[VIC] 9L Brass Monkey Portable Fridge/Freezer $64.50 @ Jaycar, South Geelong

270

Just went into Jaycar South Geelong to purchase the 9L Brass Monkey 12v Fridge. Online price is $129 but at checkout it costed $64.50. No indication it was on sale for this price in store/online until checkout. This was at Jaycar South Geelong but it could possibly be this price at other stores as well. First time posting on Ozbargain, let me know if does not contain enough information. Thanks and hope this works for you.

  • Other stores show stock @$129. Contact store.
But 9L is a bit tiny!

I have my store set as South geelong online and its also showing $129, even in store the sign shows $129 but paid $64.50. Even the worker was surprised at the price when I paid. so maybe a internal error at Jaycar south geelong, not sure.

Yes - contact store to check cheaper price.
        Good you provided receipt👍
They should be able to hold stock.

Small, but useful for my purpose. Holds a few frozen meals for overnight stays.

    Welcome to Ozbargain🎉
    Good first Deal

99% chance it was a price error, and they honored it since they are clearing them anyways.. extremely unlikely to be repeated at that price as very circumstantially got away with paying half of the sale price. But kudos to you sir - that said not really a bargain since probably got more chance of getting bird poop on ya then getting the price honored again

Got last one at my local at Tuggerah for this price. Some clearance stuff is further 50 percent off online price in store. Not all, and I can see no way to tell without visiting or phoning store.

  • Compressor or peltier?

    • +1

Claims to be a reliable compressor, and low energy consumption in the description.

      • Cheers. Nothing in the specifications in the link.
I have the 45L. Likely same compressor. But just want to confirm.

        • Cheers. Nothing in the specifications in the link.

          Says it under the overview.

I have the 45L. Likely same compressor. But just want to confirm.

Looking like the same or something similar. It is a compressor at least, that is the main thing.

such a cheap price. but someone once told me size does matter when it comes to small fridges?

something about if you have more cooled stuff inside, it will keep temperature better and be more efficient. also more reliable because it's not working 24/7 to keep things cool. idk much about fridges but made sense to me.

  • Thanks for clueing me in on their new location. Had assumed they weren't re-opeing after the fire on Mercer St

  • Got their dual fridge freezer for 80% off and then it was out of stock so they upsized me to a even more expensive version from Jaycar

  • Car beers?

This is part of their clearance sale. All clearance lines have 50% off applied at checkout

I bought some cheap filament this way

edit - forgot to add, its in store only

    • What do you mean in store only? as in pick up only?

      • +1

        In store purchases only.

The filament i bought is $30 on the website, still a good price.

In store, it scans in at $15 per kg

(yes the in store clearance is an additional 50% off)

        • Ahh thank you so much!

        • Thanks Ahbal - is this info written anywhere?
I had a look but could not find anything about extra half price in store

          • +1

@King Tightarse: no its not on their website, it was a pleasant surprise for myself at the checkout. As the filament i bought was already reduced as part of their current sale.

My best guess is, the products vary by store, so thats why its not on the website. Mine had a clearance table, with everything on it reduced by 50% (even stuff that was already 20% or more off)

Thanks OP, grabbed a 24L portable AC/DC fridge for $109.

    • You got the dual zone fridge / freezer?
      How is it, any good?

  • +1

Not bad, the freezer side is bigger but allows you to control the temp from -20 to 5 deg. The smaller fridge size adjusts from -5 to 15 deg based on freezer temp. It uses a compressor so isn’t peltier type. The unit itself is fairly light and has nice sturdy handles. The one I got has perspex top and so is probably meant for a caravan. Also, it has an 240V AC connector which is a bonus as the smaller units are an optional extra for about $50

    • Nice :)
Guess the 1 star review from kiwi is wrong lol

Will check out my local store tomorrow
