicone spray on mine, same as you I already have it. Light spray after each use.
Another vote for Inox. Great stuff.
Sorry, I think you might be mistaken or mixed up models with the normally $274. I bought one in Feb, It was $179 then, and according to Pricehipster it has always been $179. https://pricehipster.com/product/_6Wrb8ZaR2BJytQj9gIo6A~HJ1K…
Happy to be corrected if I am wrong.
Yep this is not the HP brushless model, 55cm and 24mm cutting capacity.
They look almost identical.
https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-55cm-hp-brushless-…Ryobi agrees with you - same price April last year.

This is very good trimmer. I bought HP brushless version of this around $100 skin only a couple of years ago.
Do not forget oiling the blades after using it. just use any oil like baby oil, or shaver blade oil etc.Isn’t this the normal price ?
I have the brushless of this and recommend it very highly , I use it on 6-9 foot tall Lilly Pilly and Murrayas . Had an ozito before along with the ferrex one , this one is miles ahead . The hedge sweep is garbage though and does not work , I just threw it out.
May I ask how you use that on a 6-foot tall hedge? Do you need a ladder? I have a 6 foot hedge, and feels the hedger (an old model Ryobi) is too heavy when cutting the top of the hedge, so I'm thinking of buying a pole hedger.
I use an A frame ladder ,
https://www.bunnings.com.au/syneco-4-5m-120kg-multipurpose-a…I find using the ladder with this ryobi much easier on the arms, I have a pole pruner as well, but never use it, they are heavy and give your upper arms a massive workout, unavoidable i guess to the the motor and weight being at the other end which means more power is required to operate them.
