Extra 20% off sale prices on the LG G5 OLED range at ozBarginers favourite retailer…Havey Norman.

Prices are within a few hundred of the recent LG EDU sale that was pulled, and in the case of the 55", slightly cheaper.

55" G5 OLED55G5PSA: $3895 20% off $3,116
65" G5 OLED65G5PSA: $4695 20% off $3,756
77" G5 OLED77G5PSA: $6995 20% off $5,596
83" G5 OLED83G5PSA: $8995 20% off $7,196

I briefly saw this yesterday but didn't have a chance to look at it properly. When I looked yesterday, they had a promo where if you trade in your old electrical appliance you get an additional $800 discount (this would make the deal an ATL), I checked the terms to try understand what kind of appliance you could trade in but didn't see any specifics.

Maybe they pulled the promo because it could be stacked with the 20% off. I'm not sure, but worth asking about before you purchase.

I'm only after the 83" inch, so I can't say if the trade-in was available on the other sizes.

If I can stack the trade in on a crappy old Soniq TV I'll probbaly pull the trigger otherwise, do we dare wait for EOFY deals..?

EDIT - managed to get screenshots of the trade in offer for the 83”
Read the terms, the June date of 04/06/2025 is for the $1000 discount, the trade in deal ended 27/05/2025 (sorry guys)

Hey, I take being called a professional as a compliment.

haha, in all seriousness, I only buy from Hardly Normal if the price is cheaper than everywhere else, that way, it feels like they are losing money, while I save it.

Unless they send me that computer I purchased many, many years ago, then all is forgiven.

Christ I hope they fix the HDR10 issue with the G5.

    • Yeah, very unacceptable for a TV of this price.

  • I am looking to get a new 65 inch. Wish I could find a G4… It is a lot of money to spend considering the problems it has with HDR10 and viewing angles.

  • I bought G4 77 for 600 less 3 months ago. wish I had hodled

From what I have read, the G4 is the favoured option anyway with all the issues the C5 is having.

      • What issue?

        • +1

I meant G5 but C5 is having the issues too. Not good enough for the price so I am going to wait.

          • @cunningstunt: A lot of reports this will be fixed in a firmware update, from what I’ve read it affected Dolby Vision initially as well but that has already been patched.

I agree it is unacceptable for a TV of this price point (C or G series).

Not sure I can wait to find out if it will be fixed before buying.

Surely you can take it back under warranty if it wasn’t I mean, not everyone is on the internet, how else can you find out if the TV has an issue unless you experience it for yourself?

            • @yacman: They're not going to accept HDR10 colour banding an acceptable reason to return the TV. They'll simply send a tech out to do a bunch of useless shit that wont do anything such as replacing the main board. Source: I used to work in warranty claims for a TV manufacturer.

              • @Maths Debater: That wouldn’t surprise me either, when I got the C3 I had JBs extended warranty, back then I’m pretty sure the terms extended to if the TV wasn’t performing as expected (i did it as a precaution for burn-in) but they got rid of that in new versions of their extended warranty, wonder if theres still something similar out there.

I hope they fix it in a firmware update anyway, it seems to be a widely known issue, if the big reviewers are telling people not to buy until its fixed, surely they will sort it out.

No G4 stock out there that I can find at a reasonable price but worth buying if you can find one cheap over the G5 by the looks of things.

Removed DTS support as well, no issue for me but worth noting if your someone who plays blurays back directly through the TV then it will probably be a dealbreaker.
